In re the "Unhoused" convo @1:20:20 mark. Chaz's personal story highlights why the language is an issue. He said he didn't "feel homeless" and he was living in a whole ass van! lol. So when trying to quantify the problem, so we can, you know, FIX IT, its helpful to use language that clarifies the issue, and acknowledges the shame/psychology that comes with our current use of the term "homeless".

Current DC comics is lit af. There in an era of diversity but it isn't super forced. Marvel did a similar thing around 2015 when Sam became Cap, Jane Foster Thor, Miles came into the main universe, Kamala Khan became Ms. Marvel etc. They're doing interesting new things with old characters and bringing in new characters to take over legacies. Its a great time to jump back into comics.
The Captain Marvel thing will always be confusing because thats originally Shazam. I hate talking about it lmao.
I'm just not able to understand how it is okay to tell someone you love them if they are a side piece or how side chicks complain about another woman, but not the woman you are with. I always thought a side piece doesn't care because they know they know it is just casual, but the main would complain because you are cheating. I also never heard of taking a side chick out, taking pics with her, etc. We live in a weird age where you can treat someone like a s/o and they are still a side piece. I mean what is the point of a relationship then. I thought with a relationship you do something special that you don't do with just anybody, but apparently the only difference is whether you say you are in one or not.

There are levels to side-chicks. Some just want the fun and the gifts. others think they will replace the main girl. DaBaby doesn’t exude commitment as an individual. He doesn’t honor her or their child in public or private. Acknowledge that you ignored the red flags, and you wanted Him to change. I hope she chooses the best decision for her and especially her child. Children deserve to be protected by their parents, not be hurt by them in that way.

I don’t know what happened with these two but in general I think society takes bringing life into the world too lightly. Being responsible for raising a kid is too important to just be so casual about the activities that can lead to it, especially if you don’t have a plan for if it happens. And it has happened too many times in history for folks to think they can be the exception to the rule when they haven’t put in any work to be the exception.

I don't think that is the issue today. I think the issue is people using children to try and force a situation. I hate people using kids as any reason for anything in a relationship whatsoever. Valuing the life of the child is absolutely possible without being in a relationship with the other parent.

The homeless vs unhoused verbiage has to do with using person first language. Homeless implies certain stigmas that may cause implicit bias. Unhoused actually is short for person who is unhoused and has been used in academic research for a while.

It's not really that people don't want to work. The pandemic just gave people a lot of different ways to make money, MORE money, than the jobs that they had before. Many went back to school, many started businesses, etc.
I used to waitress many years ago and so many people would come in and treat us like crap or ask why we don't have a REAL job? The pandemic also showed how these jobs that people looked down on are needed so much and let people know they don't have to be treated like less than. Then you've got all these jobs that won't hire felons but complain about a worker shortage.
Some ppl really just don't want to work.
@@MrReedGrantberry pandemic funds were cutoff here in June and companies, 90% of them being low paying, are having problems finding workers. Same in every other red state that thought ending the unemployment would force people back to those jobs. It didn't. The vast majority of these jobs are retail or restaurants that have been lowballing workers for years. The thing is now the workers have the power, thus no one wanting to go risk covid for 9 dollars an hour when they likely aren't even covered under the company's insurance. Places like walmart pay their employees so shitty that they actually encourage them to apply for food stamps...WHILE working. That's the problem.

As a Therapist let me help shed some light on the code clinicians are to follow...What you say in therapy is confidential HOWEVER if you disclose thoughts/acts of self-harm or harming others, your Therapist has to disclose to proper authorities. This includes criminal acts and abuse/neglect of minors, etc. This is the case now because of certain criminal cases so Therapists/clinicians now have the "duty to warn" mandate meaning warning about credible threats. Also, clinician records can be subpoenaed for use in court and clinicians can also be called to testify.

Love, y'all. Came here to say that the shift to "houseless or unhoused" is designed to highlight how broad housing insecurity is as a public policy issue. When housing advocates are fighting for resources, one of the challenges is that people are not likely to say that know a "homeless" person, BUT we all know people that are couch surfing, on the verge of evictions, living in their vans (looking at you Chaz), in extended stays, being priced out of gentrifying communities, etc etc. The cost of real estate in this country is nuts, and is impacting college educated gainfully employed folks now as well, but there is so much middle class shame that it is hard to raise the alarm like we need to.

You do it but they end up snitching on you and you lose your job…but the judge says you can either do a year in jail and the kid gets to graduate or you get to keep your job and let the kid get left back and pay for all court and lawyer fees. I need answers lol
