They are amazing. I fell in love with Ibanez as soon as I picked up my first one.

My RG560 Grape Ice turned 33 this year and it still plays great with 2 stock single and 1 DiMarzio Evolution humbucker. And Paul Gilbert is always awesome :)
Epic, epic epic epic!!! Ibanez and Paul Gilbert FTW! Ibanez made their infamous metal machine RG and Mr. Gilbert was shredding 'em when I was born! There's something so cool and fascinating about that :D So glad and proud to own an RG570 of my own. Whatever Paul said about the RG, I +10!! I'd love to have that Road Flare Red one!
i've had the rg1550 prestige for like 5 years... it's amazing.. besides i put seymour duncan pickups on it... and i think it looks much better than most of the other ibanez guitars out there... i cant believe ibanez stopped making them
I love the stock guitar that they sent Paul, I have always wanted that guitar ever since I seen him play that guitar... I think I am going to get a vintage RG550 for my next guitar, I really like the old style Neck joint on them compared to the neck joint on new Ibanez guitars...
I own the road flare red one. And I have to say that this video doesn't do the guitar's color justice. The red damn near burns my eyes out looking at it!
Our local GC just happened to have one in the used guitar section. It was love at first sight, I tried her out and she played like butter. :) I traded a couple of my other project axes for it the next day.
none of the stores around here seem to have one and i cant find it online anywhere, also took a look at a couple prestige rgs and they didnt seem to be anywhere online either... like wtf lol
The RG is probably the most versatile guitar on the planet. Its good for blues, jazz, rock, hard rock, shred, even down to the blackest of black METAL!
Very true! It has some gorgeous clean tones. You hardly ever hear about them because everybody is so focused on the metal. But, it sounds great clean on all 5 positions. Run it through a chorus and it sounds bad ass for ballads.
I used to have a Japanese RG470, and it was a lovely guitar, I also own the RG7420 7 String guitar which is also built in Japan, I sold my 470 a few years ago, and I seriously regret getting rid of it because it was a beautiful guitar, though, it is practically the same as my 7 string, except the 7 string only has 2 humbuckers and no single coil p/up in the middle, the 7 string has the same type of humbuckers as the 470, and it also has the same Low TRS2 bridge which I really like...
@12yearoldyngwie1 when you roll the volume knob back, it takes a lot of distortion out. the "volume" knob on electric guitars is more of a gain knob. also when you split the humbuckers into single-coils, a lot of distortion is lost, too. so splitting pickups + rolling the volume down, while having a distortion channel, gets you an almost clean sound. also he could just be using different channels within the amp itself.
I just got one today for Christmas :) I really need to get used to the jumbo frets and it need some better pickups, but all in all it's a pretty cool guitar.
@vitcunhaaa That is called a dime squeal and it is done by lightly touching one string on a harmonic spot, causing a note to ring out, and then pulling up on the whammy bar. Harmonic spots are places where if you lightly touch the string, a high pitched note rings out. They exist all over the neck and repeat in octaves. One harmonic spot is right above the fifth fret on every string. (Literally above the fifth fret (the metal part))
i have an rg550 which made in japan and im using it for 13yrs already!!they sound really great!!i bought it 1994 i think??color red its almost the same as paul gilbert showed it here!!
hi, ive been playing guitar for about 5 years now and ive still got a begginer fender squire bullet strat a noobish peavey, and 2 good acoustics, im self taught and i dont really know what guitar to get next or what i should trying to learn to get better, im trying to learn solos like crazy train, and some of the guns n roses but im not sure if i need a better guitar or not what should i get?
I bought my RG550 back in 1990 along with a Marshall JCM900. Had many other guitars and amps along the way, but there's nothing that comes close to that 550. The original paintwork (bought it in white because that was the only one available in the shop) is gone to the wood on so many spots, neck has broken (repaired it myself and I take pride: that repairs still lasts) aso, but hey: they can take all they want from what's in my house but NOT that Ibanez RG550!
Heck yea. I got mine on clearance, which sweetened the deal, but it didn't even need to be sweetened. I'm having trouble with my trem though, but all I really need is to have it set up.
hey i don't know much about elec guitars, so i wanna ask you something. is an ibanez SAS36FM a good guitar to buy??? is it better than a fender squier??? plz answer 'cuz i wanna get an ibanez and liked that model
so what i love to think about is what if the road flare red i have is the one from this video??? only about 400 or so made, those are some decent odds!
Hi ideclarepenis, is your new black RG550XX is every bit as good as Paul Gilbert says ? Looks like a very impressive guitar ! Do you have any photo's or video's to show your new axe..cheers
I own an original rg 550 every one who has played it calls it a butter neck jamin guitar mine has ben abused giged jamed gone thrue a trailer house wall and still tears it up the old pickups sting ring true and I would give my life for it !
There is this really small allen head in the trem in the big allen head, you unlock that and then ajust and then lock it. I don't know why they did that. I'm going by one of the original RG550s, I think the remakes are the same.
can u guys tell me .... those floyd trem on ibanez .. which ones are the so called equivalent to " original floyd rose " ?? issit the Edge Tremolo or Zero edge ??
@numetal2011 RG350DX or RG350EX, largely the same apart from the colour. I've had an EX for 3 or 4 years with a few problems, but mostly a great guitar. Great action and really resonant and twangy.
@alaanees I didnt mean that this guitar has bad sustain or sound, i meant that it has less then say a neck through body guitar. These guitars are great, I have played many S and SV guitars, and the sound is amazing (especially the pickups).
This video alone brings back so many memories.
Same here
I've still got my original Black RG 550 with R/W fingerboard, still plays like a dream 20 years 20 years later. :) Nathan.GREAT guitars
It;s almost 2017...time for the 30th anniversary RG550? Fucking better be!
It's about to hit a 30th anniversary.
They are amazing. I fell in love with Ibanez as soon as I picked up my first one.
My RG560 Grape Ice turned 33 this year and it still plays great with 2 stock single and 1 DiMarzio Evolution humbucker.
And Paul Gilbert is always awesome :)
Ibanez is so amazing... so is Paul Gilbert! Thanks Paul!!!!
I love seeing Paul with a locking trem guitar, he never plays them anymore, but he still has incredible control over them! INSANE!
4:19 I love his laugh in the end after doing that crazy solo!
Epic, epic epic epic!!!
Ibanez and Paul Gilbert FTW! Ibanez made their infamous metal machine RG and Mr. Gilbert was shredding 'em when I was born! There's something so cool and fascinating about that :D
So glad and proud to own an RG570 of my own. Whatever Paul said about the RG, I +10!!
I'd love to have that Road Flare Red one!
I have the Road Flare Red one had it for a couple months and out of the other guitars I have it's my absolute favorite.
got an RG550DYM from 1990, never thought this axe would be a classic, glad i kept it.
i've had the rg1550 prestige for like 5 years... it's amazing.. besides i put seymour duncan pickups on it... and i think it looks much better than most of the other ibanez guitars out there... i cant believe ibanez stopped making them
I just got the RG1550 in a fantastic pumpkin yellow/orange with black pickguard, of course. I love this guitar.
Mr. Paul Gilbert Always A genius!!! and friggin' hilarious too!
great demo!
I knew that Mr. Paul Gilbert is a great guitar player, but I didn't know that he is a magician too...
Man, Paul Gilbert is fun; and a great guitar player as well
must say i do want one of those!!
theres a few in the nearest large music shop and they r so tempting!
Awesome video, this is the first time I actually heard paul use a tremolo, hehe.
I started on an original RG550. I always loved it but never knew Paul Gilbert played on. They may not be super valuable but I like em.
I just bought a 1987 RG550 after missing my old RG1570. Very excited!
Amazing guitar
I love the stock guitar that they sent Paul, I have always wanted that guitar ever since I seen him play that guitar...
I think I am going to get a vintage RG550 for my next guitar, I really like the old style Neck joint on them compared to the neck joint on new Ibanez guitars...
always wanted one of theses
that red is blazin!
I own the road flare red one. And I have to say that this video doesn't do the guitar's color justice. The red damn near burns my eyes out looking at it!
i cant seem to find one of these anywhere... damn it lol i wanna get hold of one
+warhammer265 if you look online you can probably find an original one. That's where I'm got mine
A little bit too expensive. Apart from the paint job is a very regular guitar. Basswood.. thats not expensive. Nostagia galore
Run it through a chorus and it sounds bad ass for ballads.
im in loooove with the yellow one
I used to have a Japanese RG470, and it was a lovely guitar, I also own the RG7420 7 String guitar which is also built in Japan, I sold my 470 a few years ago, and I seriously regret getting rid of it because it was a beautiful guitar, though, it is practically the same as my 7 string, except the 7 string only has 2 humbuckers and no single coil p/up in the middle, the 7 string has the same type of humbuckers as the 470, and it also has the same Low TRS2 bridge which I really like...
@alaanees i know what you mean, but since its a small body, the vibration of the strings leaves the body quicker, hence less sustain
man, I would love one of those guitars, I like the red color the best!
Do they make one without the pickguard and in different colors
I've 2002 rg550.I love it.5 stars guitar also 5 stars video.Thanks Ibanez :-)
Looks good
first time i played on a ibanez guitar i didnt like it at all but after a while i became familiar with the neck and it was amazing!!
The Black one is gorgeous
That's the exact price I got my RFR for. That's a steal. We were both laughing all the way to the bank! ;)
i have a question in the mr. big solo he dosnt use a distortion pedal how does he go from clean to distortion
I just got one today for Christmas :)
I really need to get used to the jumbo frets and it need some better pickups, but all in all it's a pretty cool guitar.
Ibanez should hire You to write their ads. You're brilliant =)
Never Regret Ibanez Sound FX.

@Floodzone004 what kind of repairs just curious im happy for now with my jackson
does anyone know what kind of laney that was behind him? if so about how much is it or one like it?
well it's either a capo which basically moves the nut up, or it's a hair tie to mute the strings to help clean up your playing.
Finally, i bought one at ebay, neck is simply unbeliavable.
i have an rg550 which made in japan and im using it for 13yrs already!!they sound really great!!i bought it 1994 i think??color red its almost the same as paul gilbert showed it here!!
I have an RG550 with a custom bigsby vibrato and it still sounds cool
hey some guitarist put a clip on the neck of the guitar .... whats the clip called ??? and whats the use of it ?
I have the Roadflare Red. Neck feels incredible on it
hi, ive been playing guitar for about 5 years now and ive still got a begginer fender squire bullet strat a noobish peavey, and 2 good acoustics, im self taught and i dont really know what guitar to get next or what i should trying to learn to get better, im trying to learn solos like crazy train, and some of the guns n roses but im not sure if i need a better guitar or not what should i get?
AHHHHHHHHH The smell of WOOD !!
That feeling ! *.*
I bought my RG550 back in 1990 along with a Marshall JCM900. Had many other guitars and amps along the way, but there's nothing that comes close to that 550. The original paintwork (bought it in white because that was the only one available in the shop) is gone to the wood on so many spots, neck has broken (repaired it myself and I take pride: that repairs still lasts) aso, but hey: they can take all they want from what's in my house but NOT that Ibanez RG550!
haha, that concert they show is the one where the audio got blocked. lol. I love my RG 7321. its soooo awesome.
Gilbert for President.
Heck yea. I got mine on clearance, which sweetened the deal, but it didn't even need to be sweetened. I'm having trouble with my trem though, but all I really need is to have it set up.

How much is black one, in american dollero's, I've looked everywhere for one, but I can't find the suggested retail :(
@AnnaAnnaYes
Its a dream to play it still even has the brown tape over the jack cover on the reverse. It must be worth a fair bit!

paul kicked ass with RGs during the racer X era..before moved to PGM
i would go with the oldie ones. some of them got the aanj bolt on necks witch is pretty cool and comfotable.
@AirgunAddict256 they have a few neck thru prestiges, they just arent new anymore
I want this guitar. Bad that it only was a limited edition
Can someone tell me if js1000 with an orange amp is a good combination?
so what i love to think about is what if the road flare red i have is the one from this video??? only about 400 or so made, those are some decent odds!
I want this guitar so bad!
What version of Technical Difficulties is that in the background, I've never heard it before?
Hi ideclarepenis, is your new black RG550XX is every bit as good as Paul Gilbert says ?
Looks like a very impressive guitar ! Do you have any photo's or video's to show your new axe..cheers
hair looks really kool and sounds good with that hair at 3:54

@WinstonSpongeworthy Hey dude, no problem, having a fixed bridge does make life much easier, too. Glad I could help.
Nice...

I'm going by one of the original RG550s, I think the remakes are the same.

hey ... does people prefer red guitar or black ?
I want an original, not the re-issue. anyone know where to get one?
@ACiDgaming9796 that's actually Paul's signature model. you can tell by the painted on f-holes.
Forgive me to ask this here. How can I find Paul's personal page?
so many different people have videos but I want the source :)
Man I missed paul's racer x days when he played that whammy squealie.
i know many who despise the yellow and the red. but it's ok, black is a great classic
@numetal2011 RG350DX or RG350EX, largely the same apart from the colour. I've had an EX for 3 or 4 years with a few problems, but mostly a great guitar. Great action and really resonant and twangy.
which laney amp paul use on this video ?
someone reply fast! i'm getting a new guitar today, so should i get a ibanez or not? and don't say it depends!
It's a great guitar. Mines 20 years old.
Where can I get my hands on one?
paul gilbert is the coolest guy ever, what a legend
Is it a Edge Pro tremolo or a edge III tremolo ?
@alaanees I didnt mean that this guitar has bad sustain or sound, i meant that it has less then say a neck through body guitar. These guitars are great, I have played many S and SV guitars, and the sound is amazing (especially the pickups).
