I love BBQ Bob. Your soft voice and slow slide tune matches very well. I wonder where were you. Antique background also added some flavor to this tune. Two thumbs up. Ted
@pamirs94 Thank you for your kind comments. The mics are an AKG Perception 100 for the vocals and an AKG 1000S for the guitar. I use these same mics for my local gigs. Both are condensers.
I can remember him singing this song I also remember him showing me the acetate record that he recorded it on the first time he recorded it. it wasnt very popular this kind of music when i was growing up but I sure would like to know more about him since he is gone...I can tell you there wasnt an instrument he couldnt play......maybe someone knew him his nick name was Curly.
I hope to find out the truth my grandad was supposed to have written this song...he sang it differently but the same words adding things like .......thats why im crying ...oh lord im crying mississippi heavy water blues....his name was arvey James Tutter and was born in 1906 and at some point he was a dj (if they called it that back then) at a radio station in jasper texas. he died in 1987 he was 81..
That is an interesting story about your grandad claiming to have written this song. There was another man named "Curly" that is, Curley Weaver who was a Georgia musician who was a close friend of Robert Hicks (Barbeque Bob) who recorded this song in 1927. Doesn't sound like he was related to your grandad. This record was a pretty good seller in its time. Maybe someone out there has some more info on James Tutter. James Clem
