I'm really excited about going to Dominican Republic this year, and we're staying at this resort. I have a question, what about tipping? How much one should tip? I've heard so many things about this.
Thank you for the tip on the airport transfer! We had ours booked on Viator for $52 roundtrip, but cancelled that and went on Expedia for the Coming2 deal for $36 roundtrip. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment. To be honest we didn't end up going to the downtown area. I wasn't exactly sure where it was although on the way back to the airport I did notice an area with more shopping, and yes, it was a bit far from the hotel. Perhaps some 20 minutes driving at least. It is not like Cancun if you're familiar with there where there is much outside of the hotel lumped together. We did go to a small little shopping complex which they take you to for free, however it was just some souvenirs.

I read many reviews in which they mention mold in rooms and its smells, bags, hard mattresses, doors cant lock etc.?? can you please tell about? Also please tell me how did you like buffet food?
The mattresses were pretty average. I'm not a picky sleeper though so I am probably the wrong guy to ask. Door locked fine. The buffet for lunch and dinner was fine, probably average. I recommend going to the specialty restaurants for slightly better quality food. I have stayed at places with better food, although this was my first time in DR so not sure if that was the norm. The 24/7 buffet outside is terrible to be honest. They should completely change it or get rid of it altogether as it has flies on all of the food. I can't remember if the room smelled musty but if it did, it wasn't a big deal since this is an ocean front hotel in the Caribbean so one has to expect things like that.

There was a huge group of high school kids from some school in Peru there at the time as well. The hotel also had a foam show in the pool and a bikini contest.

Hi Bernie, while I forget the exact room number, we were on the THIRD floor, and above where the main lobby is. If you are looking at the overhead view of the hotel, there are two long wings and a center rounded part where each wing juts out from. We stayed in this center part, located between each of the things. I believe these are the superior ocean view rooms. When you check in, they'll show you a map of the property so you can see exactly where your room is relative to everything. Upon check in, or preferably before check in, send them a message requesting a room closer to the children's pool. Have fun!

Thank you for leaving such a nice compliment. The disco place is in the basement of the hotel. Depending on what you like in a disco, you'll either love it or hate it. I love clubs but I'm kind of over them so may be the wrong guy to ask. It is super loud (more so than normal), foggy with the ice machines, but has a bar, and all of the flashing lights. Nothing fancy but it seemed to be packed every night!

What time does the pool and bar closes?
When I was there the bar closed around 12pm but there was an outdoor one that stayed open much later, until I think around 2am. Those hours could have change though as it's been a few years since I was there.

Ha 5:07 , last thing I remember seeing was the buffet that night before blacking out. Overall, good trip! Vodka...never again.

Hi A.J., there were premium liquors, however when I went, you had to pay extra for those. The free stuff was non-name booze.
The food .....is below average. The casino is a joke.....The beach is fabulous. The pools are a cesspools! Other than that the place is great.
The casino is a great place to get ripped-off. At least when I was there it was a scam.
