  • This is celebrating the completion of my long wanted B&O Chessie SD40-2 .There are approximately 100 S Scale SD40-2 TOTAL made by Overland in 1983. The mostly do not run well and have lots of issues with cold solder joints. The handrails always pop off. The cross braces that hold the shell to the walkway and frame pop off. Is short it is a LOT of rather skilled work to get them running. Seeing 5 SD40-2 running in one place is really something special. I will have more running soon. 3 SD40-2 would pull this train but 5 are better. There is about 15 feet between the locos and caboose. Count the cars as they go by! I am guessing it is about 70 feet long.

Very nice! In my opinion I think S scale is a quite underrated and forgotten scale for trains. Very cool layout you got as well.

Nice. Looks like you had some folks break into some of your intermodal containers. Thieves are everywhere.

Thanks. It was somewhat accidental to have containers with open doors. The fact is that the Husky Stack cars are really light and not usable empty. Even the plastic Des Plaines containers are not enough weight so I use die cast containers from the 1/64 model truck hobby to add weight. THAT added enough weight, and they have opening doors. It made for good photos and made comments as well.

Nice run by. I had no idea that variety of freight cars was available in S Scale.

Thanks. I am in S Scale for 36 years now. I try my best to get cars that are not common in S Scale some I built and some were built by others. You can poke around here if you are curious. www.lanestrains.com/My_Models.htm

Look at the covered hopper car in the background. Then look at these engines and cars. *ZERO WEATHERING*. They may as well be American Flyer - tinplate.
