That first time chorus was like 🤔 for me too. But the second time around it clicked. It was like hylt when that chorus hit...expecting the buildup to blow up and it goes in a totally diff direction. The song is pretty intense upon multiple views. The visual aesthetics was elite, it's blackpink...also really curious about the dance practice choreo. They did their thing, this is a straight up banger. And someone in the comments gave the stats for views without advertising. I was checking the trend when this hit one and the next most viewed vid was around 1 to 1.5 mil views in 24hr. They also had 3 or 4 reaction to pv vids hit the trend list at the same time too. Great reaction...this song will grow fast on you and the chorus that seemed so weird just settles into your head space 😅.
Almost all BP songs get stuck in my head, no matter what they are super talented and make catchy songs. I don't think this will ever be my favorite from them, but it does get better with every listen

BlackPink has only one producer "TEDYY" of Black Label, that's why the beat patterns of DDu Ddu, kill this love, How you like that and Pink venom are similar. all ends with a dance break. Hope YG will try to venture to other producer to have a variety in Black Pink's Music. Their vocals are under utilized... Hope the B-Sides in the album will be great.
Yeah, very "anti-drop", kinda new for them, their choruses were always THE strong point of the song. I loved the first pre-chorus instrumental, I was hoping that sound to be bigger in the chorus. The first chorus was weird but by the second chorus I expected that already.

The rap part is by far the highlight of the song. I wouldn't have minded a whole song like that to be honest, that would have been unique. I also agree with your opinions on the chorus, I think it is too "thin." I wish it had more music in the chorus. I also think the "ratatata" is a bit repetative, and IMO lazy writing, I wish it had been an actual lyric. This is a good song to add to the Blackpink mix, but it is also not my favorite, and btw I have listened to this song about 20 times now. I look forward to the title song release and album and what it has on it.

The Anti-drop kills it for me every time. I don’t hate the song by any means but the anti-drop and the “onomatopoeia” at the end of the song are the difference in making this a strong song compared to just “mid”. It’s not bad but it’s not their best.
