    Youve captured brilliantly what many Meteor owners have realised over the last few months. Many of us really like the heel/toe gear change so if you could develop a better gear shifter with this it would be popular. Will be watching with interest.

      Heal toe on this bike is very fun to use. Like a gated shifter in a Ferrari it’s very classy set up. Wearing big boots is now not a problem. Great rumble super comfortable seat/ergonomics and smooth acceleration. This bike is under $4500 it doesn’t have to be perfect- it’s brilliant!!.

      Hi afraid one design doesn’t fit all,
      I found the heal toe a nightmare, I therefore purchased the kit from Tec and what a revelation.
      My bike was a demo with 164 miles and had been loaded with extras
      The bigger foot pegs made it almost impossible for proper use of the gear linkage,I prefer the larger foot pegs as classy
      Purchased the kit used my boot as a sample for setting angle and distance.
      Road tested with a big grin as lovely gearbox and slick gear change .
      Thank you TEC first class guidance and top quality
      Applied light grease and lock tight plus added spring washers.

    I really like this bike - not to mention your dedicated and skilled work to make it better! The biggest thing on my wish list for it is a belt drive kit though. Having to lubricate the chain all the time and the mess it makes takes a lot of fun out of riding a motorcycle for me. Secondly a performance upgrade like the modified camshaft would be nice just to make it that bit more capable on the motorway. A nicer shifting arm also sounds like a great idea but I agree with the people who want to keep it a heel/toe shifter.

    A ton of early-adopting Enfield 650 owners are still hugely grateful for your pioneering "First Service" video on that then new breed, so you can be sure I'll be bringing this offering to the attention of Meteor owners on our "Unofficial Royal Enfield Community Forum" (can't provide link or TH-cam will auto-torpedo my comment) for those who may want to make their 350s all they can be. And I entirely agree with you about the new "BSA" (with emphatic quotes). Frankly, I'd be just as happy with it if it were badged "Mahindra", and I used to own an old BSA single back in the day. After all, the new offering has just about as much shared heritage with the REAL BSA of yore as I do with King Mswati III of Swaziland or any of his wives, now reduced to a mere ten.

    How about making your footpeg the only one and turning the gear lever 180 degrees ? I know the change pattern would reverse , coming from older brits you can easily adapt left/right and up/down for 1st . The brake pedal might be more involved .

    For what it's intended to do it's a well designed and balanced bike, I believe the Meteor Classic has addressed the gearshift issue so that only leaves a few cosmetic changes to which I would probably say, why bother, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • @samsungview2618
    @samsungview2618 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yes, 1) Love the heel toe shifter, but pls give us an upgrade (better materials, better fit), 2) will also buy the foot pegs, 3) a wind screen, 4) Brighter and LED headlight, 5) anything that makes the bike a little bit faster. I'm fine with it now, but if I could get just a few MPH more, would be worth it.

    Hi, nice to hear a proper accent - not many Geordies over here on the Isle of Man! I'm interested in the adjustable levers for sure, a better exhaust and getting rid of that stupid speed limiter - no 70 limit here. Just a little more would be helpful! Also maybe a cam in the future, I don;t need a rocket ship (have 5 other bikes) but just a bit more go would really make this little bike. I also find the shocks very hard on our bumpy roads, but they may run in yet - we'll see. I would accept a little loss of handling for a better ride. Oh and a rose jointed ear linkage, but may make that myself - I need to keep a heel and toe, smashed left foot full of screws. (walking accident, not bike!).

    Good round up, mate! I was one of the fortunate few who bought one of the first batch of Himalayan cams, 12000 miles on and it's still delivering the goods. I test rode a Meteor 350, and I'd buy one but for the footrest position. Maybe a complete footrest conversion kit would be a good product. I'm unconvinced by the new Classic 350, I'd prefer a Meteor with different footrest positioning.

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi, Glad you are liking the cam in your Himalayan. I have yet to get a good look into the differences between the Meteor and new classic 350. My local dealer should be getting some in a couple of weeks. But my thoughts are I prefer the basic look of the Meteor to the classic. I just think the classic is trying a bit to hard to look like it was made in 1953. the added bonus is the Meteor is a good bit cheaper too. I am thinking about a hybrid of the two bikes with the bolt on lower sub frame of the new classic on a meteor so the pegs and levers are in a better position.

    I just got the Hunter here in sunny Indonesia. Number one issue are the rear shocks, the bike has almost no static sag and with my 78 kgs very little rider sag. I understand simple, inexpensive suspension, but this is rear end is way too stiff.
    I have big hands, but the levers are at the very "far" limit. The last thing that no one mentions (so maybe it's me) is the clutch engagement width, it is very narrow. The clutch is smooth and all that, but the entire engagement happens in 10% of the lever travel. I ride 150cc local Hondas and Yamahas where the engagement is 40% or more. Two ideas, a less aggressive cam on the clutch shaft or a longer clutch cable lever on the clutch shaft. Watched your Fuel X, need that as the poor bike runs hot and looking at the white, hot spark plug makes me cringe. Thx for great channel and nice parts.

    Thanks for the great video. I am a 650 Interceptor owner in the U.S.A., with only 500 miles on the bike. I have purchased your 2 to 1 exhaust system, which I am yet to install, along with the high-flow air filter and booster plug. I am 56 years old, a rather laid-back - mostly city - rider, not a racer, but I do appreciate a freely breathing machine that runs cool, responds well to the throttle, and can keep up with freeway traffic while still providing passing power when needed. My question is, will the booster plug (with its faulty temperature data fed to the ECU) be effective in enriching the fuel/air mixture under all circumstances, or will it only enrich the mixture under acceleration? If it does not enrich the mixture at steady rpm (e.g. while cruising), would a Dynojet fuel injection module, or a Powertronic piggy-back ECU do the trick? Is installing one of those what you mean when you recommend re-mapping the ECU? The boost in horsepower may not not be significant enough to be worth the (almost $400) price of the unit, but if it makes the engine run cooler, it may make it last longer as well. Your advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

      Never mind my question above about the fuel booster plug. Since then I watched your video on the booster plug, and now I understand that it only enriches the mixture under acceleration (in open loop mode). Thank you for the very informative videos, and the effort you put into developing meaningful modifications for the 650 twins at reasonable prices!

    Interesting comments on BSA pricing , it costs no more to make a 350 single vs a 650 single .

    • @georgemilburn6213
      @georgemilburn6213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is why UK bike makers had to stop making small capacity bikes in the late 60's/70's as they realized they cost almost as much to make as big bikes . The business model for making small bikes only works for high volumes combined with low labour rates. Hence why small bikes have to be designed with large volume markets like India first and adapted to the lower volume markets needs. But they will keep selling to us as they make a much better profit in Europe on each bike. these bikes are less than £2000 on the road in India , so around £1000 out the factory door before taxes, dealer profit and shipping.

    interested to hear the development of performance parts on the classic 350 and the meteor and the new hunter 350 coming to the UK in november.. Three bikes with the same engine.. I have seen pictures of the hunter 350 and can't see where the catalytic converter is.. On the meteor it is placed underneath the engine... The hunter 350 is more sporty (but still heavy at 181kg kerb weight).. Royal enfield say they have reworked the fueling on the hunter vs the other 350cc bikes,, but only 0-60 kph times are slightly faster,, the meteor actually is faster from 0 to 100 kph. The more "sporty" hunter 350 really needs a boost in horsepower and I think it could benefit from a new camshaft, DNA airfilter, an ECU remap and free flowing exhaust... The Hunter is at least 20% cheaper than the scram 411 so expect a price around 3600 pounds for the Hunter 350.. A 20% boost in power would be great from the stock 20.2 bhp to around 24 bhp

    Tried one out the other day.....like a good 125!! Old design or not, the bike DOES have an OHC engine, and I would expect a LOT more from a 350 in 2024. Only out on the bike for 5 minutes, and that was all it took for me to say "nooo, thank you!" As you say, around town....great, but once on anything like a faster A road....put it this way, I KNEW that if I bought one of these, I would definitely regret it and it would bring no end of frustration to me. Don't get me wrong, it actually is a cracking little bike for the money, and looks like a million dollars. But as I said, 5 minutes on it and it was a big no. I'm only 11 1/2 stone, too, so it's not like I'm a six foot two 17 stoner! Come to a hill, or (I'm guessing) into a strong headwind.....and you'll be gritting your teeth! Well finished bike, though....and the engine starts and runs lovely. If I was needing a bike to run around town, or to commute 5 miles a day, a big yes. Anything outside of that, including touring, a big no. Being a shorty, I did try the Triumph Speed 400 .....even with proper bike boots, I could only get the tips of my toes down (I'm 5' 4") So that was THAT out, too! Shame, as that bike has twice the power of the Meteor. Just to underline, I am NOT having a go at this bike, it is a real beauty, the value for money is insane, but it's just.....'flat' I definitely would recommend a test ride on one of these, though....but don't be tempted to just buy one without trying it first. SO many glowing reports on YT of how great it is. I nearly bought one on the reviews alone, without testing.....but I am SO glad I did! Happy Biking!

    Hitchcocks now stock the Fuelx controller will that help with performance?

    • @georgemilburn6213
      @georgemilburn6213 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes ,Powertronic have contacted me about these, but my request for technical info have yet to be responded to. I have not tested on as yet. BUT from the wiring connections, it can only work on the O2 sensor input. This is the same as putting an O2 sensor emulator in a Euro4 bike. They will probably have added a simple circuit to pulse the altered voltage to fool the ECU as you cannot use a fixed value eliminator on Euro5. We looked at this, but as it only works in closed loop mode, the benefits are very small and altering the O2 sensor input to run richer in closed loop will have a negative impact on fuel economy. The main area you need to run a richer air/fuel ratio is in open loop (during acceleration and coming off tick over ) a altered O2 signal will not effect this. it also has no effect on the ignition timing like the previous Euro4 powertronic system did. So again it will have little or no effect on power. What does Hitchcocks have to say about it ? as they do have a rolling road !
      When we see a bike with one fitted and I have the time I will run one up for an air/fuel check and power test . I will not sell parts like this without testing them first and I am always very dubious of claims by any gadget maker who will not show the air/fuel and power data that I have not tested myself.
