Actually, the bus leaves from Rio and makes one stop in San Paolo. That would not be too dangerous yet. The portion between Panama City all the way to the southern border of Mexico is downright nasty dangerous. Stopping them in Brazil is probably a good thing.

I am not living on Brazil right now but I always wanted to do the drive to Peru. There is a new highway going through Rondonia and Acre and I have many plans for the trip, there are definitely a lot to do in Goias and Mato Grosso, and crossing the andes will be a major event. I wish I was available to drive you guys there, would be great company.

Fly Ryan. The vet can give Patti sedatives for travelling in the hold. Not a nice idea, but the best option, I think. She will be fine. Too much stress hitchhiking with her, visas, vet documents for each country, etc.

Hello, my brother. My sister had to fly for 16 hours with a nervous dog in a cage in the cargo compartment. The veterinarian gave her sedative pills for the dog, and the dog slept in the cage the whole time and was fine. I think 5000 km in a bus or hitchhiking would be an extreme hardship for both of you, and flying would be the easiest, fastest, and most practical way for you to get to Peru. If you take to land route, it will involve many segments. Even if you manage to get transportation for both of you for any particular segment, you have no assurance that you will be able to find it for the next segment, and you might end up being stuck somewhere in the middle. You should rent a car and travel to Rio Branco - Acre, it's close to Peru. or you should go to the Tiete bus station, the company "TransAcreana" is located, which runs the São Paulo to Lima route.
The highway to Peru: São Paulo to Rio Branco in Acre, from there to Peru. 0no doubt truckers that do the route in SP are rare but once in Acre, more common. Maybe?
You were so lucky to get out of that without serious injuries. So stressful handling all of that in a foreign country and language also. 100 times worse. Hearing you relate the story, with your frantic need to find Patti, was hard to hear. I'd have been going out of my mind, too, if that was me. What got me was the way she was looking at you when you were speaking - dogs can feel your emotions and she was concerned for you. Your 3000-mile journey is like crossing the USA. A looong way to go, but between hitchhiking and hopefully using local transport (busses?) I hope someone steps up and drives you a distance.
The ideia of getting a cheap car as I read here in the comments is a very good ideia, but it would take some time, there is alot of youtube channels of people who travel all around south america with the car. Maybe it could be something, I checked skyscanner and one way ticket from SP to Lima is about R$700,00 witch is about $123. If you consider this option you can check some kind of hotel for patti for a week and go there and start on the process of building it, come back, get patti and try something out with a plane, it's only 5 hours of flight, talk to veternarians. Hitchhiking is far too dangerous, especially that you are a good guy, good soul person, positve energy.
The guy you helped at the end of the video, he wasn't hungry, he probably got the Coke and the cookies to sell, I say this because I know it there, I worked in that central region for about 5 years, and they always did that, they would go straight to my store to sell something that someone bought for them, by the way they eat very well, several restaurants in the center provide food, the city hall too It helps a lot, at the Dom Pedro II park terminal, there is a popular restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch for R$1, I won't say that they are all there, but the vast majority don't do anything all day, and still They commit petty thefts to resell at the flea market near Galeria São João, but you did your part, congratulations!!!
It could be an opportunity for you and your dog to do a new hitchhiking style trip, mainly by truck. In Brazil, truck drivers are legal. also when entering another country, find a more viable form of transport to your destination.

My first question when I saw your instagram story was also WHAT ABOUT PATTI!? I've never been so glad to follow someone who goes to the gym on a regular basis, it was so crucial in catching Patti (and probably surviving that crash!) That sounds like it was a real test of endurance. When I was a young driver my dad explained to me that if I got in an accident, regardless of whether or not it was my fault, I shouldn't apologise. Just exchange insurance details and let them determine who was at fault. I think it was something to do with being held accountable if you do apologise (especially if it is found that it wasn't your fault after all). Still though when I did rear end someone (in a car, at a very slow speed) My first instinct was to apologise. Perhaps he was following that, maybe his company trained him not to apologise?

Fly to Lima with Patty. At the end of the day it's not much more expensive, if you find a good promotion, it can be even cheaper than bus.
He will never get good air ticket prices buying it to fly in short term. Air tickets are only cheaper if you buy them to travel months later

What got me was the way she was looking at you when you were speaking - dogs can feel your emotions and she was concerned for you. Your 3000-mile journey is like crossing the USA. A looong way to go, but between hitchhiking and hopefully using local transport (busses?) I hope someone steps up and drives you a distance.

The ideia of getting a cheap car as I read here in the comments is a very good ideia, but it would take some time, there is alot of youtube channels of people who travel all around south america with the car. Maybe it could be something, I checked skyscanner and one way ticket from SP to Lima is about R$700,00 witch is about $123. If you consider this option you can check some kind of hotel for patti for a week and go there and start on the process of building it, come back, get patti and try something out with a plane, it's only 5 hours of flight, talk to veternarians. Hitchhiking is far too dangerous, especially that you are a good guy, good soul person, positve energy.

It could be an opportunity for you and your dog to do a new hitchhiking style trip, mainly by truck. In Brazil, truck drivers are legal. also when entering another country, find a more viable form of transport to your destination.

Dear Ryan, please please please consider buying an inexpensive but safe car at least to get to Peru. Also, I’m pretty sure you can buy and modify a cargo 3 wheeler into a Tuk Tuk. São Paulo has great mechanics.

My first question when I saw your instagram story was also WHAT ABOUT PATTI!? I've never been so glad to follow someone who goes to the gym on a regular basis, it was so crucial in catching Patti (and probably surviving that crash!) That sounds like it was a real test of endurance.
When I was a young driver my dad explained to me that if I got in an accident, regardless of whether or not it was my fault, I shouldn't apologise. Just exchange insurance details and let them determine who was at fault. I think it was something to do with being held accountable if you do apologise (especially if it is found that it wasn't your fault after all). Still though when I did rear end someone (in a car, at a very slow speed) My first instinct was to apologise. Perhaps he was following that, maybe his company trained him not to apologise?

É mais barato que fazer todas as modificações no tuktuk e usa motor 1.6 ou 1.8 a ar do fusca. Ele nunca vai ferver e pode colocar ate uma Fueltec.. Vai gostar muito, recomendo!

Tuk Tuk’s are allowed to be driven in the USA but there are certain roads you can drive them on and each state is different.

you put your dog in a transportadora companhia, you call Canil de Taruma, they send dogs and the transportation is inside the truck and the dog stay for some hour inside the truck. You can go this way to Foz do Iguaçu and than across the border. Or find someone who is travelling this way as youtuber.

Infelizmente ele pode ter entrado legal com seu veículo,mas todos aqui do Brasil sabem como é bem arisco andar com veículos em baixa velocidade e pequeno, nas grandes rodovias,o risco de ser atropelado é muito grande, então adianta achar que posso andar em uma grande rodoviá sem ter condições mínimas de velocidade,vai morrer na razão!!!!!!
