I really like this unit because it has an analog sweep meter you can see in the daylight, a very important old school AU meter. Trying to look at a flickering LCD is no help to get to the proper gamma match feed impedance when you're hanging in a bucket working on a huge muti band HF antenna. The digital is only good when you get it mechanically or coil box switcher set to a fixed 50-52 ohm reading on all bands. Think about doing that with a fancy USB driven VHF/UHF analyzer while balancing your laptop in a bucket truck 40+ feet in the air swaying in the wind while you set the driven band gamma match rods. There's an old school saying that you can't get the best of both worlds, running UHF requires LM400 coax or using any fancy UHF analyzer bridge will be a worthless endeavor as far as loss. LM400 gives a 52 ohm load so an antenna tuner may be needed when used on a HF rig. I didn't see any benefit for the LM400 on my HF antenna but it's a must if you are running 2 meter through 70 CM and beyond. I had to beg times microwave and lie like a contractor to get 250 feet of that stuff many years ago at .45 cents per foot.
My MFJ 259C has a momentary button when I turn it on. I have to keep the power button depressed when it is on. It will not stay on when I depress the button. Can use it as is but it is annoying. KD4MAN
MY 259C drifts so bad that it is virtually unusable, ANYONE know how to make it stop drifting? Parts replacement?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Walt N5EQY

Can this be used without the batterys and by power plug only?
