Great video Dave and great timing too. Watched your video and went out and assembled mine. An absolute trouble free setup. An engine crane and extra pairs of hands came in handy and we were up and running in no time - Thanks mate. (PS. No scratches on my tables - lol).
Good to hear that it all went well for you! As I alluded to in the video, a bit of cosmetic is no issue to me. The important thing is the quality of the cut and this machine delivers 100%.

That machine ,with a knife style cutter head,has been sold for decades under different manufacture names and painted in different colors.I have one branded as a Delta Industrial.Grizzly is another here in the U.S.,and parts can be ordered thru them.But they all come from the same factory.Same for the base.It's a good jointer as long as the beds are flat and true . Thanks for the video.

Hi Robin. This was one of the machines that was included in a list I made 5 years ago. I am very impressed with it now that I finally bit the bullet and bought it. Everything was straight, just needed a couple of tweeks.
Machine looks very nice. Probably a bit big for my shop as I am in a double garage so will probably get a 6" bed machine one day. The 1" of free play on the belt is a bit wierd, not the most efficient way to drive a vee belt in my experience, however if it starts chewing belts I would increase tension.

Hi Graham. I guess that it is an electric motor driving the cutter head, a hard turn of 180 degrees between the 2 pulleys. Not a crankshaft driving an alternator and water pump etc. in a car engine which by nature of the substantially increased horsepower and has less surface area for the belt to present due to the different parts at 90 or 60 degrees. Interested to hear your thoughts?
What I do know is there is no slippage.
+David Stanton thanks for that Dave. I can think of only two reasons for the amount of free play. 1/ the bearings on the cutter head and motor, or the motor mounts cannot handle significant load, or 2/ a bit of a safety feature if somebody less experienced than yourself jams the cutterhead, it would slip rather than throw the work back at you.
Maybe check with your video camera the amount of deflection and movement on the unloaded side of the belt when doing a full cut, if it's flapping around a fair bit I would increase tension to say 1/2" of deflection.
FYI I have done this sort of setup on a compressor that ran 10 parallel belts driven by a big 3 phase motor that drew 500 amps on full load. If you got it wrong it would throw belts, or break the crankshaft.
Please do a video on adjusting co planer. I have the Craftex version of this one and I need to get mine co planar

@David Stanton What do you use now? Looking at a Carbatec 12" combination (the one without the butterfly wings).

I have the 6 and will sell it. Not because it hasn't performed well, but because end of financial year and was always going to upgrade to a helical head...so why not add the extra width?
a"get over it princess situation". LOL i had the same issue when i first got my new mitersaw. one freakin scratch. i was so bummed. thats 6 months ago and i have made many scratches since .
It happens with just about every tool I have ever bought.

That jointer looks exactly like the Delta DJ Series jointers, correct me if I'm wrong. If I put my DJ 15 although a 6 inch side by side you couldn't tell the difference short of the color of paint. I'm not knocking Carbatec, because if it is like the DJ series you have your self a good jointer
These machines may be built in the same factory and just spray painted a different colour but I couldn't say for sure. I am happy with mine.
Thank you David, the main reason I asked is because these machines are no longer manufactured here in the U.S. Parts are rare and hard to find. I believe this to be the Delta DJ 15 Series, the table is even the exact same length for the 6" as I have. Although I believe the company from which you purchased your jointer is based In AU they are planning on shipping internationally, which is good news for me.. Parts if I need them. My machine is the metric version so I'm certain spares would fit. I think your video could be my saving grace if needed. Cheers......

Not sure if you will see this, but wanted to ask you if you know the small Carbatec 150mm table top jointer. In particular how to adjust the in-feed table which is NOT co-planar with the out-feed fixed table.
When I bought it, i noticed it at home and went to the shop to ask about it, I did not have enough experience then, the seller at Crbatec lied to my face saying that it does not matter, that the in-feed table is under angle alongside the knifes.
Any help, or link will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Ondrej. I am not familiar with any adjustment on the benchtop jointer so I can't help you with that part. I do know that Carbatec will repair or replace machines under their warranty. Which store did you purchase it from and how long ago? The best thing to do is to contact their customer service department and ask for a someone in technical assistance.
Hi David, I have the ctj-150, it's been working great but now it is not co-planer. The infeed table is 3mm high at the end (not sure what happened) Have you done a video on how to adjust this issue? Thanks in advance, Norman
Haven't done a repair video. Make sure no one has lifted the machine by the ends of the tables.
Any chance you could elaborate as to how you achieved a plane between in and out feed tables

th-cam.com/users/pmckinlay653 I can't reply to your posts for some reason. But the machine is 10 amp due to the helical head not needing as much power to cut as straight knives do.
Dave, is there a special pin spanner or tool to adjust the co-planner nuts on the machine? I have trouble adjusting the nuts on the backside under the fence.
I think there is but will have a look in the next week or two. I will definitely buy one to keep because I know that keeping co planar is a maintenance job for any brand of jointer, so good to have one in my toolbox. I will post the Carbatec code for the spanner when I get it so others can purchase if they want to.

This jointer is identical to the Delta DJ-20.
A little beauty Dave. I'm jealous not only because of the machine but to work at "The Vatican".
My mates and myself have referred to Bunnings as "The Promised Land" with their Tool Shop as "The High Altar" for a long time and when we all started to make periodic visits to Carbatec it has become "The Vatican" LOL. If I worked there I would be broke in 2 minutes flat and probably single again.
A question how is it going to interface with your dust collection?

It is connected to the same dust port that the six inch jointer was John, so no issues there.

Great video, Dave - mine just got delivered tonight. It's the updated model (the dark blue one) with the helical heads. I've now watched this video about 6 times, so I think I've got most of it in my head to assemble the thing on the weekend. But I did do the cabinet straight after the delivery - I assume that the longer, thinner bolt screws the jockey wheel straight to the frame - no nut? So it's a three-bolt connection? It's not even mentioned in the "Assembly instructions". That jockey wheel does drop the cabinet down with a bang, doesn't it? How is it once the top bed is on - does the jarring effect of the drop when you kick the tab on the jockey wheel cause any problems with alignment etc? Or have I fitted the wheel the wrong way? I have it so I stand on the pedal to raise the cabinet so that it wheels, then kick the tab back up to drop it into position.
A wonderfully helpful video - thank you :) Going to get two mates to help lift the top on at the weekend - 150Kg is a bit much for me on my own!
Hi Pete. I always lift the infeed table when I raise the unit up or lower it. I would have to open my unit up to check inside the cabinet to see if there is a nut also.
Wow - rapid response...! Thanks Dave - much appreciated. Yes, lifting the infeed end seems like the way to go. That middle bolt on the jockey wheel goes straight into a threaded receiver on the frame. Fooled me at first, but I think I got it sorted. We'll see if I'm one long, skinny bolt short at the end of the assembly :) Thanks again for your answer - great stuff. PS - which Carbatec do you work at? I'm in Brisneyland so go to the Wakerley store.

Great video Dave, but you know the first thing professionals do is throw away the guards :)
Thanks Brian! I know a lot of professionals and even amateurs throw the guards away from their table saws but I rarely see a jointer without the guard in place. I like to keep my fingers intact and hence the guards remain.

The code is CTJ-350-WRENCH. I purchased one today but tried it on one machine briefly and the prongs did not sit in neatly and slipped off, might need to file a bit off it.
