She’s a stunningly beautiful young woman and a very talented singer. Such a great band.

There are few chords in history that can take you right back to a certain point in time … these …. are those chords for me ✌️

I remember hearing this on my AM radio late at night in the early 1980s, can't have been long after it came out. Hearing it broadcast by some distant station, from what seemed an impossibly far-off and romantic country. The sound of the Echoplex reverb, combined with the signal fading in and out just made it all seem so other-worldly.

I used to know The Passions guitarist Clive Timperley very well back in the early to mid-'80s; nice guy and a great guitarist...

beautiful tone to that guitar, great vocal, the bass pulses easily beneath and the drums are perfectly placed underneath the whole affair. a classic.

Fantastic song performed on a fantastic live music show: Oxford Road Show (BBC Manchester). A genuine attempt to produce a program that meant something and listened to the views of young people. Died in 1985. Shame.

Richard Williams TOTP expected you to mime (or "lip sync," for the benefit of Americans)-but somehow I'm not surprised that you were expected to sing live, after all, considering that the producers of the Oxford Road Show were well known for "keeping it real."

I had forgotten about this track and pleased that I have come across it again so many years later. It really is a one-off song that will continue to be appreciated for a long, long time, similar to another one-off of a 'A Girl Like You' by Edwyn Collins. The lyrics are very simple but wonderfully poignant.

Someone should find the original tapes and throw up the entire performance of "Why Me" and whatever else they may have done that day. The Passions pretty much created Dream Pop. The Cocteau Twins perfected it and ran with it.
