How lucky for Niecy to have actual photo images of the family and the home. Very fortunate. 🤗
And the dog gets to be in the photo too, obviously considered and cared for. 🐕

When I see photos of those slaves with scars across their backs from the beatings .... it breaks my heart. HOW can humans treat other humans like that? If I live to be a 100, I'll never understand the cruelty. However, Niecy has shown some beautiful insight through her discoveries of her family. No matter what, God blesses us.

"Even with the hard parts there's some, there's an add value to the knowing" Amen to that! Thank you Niecy for expressing this feeling. In most states adoptees are told they have no right to know. They have no right to even see their birth certificate. Their existence is a secret. They are often told they are better off not knowing. It's a cruel and inhumane breach of our rights. We all have the innate Right To Know if we so choose.

There are everyday people who do this for us everyday folk as well. I used to do it. The specific group I was a part of called us DNA angels. I don't do it anymore but they do it for free just because they enjoy doing it(specifically to help people find an unknown parent or family member) so if you are hoping to have that, you still can.

Hi there, have you done the AncestryDNA test? While the test doesn't build family trees, it can be an amazing resource in getting started with your research. It will provide an ethnicity estimate as well as a list of DNA matches. The matches will consist of anyone you share DNA with who has also taken our test and they can range from close family to fifth cousins. Contacting and working with your DNA matches can be a great way to learn more about your family history.

Regarding the point in the show in which it was revealed that her paternal grandfather was not her biological grandfather, they spoke as if the grandmother must have had an affair, but I wondered if it was non consensual and possibly something she just didn't speak about, especially since they could not find much info on the actual grandfather. No one should have to live what her ancestors did. Even today so many black people are STILL, having to say "no matter what" that means something is terribly wrong with the society. Your country should not be the obstacle in your life. The idea of being a "victim" is Gaslighting. For example acknowledging that banks routinely under value your home if you're Black. Having to find a "whyt friend" to stage your house with their things, so the bank will appraise your home for the correct value is insanity. No where on earth does something that nutty exist. My sister had $400,000 added to the value of her home after her whyt friend pretended to be her, restaging the home. That's not victim mentality that being victimized by a sick country with sick people. I left America it's garbage😳

@@lf1496 I think you’re missing the point. What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. Why do you think black people and Jewish people are so strong? Because they are strong people who rose past adversity. You say it’s wrong; I say, bring on the challenge. I’m gonna be strong despite YOU (not you specifically, just you in general). Ancestry. Are we as Americans proud to be Americans today.
I’m starting to believe that America peaked when America first shed blood on this nation before their was ever a president or a White House.
I think we fell far more off then when America first started. Especially when the late 1700 bleed into the early 1800s and everything before ot bleed into the 1700’s and 1600’s and so on.
I feel like America is not satisfied with being America anymore.
There is no today’s America, because America is constantly repeating the darkest of history today more than ever.
We are the butt end of a broader issue now. And it involves the whole world having their eyes on us.
We don’t have a today because of the history that this country began with.

An interesting request. This video reeked of agenda. I'd like to see a video that brings people together without artfully forgetting anything, do as this video does by attempting to remember, but doing so in a way that shares no bias, no ulterior motive, and celebrates the fact that everyone watching it, regardless of their background, is living today.
It's amazing how written history allows for some groups of people to really marinate in their ancestral past, revel in the misery of the survivors, whereas many, many others come from places without recorded history, simply knowing they were escaping atrocity, escaping famine, pestilence, poverty, oppression, and were coming to a new place of opportunity.
As you request, they merely show people that will help sell their product, not tell a story, not unify a people. This is using the most current thing--race grievance--as a way to sell their product, ambivalent to the potential consequences.
