Come for the national holidays, they last 7 days without alcohol laws, it will be the most Chilean you will see, they are celebrated all over the world in September and they are the best
i´m chileno and basiclly agree with most of what you´ve tasted and ranked so far but i totally, like TOTALLY disagree how u´ve scored the mote con huesillo which is outstanding. i´m from the northern side of chile, so u cannot really find it in here easily, but once i went to santiago i just totally loved it, it´s awesome and i will never EVER find a better dessert after meals.
Thank you for your view and comment! - Mote Con Huesillos is definitely unique. It was just to strange for the two of us. So again, this our ranking based off of our experience. Not that it applies to all people. It was evident everywhere we went that Chilenos love it.
There are a lot of negative comments, as a chilean I thank you for giving our cuisine a go and being honest about it. I have seen a lot of channels that force their reactions to be positive, and I prefer straight honesty. Having Mote con Huesillo at the bottom of your list makes absolute sense to me, it's an aquired taste, and I don't think you are forced to finish a dish if you dont like it, giving it away may have been better, but you are on the mercy of people around you (And if they don't get an ick from having a second hand drink), I get if no one wanted to take it. I hope next time you get to try Charquican and Cuchuflis.
True! - Every single culture has its own dishes that often do have an acquired taste. --- We prefer to be honest about our experiences vs. all those other TH-camrs who just say it's positive and joyful all the time... THAT, is just not true. If we don't like something, and going to say that and why. SO THANK YOU!
To be mas exact, mote con huesillo is wheat husk coocked on ashes (mote) and boiled dry peach (huesillo), and the juice is made with the water of where you boil the huesillo, plus some sugar and other things.
Yep! - We expect people to see our taste a bit surprising... We don't like to eat bread or anything processed... So, things people typically boast about we just don't like to eat. But that Cordero was 100% amazing.
Thank you for the view and comment! - We did display what kind of foods we eat. Lots of whole natural foods includes salads, cooked veggies, potatoes, and all types of meat... But we do avoid bread and processed foods. So, Chilean foods such as the Completo and the Churrasco were just rated lower because of all the bread. Anywho, we've never been to the moon. Maybe one day.
This has nothing to do with me being from Chile or from any country. Throwing food like that is more disgusting than the disgust you got from what you tasted. I don't blame you because you grew in a consumerist culture that takes no regard for something as important as what you eat. You said it yourself, you take what you eat very importantly, but at the same time, you didn't budge on throwing food away. Just for the clicks and views. I don't care that you didn't like it, actually, that's totally valid, but then throwing food away like that? Really?
We did not mean to offend and we do our best to not to waste food. When we ordered the Mote Con Huesillos we only got one, shared it, even asked for a smaller one, and then found out it was going to be too difficult to finish it... When recording videos you don't always get the whole story. We did sit down for about 15 minutes really trying to enjoy it... Before we just couldn't. So, it wasn't as immediate as the video may show. So yes, we really did throw it away. --- Regarding the health and food choices of the United States, we are totally outliers.
I'm looking forward to trying it! If someone really doesn't like a flavor and it's not a healthy food (for the health conscious) it would be absolutely silly to force feed them to finish. No need for overreaction in my opinion.
@@Jon_Dang the health conscious would know beforehand what they're getting. Besides, health conscious and food conscious in this case has little to do with awareness and importance of food. I am for the respect to the people that works for your food to get into your hands, for people who suffer of hunger and malnutrition. It was not an overreaction, but a reaction. The poster gave their point, a valid one as well, but this is something worth addressing. I won't even mention that their diet is completely different than the street food they wanted to try, so what to expect? I'm glad there was no more food thrown away in the half of the video that I saw.
@@niundisponible I understand your reverence for those suffering, but if you think rationally, an increased sale of mote con huesillo has no effect on those that cannot afford their meal. Similarly discouraging people from trying new food, and decreased sales will also not affect world hunger. Trying new food is a gamble, there's no guarantee you will enjoy it--sometimes it really does not sit well with your tastes. This was the smallest size they could order and they shared it between them. People aren't perfect, things happen. Their actions caused no real harm.
I don't understand your taste, since the preparations you tasted are much healthier than much food in the United States and you are not impartial either because you don't like bread.
We certainly don't claim to be imperial. We just wanted to share out experience and give a unique perspective. We definitely are not the average-Americans. Widny in fact is Colombian first and American second. --- One of our life-long goals is to become 'super agers' and become centenarians. The American Diet, as it currently stands, could never get you there. ~Jonny
I you had tried my moms pastel de choclo, you'd have needed to invent a 6 in your ranking, cuz that thing is so good, its stupid how good it is. Also, no way you didnt try curanto. Curanto is a must.
Apologies if you feel we humiliated Chilean cuisine... We just wanted to give our opinion in our channel on TH-cam, that's why it's call TH-cam... Anywho, we think Chileans should be very proud of their food, everything did have flavor, we are just wouldn't eat some items. But the Reinta, Cordero, Guanco, and even Empanadas de Pino are pretty amazing!
Ok I understand your so-called healthy lifestyle but my question is why didn't you investigate first where to look for healthy food?, this is provocative and offensive, you could have edited that part and you would have saved yourselves a bad time answering negative comments. However this is a very bad advertisement for your YT channel, you go to a place without knowing what you eat and then throw it away, I wouldn't think twice about it. Best regards
We appreciate your view and comment. - We did hear about Mote Con Huesillos from several people and because of that reason we decided to try it. Because it did not sound appetizing to us and even looking at picture, we did decide to share just one of them, and did take about 15-20 minutes eating it slowly before we decided we couldn't finish it... We do no mean to offend, it was just not a drink/dessert for us... --- We also disagree, you should travel the world and try stuff you never heard of in your life and get a real feel and experience for it. How else will you ever know? --- We also prefer to give an honest opinion versus putting a fake positive spin on everything as you see with a lot of YT channels. --- So yes, we do not like Mote Con Huesillos.
Nooooooo MOTE CON HUESILLO is delicious, you are picky, coming from US where food is so processed I'm impressed you can be picky about our food that is 100%natural. Throwing this away was so rude, but I'm not surprised comming from who we know don't care about wasting food. Totally disrespectful
We truly don't like to waste food. This is why we only ordered one Mote Con Huesillo and shared it. But it was just too different and strange for us to finish eating it. We did ask for a smaller one, but that's the only size they seemed to have.... We truly don't mean to offend; however, I see how that is offensive. --- We have been on personal health journey for years, and we value whole natural foods and work hard to eliminate processed foods including bread, so yes, we are not average-Americans whatsoever.
You got mote con huesillo backwards. The mote is the grain at the bottom (peeled wheat) and the huesillo is the dried peach Can't quite understand how churrasco gets a 2 while completo gets a 3, since the churrasco you had was made with pan batido which is quite healthy for a white flour bread plus plain meat, while the completo bread isn't healthy and it has a super proccesed hot dog sausage lol
Thank you for the view and comment! - I thought I was saying it backwards... Ooops! - Churrasco and Completos are something we would not order often at all.... We only got them because so many Chilenos suggested to try them... So, we did! And again, we tend to eat non-processed foods and limit how much bread we eat (we are not average-Americans and Widny is Colombian/American). So for those two reasons we just can't rank either higher. Completo came in higher because it had a better flavor versus the Churrasco, quite tasty with all the toppings. ~ Jonny
Sorry but the Churrasco you two bought didn't seem good at all. Not a good representation, I think you would have need to try it in at least two places because the preparation and ingredients change a lot.
Thank you for the suggestion! - I'm sure the ingredients will change the experience of the sandwich. And trying a place that is more well known for their Churrasco Chilenos too. --- For us, since we don't eat much bread, if we toss the bread and just eat the meat and the toppings, then it would be ranked much higher.
Come for the national holidays, they last 7 days without alcohol laws, it will be the most Chilean you will see, they are celebrated all over the world in September and they are the best
This is a great idea! - We're booked for this next September, but definitely something to look out for! - Thank you for the tip!
