Teddy Gentry isn’t just the bassist for Alabama - the best selling country music band of all time - he’s an innovator in the cattle industry too! He’s been working on the genetics for a new breed of cattle capable of thriving on forage alone all across the Southeast United States!
After hearing about intensive grazing systems in New Zealand back in the 80’s Teddy was inspired. There was just one problem - the climate of Alabama needed a new kind of cow for a new kind of grazing.
South Poll cattle are light colored to beat the heat, low to the ground to thrive on grass, and docile to allow for easier handling.
Now, farmers and customers all across the Southeast and beyond seek out the nutrient dense, profitable beef Teddy’s hard work has created - giving small farm families new reason to hope for the future.

Country music legend raising cattle. Hero.

The rich are the only people that can afford it now because both dems and republicans for 30 years have systematically driven local farmers out of business with big ag lobbyists influencing regulations, the intentional flooding of markets, the taxation and inflated production costs and don’t forget all the amazing wealth transfers (basic legal theivery) through driving out all competition, while they lie (and dum dums believe) that a free market exists in American while they tax from every angle possible without representation.

🇺🇸
One of the best bands of the 20th century.
South polls are such a sturdy and sweet breed !!! Rotational grazing makes great sense, much better for your pasture’s ! Teddy you’re a great leader !! ❤️🦘
That’s what a humble man looks like.
I was born country, and this country's what I love...
Teddy, Randy, Jeff and Mark. Seen them about 20 times over 30 years. ❤️🤠
Striving for changes and holdin' on to the love, that's the way ❤
Very smart. This is a good breed for the South. Kudos to this breeder. 👍👍👍
Ha! Before I even understood what he said I was looking like, damn he looks familiar from somewhere. My mom was a HUGE Alabama fan. Glad to see he’s happy
Christmas in Dixie is the most beautiful Christmas song. I still love Alabama ❤
Hope we get another farewell tour...
I grew up with Alabama music .
Good ol boys .
Went from being a legend to being a different kind of legend. What a guy.
Well said

I have Waygu and brangus and rotational graze and do well here in south Arkansas. Y’all keep up the good work and keep on grazing! Alabama rocks. Listened to them since they started.
Where about in southern Arkansas? I’m over here in NE Louisiana
I think the spelling is wagyu not waygu. Cheers.
@@manuelve1998it is… I don’t believe any of that mess he said. Never have understood why so many people just have to pull shit out of their ass 😂
So does my rancher friend. Rotational grazing- central Arkansas. You make sure there's some trees for them to lay under, and water to drink.
@@dottypitchell208 So thoughtful of a friendly reminder for U to say ❤ God will bless U Dotty for Ur big caring heart for His animals 🐂🕊🐂🕊🐂🕊🙏🤲🕊✝️😇🐂❤
Excellent work, and creative breeding. Texas American reds. Brafords, ect..
Just knowing dude grazes cattle makes me wanna search up some of that fantastic music they made. Keep ranchin man. I hate goin to my day job. Rather be with my cattle
Song of the South is a good one
I wouldn’t have recognized him but soon as he said it I did! Cool he’s hip to rotational grazing
Neat😊 I love learning the back stories on livestock and methods.😊
This is fantastic!
I would recognize him in a minute. Alabama was my first love affair with music. To this day at 55 years old they are still my favorite country music group. 👍✌️🥰
A friend of mine showed cattle with them back in the day. Down home kind country folk.
That's awesome. One adventure after another. I will always love Alabama. That was the music of my childhood. I love that these guys are cattlemen too! Much respect.
I'm proud of all you farmer's showing that taking care of God's land he is blessing all of you. Now we need to stop taxing farm land owners
Literally just SWEET 💕💕💕!😂
Teddy was always my favorite.
I love that dude ❤
In the 80’s, a small time worship music band from our church here in Maine, traveled south to perform at a venue that was hosting Alabama later in the night. The wife of the drummer hadn’t packed for cold weather and was sitting on a bench, shivering while holding her young son. A member of Alabama walked by, noticed she was cold, gifted her his jacket and walked off without further comment. Pretty good people.
Southern gentlemen! 👍
Hell yes talked to a friend in New Zealand 🇳🇿 ya all hear that
If u have questions, we have done it all in NZ just ask a Kiwi
Ha ha, no no no, you know us Americans did everything thing first and best! I kid, I kid.....
You guys just need to get past that government push for herd reduction.
My pawpaw who was born in 1899 did rotational grazing with black angus. His farm was old and the pastures were sectioned off with trees and a creek. It was wonderful to be there.
Aight then. Thank you.
His answer to the question on whether it will be successful shows a great deal of humility.
I recognized him immediately!!
Feels so right is spectacular
I grew up listening to ALABAMA in the 80's and would camp out overnight at the music venue to get front row seats at their concerts !! Lol I did this for a few years and that is when they performed in Waco, Texas . It was always so much fun !! Great music!!
South poles💥. Beautiful cattle... Greg Judy is where I first seen this breed..
❤🙏
THE BEST BASSIST FOR THE GREATEST AMERICAN BAND PERIOD
So good to see this advanced thought
I saw Alabama play at a Denver Gold football game back in the day. What a great show they did. 👍👍👍
I knew. Lol one of my all time favorite bands.
He'd never fool me. I'd know that hair anywhere.
That is a love ur family answer ❤😂
Look into the Braunvieh breed. Very adaptable to both climate and cross breeding.
And a great attitude. Excellent breed.
Swiss Browns are great- bit frisky sometimes.
@@guentherwilke2055 the American Brown Swiss dairy cattle are direct desendants of the imported Braunveih beef cattle, and the results over the decades have been shipped back to use in the dairy version of the Braunvieh cattle.
I'm an 80s kid whose parents always had the radio on the local country station. Alabama was one of my favorite bands. My mom took me to go see them back then at the Mid State Fair in Paso Robles California.
This is amazing
Hell yeah. Good for you!
Greg Judy has this breed and sells them
Alabama is the best band ever!
Omg i loved these guys
Funny, they cow farmers like i ended up doing....

@@feisty181 oh my gawd you're right! Hahaha
I grew up hearing both as a kid, but never knew who I was listening to! 😆😂🤣
Thanks for clarification!
I drove for them, "Alabama", for a short time at the jamboree in Alabama. Drove them back up to Ft Payne to the mountain top. They did a benefit gig up at Randy's place. They are the nicest men! Very personable! My neighbor heard about me doing this and was surprised. He is a breeder of Black Angus. He also has the knowledge of the chemistry to artificially impregnate his cows. He's a HUGE Alabama fan!
Iowa here: thank goodness for subtitles. Love your music ❤❤❤
Some rich people are trying out expe$ive Japanese cattle here.
Always wished that Teddy would do a lead in a song or two through the years I think he they have been pretty good😊
Saw Randy at the Fort Worth livestock show.. He was just couple of rows down from me. Just sitting y himself. No one harassing him. He blended in well with the crowd
Atta boi teddy
The cousin across the street, Randy Owen, was the lead singer for Alabama.
My dad's favorite band
Beautiful cow
One of my favorite voices.
Gotten high with these boys hundreds of times of the last 30 years.. good music good times..
Beautiful cows
Many years ago i was at a cattle sale in Ft Payne when i noticed Randy setting a few people down from me. Alabama was already in their prime but no one there thought much about him being there. At the end of the sale i approached him, shook his hand and asked if i could get a autograph. I had him autograph a dollar bill for me, its all i had to sign.
As big as the group had gotten, in Ft Payne he was just Randy.
Still have it framed on the wall in my reloading room.
I met Teddy and Jeff a year later at a show in Ft Payne.
This mans voice was my entire childhood.
Still performing 🎭 💙
Those are some cute cows!
We have 4 South Polls! They are great. We have limited space and rotate them with Kune Kune pigs and goats. They are GREAT!
My Dad saw them when they 1st started out in a little club in Myrtle Beach ❤
He's the one that started south polls?! Right on!
A friend of mine was asked to play keyboard for Alabama just before their first hit he said nah after this summer ive got to get a regular job ,,the band he was in and Alabama were in Myrtle Beach SC for the summer.RIP Pat Morgan....
I saw em perform at Lackland Air Force Base many years ago . One of my favorite country bands next to Dwight Yokum and George Strait and Willy Nelson .
Im glad yall got caption ❣️
good to see he's still around and living a rural life. i'm in KY so i think we're not south enough to need special cattle, far as i know. that might change in the next decade or so though. it gets up to 100 in the summer now, didn't used to do that.
This guy bought cattle from my grandpa in the 80s all the way in Spokane Washington.
I didnt know yall raised cattle in alabama,i heard its a beautiful state, Texas sends its regards in full
“Song, song of the South…poll” 🎶
I was born and raised in North Carolina and I had to listen to his first couple sentences twice before I could understand him. Lol....l love American accents.
I was listening to him talk and it reminded me of Charlie Daniels.
Great to see him enjoying his cattle.
Woooo ooo play me some mountain music!
Country boys doing country boy things.
Elvin Leadfoot don’t tell anybody he’s a country rock star either:)
Funny Right?
"Oh play me some mountain music!"
I started buying eggs from folks that rotate their chickens from pasture to pasture. I'd be interested in this as a product, too.
American Whitepark cattle are very adaptable too.
Black Angus been doing it for over 20 years here, over 200 head could amp around 3/5 pastures on 600 acres just minerals and cubes to add nutrition more so
Real mountain music
ALABAMA MAAAAAAAN!
Scottish highlands have been around forever and mine do well in extreme heat and cold on minimal feed.
I recognized him before the introduction.
North Alabama native! Roll Tide
yeah I've been up to their farm just north of us outside of fort Payne
Aight then.
So interesting ... I want to know more ...
Southpoles are high dollar these days. They are proven. The definitely created a good breed.
I didn’t recognize him, but that wig sure did look familiar!
Kiwi connection, cool
I'd know him anywhere. .. 😏🤨🤔
I wish you would post the full videos also, the short are just annoying.
I'm in the dexter's, I don't think we have to come up with a new breed, I think we should be looking back at what we had.
Good natured hardyanimals.
Hello Teddy, I live a couple of counties over in Clarendon. I am very interested in turning my farm into something like this. Can we possibly talk?
Sounds like my fiance. Most couldn't understand the slur language 😂
Me on the other hand, I'm a pro
