You've see their 2 latest. Now you see their very first MV and it is groovy. Get used to seeing MISA (the barefoot bass assassin) and Kanami (lead guitar assassin) doing their thing in the forefront. As Awesome as BAND-MAID are, the more you see'em and hear'em the more Awesome they are. Peace. 8.07
Miku Kobato is the one singing backup with guitar. She's the founder of the band (and was the singer) and the maid theme comes from when she worked in a maid cafe in the past. Also, she felt the band needed another singer so she brought in Saiki to be the lead singer. Instead of standing around, Miku decided she should play the guitar too even though she'd never really played before. The lead guitarist, Kanami, has been teaching Miku to play guitar over the years and she's become a decent rhythm guitarist. She even has a limited edition signature guitar model from zemaitis guitars. Fun Miku quote about Akane the drummer: "She is half human..... half Gorilla!" (apparently Akane eats a LOT of bananas) lol
Thrill is their very first single released and the first Band Maid song I heard. It’s not as virtuoso and complex as their newer material, but it still rocks hard with good vocals. Miku, the rhythm guitarist/vocalist, used to do more singing in the early days.
This is their very first music video. The record company came to the ladies when they released their single "Love, Passion, Matador" and asked them which song the wanted to do the video for. This is the "B" side, and the one the ladies chose. Six months after this video was released, the Facebook page "J Rock Radio" posted the video to their timeline and it exploded. Getting over a million views over the next few months. The band's Twitter page received so many follows, they thought their account had been hacked. Their TH-cam channel also received thousands of subscriptions and the views on TH-cam went through the roof as well.
This is the song that saved Band-Maid. Before this song went viral, the record company was considering dropping the band and splitting them up into other projects.
I still shudder at the thought of DANCE-MAID. 😨
@@TehPhysics What's funny is, Saiki still takes dance lessons and has gotten Miku to join her. Saiki is still trying to get MISA and Akane to join them. I don't know if they asked Kanami. But we know if Saiki asked her, Kanami would be in like a thunderbolt.

This song kept Band-Maid from being just another music afterthought. Their management was ready to cut them loose (which the girls weren't aware of at all), but the response to Thrill on TH-cam was amazing with thousands of likes and views. And this was due to Miku's intelligence in knowing that they would appeal to a huge foreign audience, as well as her decision to have English lyrics in parts of every song. If I recall correctly, this was a B-side to another song, but when it hit TH-cam it exploded. And there are now tens of thousands of Maidiacs across the globe and I am proud to be one of them. I'm in my mid-70's and became hooked on Asian music, especially Japanese because of their unbelievable level of talent. I was also lucky to score tickets for their NYC concert on 10/28/22 and my son is flying in from Colorado for the show.
Great review, now you need to see them in front of an audience to see what they really can do. Try the LIVE versions of 'Domination', 'Real Existence' or 'Play'.

Akane, the drummer, is amazing. This not hyperbole. She is nicknamed "The Gorilla" for a reason. And it's not just because she loves bananas. 💛 🍌

BAND-MAID live songs with bass solo's Don't You Tell Me, Dice, Giavani, No God, Play, On Set, Take Me Higher, Choose Me, another all female Metal Bands LOVEBITES, NEMOPHILA, HANABIE, TRIDENT-JAPAN, ASTERISM(7string bass crazy solo's and guitar solo's) all this girls will make your jaw dropped....
I am glad I'm not the only one that loves Saiki's freckles, they are a constellation on her face. It's normally her Yaeba that gets commented on.
This 2015 video was the make-it-or-break-it video for Band Maid. In fact at this point Miku couldn't even play the guitar since she thought she was only going to be a vocalist in the band. However this video did so well they decided that Band-Maid was going to be a successful project and that gave them the exposure and financial wherewithal to get started. This is before Misa and Saiki started dressing Gothic. Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!

Yeah. This was their first mv. This was when their music was written for them. A little later into their career they started writing their own stuff. At this point Saiki(lead vocal) had only recently joined the band and had no clue about the maid costumes. She was still really nervous which is why she’s a little stiff moving around the mic here.

Great reaction. 9.5 is ok but if you listen them live... 15.5 or 20.5 will be the puntuation. Go live and get totally mad and pick any song, no problem hahahaha. They are five monsters creating and playing music (go live please) in a way out of this world. Akane (drums) is spectacular live...Misa (bass) too, Kanami (lead guitar) too, Miku ( 2nd vocals and 2nd guitar) too and Saiki (lead vocals) too.
Important, they consider the crowd as part of the performances and they find, always, the way to involve the audience in their songs creating an electrical atmosphere non stop during two hours or more.
FUNNY: They put the crowd so excited that, sometimes, they play a music box (music to sleep kids) during two minutes before go to the ballads or acoustics in order to calm the mass.
You forget... The Ladies are emotional and energy vampires. They take all of the emotion, all of the good energy of their fans during a Serving, absorb it all, and channel it back into their performance, giving it back. Making it many times greater, and making the audience a 6th band member.

RIP Tiny Hat
Don't know if the term "SMOKE-OUT" having a double meaning. But smoking dope was cool in the 70's-80's. When we were immature and in or just out of highschool. I get high on life and music now. And have for more then two decades. Don't think it's as bad ass when the government is basically sanctioning it. But I will definitely check out a few of more of your Band Maid reactions. If you continue to do so. All stay safe and be well.
MIKU could not play guitar - she did not know how to play! - since then KANAMI has taught her to play rhythm and MIKU now has a signature Zemaitas line. Also notice the Jimi Hendricks stickers on MISA's bass. AKANE did not have her TAMA drums yet either. MIKU did not think she had the voice for the music so they brought in SAIKI.
