I've had lots of bugs they seem to be chugging through. Voice commands would often reboot the watch. Somtimes I'd look down at the watch, and it was in the middle of a spontaneous reboot. Though not a bug, there is one issue I feel was a very poor design choice. When tracking workouts--specifically weight training-it used to be that one could adjust the weight covering four fields...100s, tens, ones, and half. So 000.0 each digit was adjustable. Now, it is broken down as 0 00 .5. So anything from 00 to 99 must be adjusted at the same time. It's annoying as hell. If I am lifting, say, 55 pounds, I have to keep swiping on the face of the watch or hold the buttons to get to that weight. I usually over or undershoot the weight, which usually requires more button presses. I can't figure out why they thought this was an improvement over the prior software versions. (i.e., pre-Fenix 8) I pre-load my workouts, so it's a help...but I still over/undershoot if I overachieve or underachieve the weight I pre-loaded. (It's uaually underachieve in my case.) :)
It happens. Even Apple has had to issue software updates once they release hardware. Internally their test group tries to catch them all before launch but once these watches are in the hands of millions of people it’s a different story!
@@ChaseTheSummit Yeah, but you need to admit that the Fenix 8 launch was premature and the product wasn’t ready. Similar issues with other companies’ new releases aren’t a valid excuse. Garmin, known for aviation navigation hardware, is expected to deliver quality and reliability, justifying the higher price. This doesn’t seem to be the case with their watches.
Had mine for 1 week, 4 to 5 crashes a day, exhausting... returned yesterday. Loved the watch but crashed with any extensive use. Fully updated. I think I'm in the minority but I've never paid so much money for something to fail so miserably.
@@ChaseTheSummit yep, the one i could always recreate was when i had multiple notifications and deleted them one by one instead of “Dismiss all”… watch would always reboot. But i also had every other random bug i’d read on reddit.
My problem was that when I put the watch on battery saver mode and then try to stop it the watch kept restarting. I did everything but no success. I ended up holding the top two buttons together with the bottom left when the watch is off. When you hear a click, release the upper right button. If you hear a second click, release the other two and everything is fine. you have to stick your ear to the clock to hear the ticking.
Do Garmin fixed bugs that aren’t posted all over you tube? Because it’s bugs written on top of bugs on top of bugs. How is this company still operating???
My Fenix 8 crashed yesterday while saving a 10k run, all stats gone, no gps map displayed, all I can see in the activity screen is the distance and pace, which I find inexcuseable for a 1.200€ Fitness Watch.
@@ChaseTheSummit 11.68. I think the crash ocurred because the watch had trouble saving the laps. It was my first time using the lap button and my first crash during an activity so it might be related
@@ChaseTheSummit I mean Celsius, where the operating range is -20 to 45 and the coldest mtb I’ve done is around -10. It happened more the onset. This most probably is very old issue - if we think, real bellow zero sports like ski, hiking, xc ski and early morning running, the watch is always on the hand and warm. Very few and rarely cycle with a watch on the handlebar and below zero Celsius. Now with this diving activities, the watch can be on the hand and have very low temps. BTW, half of the people watching this video have no idea what was actually the temperature of the water, I can assume 1-2 Celsius.
My Garmin Fenix 8 solar 51mm used 20% battery in only 48 hours! Look to me that’s not normal. I only run 5k. En auto light off. More people with te same issue?
This is happening with epix software 18.14 but have not yet heard it was a fenix 8 issue as well. They claimed to have fixed it with 18.16 but time will tell since I updated only yesterday. Apparently, incident detection kept running when an activity was stopped in 18.14.
One of the worst watches to be released by Garmin. Was so dissatisfied I sent mine back. From having to pay for watch faces, to not being able to turn off notifications while training, no ability to turn off the countdown timer which gives you 5 seconds to edit a weight in a workout. Basic step counter doesn't even work, it adds thousands of steps while I drive or fly. $1200 to be garmin beta tester.
Soooo that confirms what's mostly being said on reddit: Garmin takes us for paying beta testers.... They released a widely unfinished product and takes inputs from the customers that paid almost 2000$ cad for that watch to fix bugs. Same goes for nap time that went crazy, for ugly watchface selection (they added some of the MIP f8 watchfaces in the new beta for the oled to compensate for those ugly neon winamp skin watchfaces that were on the watch out of the box) list goes on.
These things happen. Garmin does lots of testing prior to release but after they ship millions of units to the masses additional bugs are usually spotted especially with new software like this. The good news is they’re working fast to squash the bugs and I suspect the next official firmware will fix most of the issues.
They also have a voluntary beta program. Users test and report bugs. But they ignore the feedback anyway and release the full version without fixing the reported bugs. Check Garmin's forum...
There is still tons of unresolved issues for Enduro 3. I would suggest to prepare a video and discuss with someone form Garmin how it is possible to release such a unusable watch with this price. Big shame for Garmin
Unuseable is a strong word lol. I've been using Enduro 3 and Fenix 8 for a couple of months with basically no issues but I also don't cold plunge, dive in cold water, etc... so It's probably specific use cases that are finding these issues. What issues have you had on your Enduro 3?
This is most is a real issue it happened to my watch every time I jumped in to fairly cold water (16-18 degrees Celsius). Hur why did you start a dive session? You shouldn’t do anything just put it in there as you were jumping into water. That’s how it would be in real life.
Starting a dive session made no difference. I did tests off camera with it just being on the watch face and the same thing happened. Looks like it’s fixed now though.
French speaking auditor here. The standard watch display shows only the last letters of the month. As an example it shows "obre" instead of "Oct" as it should be. Not very important but annoying.
2:20 really, cut the camera before it happens ? + there are new water drops on the table ? You clearly edited the video so that it looks like the watch turned off. I'm not saying the Fenix does not have an issue globally, but you clearly staged this one. Very disappointing.
I edited the video so it wasn’t boring having dead space in it. As mentioned I ran the test several times off camera after the initial crash which is why there’s more water on the table. No conspiracy theories here… this is a real thing. Fortunately it’s already been addressed.
A lot of problem for a 1100€ watch. Lag, Frozen screen… From my point of view is very disappointing. I had a fenix 5, 6 pro and a 7 and now a 8 We almost came back to the old days when the fenix works fine when they release the next one…
Damn... That was the one single feature I ever wanted.. I just wanted to keep the watch in a glass of ice water with my teeth in it on my bedside...C'mon Garmin...
It’s not just that . These watches are supposed to be outdoor watches .this is unacceptable. This was not an issue on the previous watches. And with the substantial price jump with all the bugs the fenix 8 is having it is a big deal .
If you run to buy a tech product on Day 1,please, expect these things. This can be applied for PCs, phones, watches, even cars. I've never did it, so never had issues. I will buy F8, but probably around Christmas or after holidays sales. And I'm not expecting any of these issues
They're moving quick to squash the bugs. Like I said though for my specific use case I have had ZERO issues. But, I don't cold plunge or swim in 38F degree water lol.
No turn notifications on a navigation guided activity until beta 11.87. That's a pretty core feature on a Garmin to leave out.

@@anthonyrampino7734 96” is the full chest circumference. So it should fit but it might feel a bit “fitted” which is the intended design. Thanks for checking out the merch!
How about if swim mode.. would it turn off? Its only effect scuba 🤔
The activity doesn’t matter. It will reboot in any state.
@@ChaseTheSummit is the best 👍
can you go over how well it works with tattoos?
No tracker will work accurately w/ tattoos. No matter the brand or algorithm deployed.
It's cool that they are fixing the bugs but honestly, these bugs shouldn't exist in the first place for a watch that costs 1K 🤦♂
I’m interested in the pro version tbh
Had mine for 1 week, 4 to 5 crashes a day, exhausting... returned yesterday. Loved the watch but crashed with any extensive use. Fully updated. I think I'm in the minority but I've never paid so much money for something to fail so miserably.
Was there something that caused the crash that you were able to re-create? I haven't had a single crash other than the one in this video.
Thanks. Now Garmin needs to allow customers to turn off the auto brightness if they want so I can see my watch display easier in dark environments.
That's quite odd. Usually even in the event of a crash the watch retains the data from the activity. What firmware are you one?
@@ChaseTheSummit 11.68. I think the crash ocurred because the watch had trouble saving the laps. It was my first time using the lap button and my first crash during an activity so it might be related
@@PQUD_ strange. That is a Beta Build so crashes can occur. Hopefully an official release comes out soon.
I’ve seen this on fenix 7x on sub zero mtb rides when the watch is on the handlebar.
Sub zero it’s expected since that’s outside of the specified operating range.
Great issue to dig into! Very interesting. Thanks for making this! 🧊
Is it possible to read whatsapp or normal sms with garmin now?
They pop up as a notification. Yes.
@@ChaseTheSummit Can we open and read messages? Or can we make voice calls from WhatsApp?
One of the worst watches to be released by Garmin. Was so dissatisfied I sent mine back. From having to pay for watch faces, to not being able to turn off notifications while training, no ability to turn off the countdown timer which gives you 5 seconds to edit a weight in a workout. Basic step counter doesn't even work, it adds thousands of steps while I drive or fly. $1200 to be garmin beta tester.
Mine getting crushed when checking weather "daily" page for the most time. Anyone too?
Soooo that confirms what's mostly being said on reddit: Garmin takes us for paying beta testers.... They released a widely unfinished product and takes inputs from the customers that paid almost 2000$ cad for that watch to fix bugs. Same goes for nap time that went crazy, for ugly watchface selection (they added some of the MIP f8 watchfaces in the new beta for the oled to compensate for those ugly neon winamp skin watchfaces that were on the watch out of the box) list goes on.
Yup. I said that on a Reddit too. Ridiculous for 1200 usd.
These things happen. Garmin does lots of testing prior to release but after they ship millions of units to the masses additional bugs are usually spotted especially with new software like this. The good news is they’re working fast to squash the bugs and I suspect the next official firmware will fix most of the issues.
Very true this time around.
They also have a voluntary beta program. Users test and report bugs. But they ignore the feedback anyway and release the full version without fixing the reported bugs. Check Garmin's forum...
Garmin has fixed potential shutdown due to rapid temperature change in the 11.68 release. ;-)
Well someone tested the software to match their own specs, looking at you Garmin ...
I ice bath every day with my fenix 7 pro no issues. This is quite embarrassing given the price increase also.
The good news is it was a software bug and not a hardware issue. Not a huge deal and it seems to have already been addressed.
So rushed out. The beta updates seem like the stable releases. IOS and Android are doing the same thing lately. I guess par for the course now.
@@ChaseTheSummit I see, thanks for testing. Did you say that the fix disables the dive functionality?
Lag, Frozen screen…
From my point of view is very disappointing. I had a fenix 5, 6 pro and a 7 and now a 8
We almost came back to the old days when the fenix works fine when they release the next one…
Random reboots. And no youtube music
Yea this is upsetting me too!
Lots of complaints with this $1200 Fenix..
15 degree will make it reboot no need to have cold water
That’s outside of the specified operating range.
Not fixed
@@RumbleBack-iz3tl how so? Did you try the new beta?
@@bb4prelude73yup, for that price. The launch was a bug ridden pos.
@@ChaseTheSummit nobody does. I have 6 dives this summer, none of them in less than 19C.
