Hi Laura, thank you for all your videos! I just received an ileostomy 7 weeks ago. What is your opinion on barrier wipes? I have been using them because I thought they where just part of the routine. Today I used it and it burned. Is it necessary?
melody logan hi! Great questions! Barrier wipes are not necessary. They are great sometimes for putting a film over the skin to protect it, but they actually make the seal of the wafer slightly less strong. Everyone's skin is different, but personally barrier wipes caused me to leak more often. Next time, try to leave off the barrier wipe and see how your skin feels! I hope everything is going well with you and that you're feeling well!
