My sister still has her 1999 Olds 88, she loves this car which currently has 168,000 miles on it. She recently had the fuel pump replaced, new tires, shocks and struts installed. She drives this car daily for her job. She has the option to have a company car, but chooses to drive her car because she can not smoke cigarettes in a company car. the interior has years of cigarette smoke film on every surface, and she has smoked in it since the day she drove it off the car lot, she loves the large ashtray in the dash which is always overflowing with cigarette butts.
its not my favorite late-88 design from Oldsmobile, but its a good, classy looking car it would be nice to see more of. i like the buick lasabre-esque faux-smoker windows; they're a warm aesthetic feature that looks at home here. the grille is a bit funny looking, but the rear end is a calming and charming one to be stuck behind in traffic. the sunburst wheels are a design that would do well in chrome as well as aluminum. when they are amongst the 2020s parking lots, its a delight and warm smile in a sea of pointlessly angry-looking dead-eyed crossovers and viagra-minivan pickups.
In my younger days I'd never look at this car twice, thought it was complete garbage. Now as an old dad, i kinda want it. What a soft plush interior and ride. Now I wish I could back in time.
I am the second owner of a '98 LS and quite like it. The Buick LeSabre variant has an old man's look about it, and the Pontiac Bonnevile is over-styled, IMHO. Some might find the Olds bland looking, but I think it's handsomely understated. This video is great because it explains which features are standard and optional in each model. Turns out, the original buyer of my Olds opted for the split bench seat and a passenger power seat with cloth interior -- which seems counterintuitive, but allows room for a middle seat passenger in a pinch and avoids hot seats in summer and cold in winter. The Olds has just enough in amenities without adding too much complication that leads to gremlin attacks over time.
I am a true Oldsmobile relativity Ive owned a 1993 Oldsmobile 93 got 299k miles basic maintenance owned 8 years 1988 put over 280k mils o basic maintenance as well and now a 1996 base with 89kmiles and cheap to fix, Mine is a base has the rear aide ducts and had the tape/CD radio mine also has the auto lock feature when put in gear too and I also have automatic headlights.I also have the touch controller the heat and the radio controls on the wheels Mine is a base model slso

Piece of crap my gauge cluster only Speedo is working . I have to top off gas every time. And damn thing turns engine off at low speed or city driving another gm crap shoot
That could be the chip in the key or the reader. There are ways to get around it. Look on the net. Old cars of any brand do develop electrical gremlins.

Sucks that she’s going to get lung cancer.

I just bought one, a 99 Olds 88 LS with 110k, one owner and it’s a cream puff. That 3800 engine gonna outlive me.

All the feature about the 1999 Oldsmobile 88
They were beautiful cars! Ashame GM killed Oldsmobile.
Exterior wise it reminds me of the infinity Q45
intrigue struts its stuff at the front of the pack while bravado and minivan hides in shame
