If you’re still going for two after a 15-yard OPI call, you’d better come up with a magnificent play call and execute it. That looked like a much taller order from there.
Thank you. This is such a stupid video that JG9 made. Remember how people said the Lions cost themselves by continuing to go for 2 from the SEVEN? Yet JG9 faults the cowboys for not going for 2 from the 17. Don’t let his clickbait content fool you
He does have a good point. If you make the unlikely 2pt conversion you greatly increase the chance of a win. It comes down to if he thought it was more likely to score the two point and make two more touchdowns+conversions or make extra point + 2 touchdowns + field goal. Having that extra drive for a field goal is a tall order when you consider you have to stop GB an extra possession, which you haven’t been very successful at. I’d say his rant is a bit overdramatic though
To play devils advocate; if you kick the extra point you are down 17 points. That’s two touchdowns (with extra points) and a field goal to tie the game. Yes, it is still a three possession game, but it is easier than making three two point conversions. And remember, if you miss any of those three two point conversions it becomes a three score game again. If you really believe Dallas was going to make three two point conversions then going for two was the better option. If you think Dallas was going to miss one two point conversion then keeping that third score as a field goal is something you need to consider doing. Obviously McCarthy thought he wasn’t going to make that 12 yard two point conversion, so he went with plan B so that all he would need to do is kick a field goal on his final possession.
I see your point, but I think you still have to try to get it within two scores. Either way, this is not even in the top ten of bad things the Cowboys did yesterday.
Don't forget, they got the two point conversion.... if it wasn't for the penalty on them. That's why they decided to go for one. It is harder to get the two that far out.
Yea I wonder what the % chance is from that distance to convert. It would take a lot of maths to statistically break down all the chances but it seems they just conceded the 3 score game at that point and you're upping your chances to successfully get what you need out of those scores later.
ur overthinking this, u still go for 2 to cut to try and cut it to a 2 possession game, especially the way the cowboys defense was playing. The difference between an 17 & 18 pt game is just a 2 pt conversion, but the difference between a 16 & 17 pt game is a whole another possession.
The only logic behind the extra point is this: If you're not confident in making the 12-yard 2 point conversion, taking and making the extra point brings up a different form of math. It's still a 3-score game but increases your odds. Making the extra point brings it to 2 touchdowns, two extra points and a field goal to reach overtime, missing the extra point is the same result as missing the 2-point conversion - needing 2 touchdowns, a field goal, an extra point, and a 2-point conversion to make overtime, barring any Packers scoring Calling up a play to work on the conversion after a penalty is objectively the worse decision, as it's much harder to convert and leaves you with math that requires you to go for MORE conversions just to TIE. Mike McCarthy was playing the low-risk probability game that comes with old school thinking, not the high-risk high-reward game that comes with newer-age thinking. Going for wins with ONE two-point conversion has bitten coaches in the ass in the past when they could have just played for OT, imagine banking on THREE of them, likely needing three DIFFERENT plays.

There IS a difference being down 18 points versus 17. Down 18, you need THREE TDs. Down 17, TWO TDs and a Field Goal at least ties it and you could hope to send it into OT and prevail. Last time I checked, a FG is easier to score than a TD. McCarthy made the right call. Lighten up.
This is THE STUPIDEST VIDEO of Wild Card Weekend because this extra point didn't even matter at the time because the game was already over for the Cowgirls by this point!
When I saw this, I said out loud to my grandma "This is about to be a Dumb Decisions episode. Turning a three-score game into a three-score game." By the end of the game, I was thinking it'd either be this or the pass play on third down later in the game with two and a half minutes left.
Honestly, this extra point attempt wasn't even the dumbest decision Mike McCarthy had made this game. The dumbest decision was settling for a field goal when the Cowboys were down 27-7. When he settled for 3 points, I knew Mike McCarthy was too conservative a head coach to go for 2 while backed up at the 15-yard line.
Remember how badly the Boys started against the niners. Difference is a horrible no call pass interference against Deion Sanders. The boys barely lost because of it. Way different team.
Issue is that they need 3 drives to either tie or win and with the way the packers offense was playing you need to give yourself the best chance of winning or atleast tying the game
You're still in the 3rd qtr, cutting the lead to 17 would have some value over having it be 18. I didn't have a big problem with McCarthy's decision there since the try was from the 12. The bigger issue was the Cowboys defense which had more holes than the swiss cheese I got from the deli the other day.
17 over 18 points almost had no value what a dogshit mindset to have, It may be true that it's unlikely, but like he said with the onside kick comparison, it's a necessary risk that you HAVE to take to improve your odds of winning. Time is running out and with the way GB is playing, you might only get the ball back 2 times, maybe 3. This late in the game and trailing this far, you HAVE to look at possessions over points. You need to cut this to a two possession game before the 4th quarter because you might not get the ball back enough times to score the requisite points to tie it otherwise.
17 pts is 2 tds w/ made 1pt pat and fg Thats the logic after the failed 2pt pat The game plan was, defense starts playing and stuffs Green Bay, drive for 2 tds and tie the game with a fg at the end of regulation. 18 minutes is plenty of time for that.

The Rams deserved to lose that game on that decision alone, forgoing a drive to get some points when you know the Lions offense is not going to let up.

That third score would’ve been a field goal instead of a second score being a touchdown with a two point conversion. But I would agree that the potential of needing to complete only two drives is slightly better.
I have agreed with virtually 100% of these Dumb Decisions. This one is not clear to me and kicking the extra point seems maybe better. Here is why. There is still 18 mins to play in the game. Being down by 17 means they can get 2 TDs with extra points plus a FG to tie. There's enough possessions left in game to do this. If it was well into 4th quarter it's a different story though. Going for 2 at the 12 yard line is a lower probability chance of success and even if you get it, you still need two 2 point converted TDs to tie. If you assume a 2 pt conversion is a little under 50%, it's a pretty low chance anyways. Seems more likely to get a third score being a FG instead.
This play felt wrong at the time but Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olson were talking about how it was the right choice and I started second guessing myself.
Hahaha the worst part is basically McCarthy didn’t know a single play we used on the Packers even though HE LITERALLY WAS OUR PREVIOUS HEAD COACH!!! Like one or two plays should have been familiar to him, nope
Jerry Jones needs to clean house. He needs to start with his general manager (Yeah, I know: that's my point: he should be the first casualty.) He should let other people evaluate 🏉stuff, and stick to what he does well, money stuff. He won three titles with the team Jimmy Johnson built and has won none since, and will win none for the rest of his life because his ego and his nepotism get in the way. Full disclosure: I once was a Cowboy fan, but I've never forgiven Jerry Jones for not finding Tom Landry a more dignified exit. I hope Jerry Jones has a long and futile life.
Once they were pushed back to the 25 yard line, going for 2 would've been the dumbest call to make. 1 play to get 25 yards or you're down by 3 TDs??? C'mon now. Attempting an extremely low probability play to net 1 point still makes the game a three score game. Missing an extremely low probability 2pt play makes it 3 TDs to win. Kicking the extra point at that distance is an extremely high probability play to make it 2 TDs and a FG to tie (aka Not losing). It was the easiest call McCarthy could make all game.
The game wasn't over. The 4th didn't even start yet. Anything still could've happened. IMO, the correct call would've been to kick the XP. It's a tall ask to get a 10+ yard 2 point conversion.
Lost bunch of dfs contests from that game especially in garbage time and Reed had a bad game. Whats funny is all those memes from that game when the cowboys down 27 0
As a Washington fan, the only bad thing about this stomping is that it increases the possibility of the Cowboys changing coaches and getting one that isn’t on dumb decisions as often…
you really think that this one dumb decision was going to turn the game around? the cowboys were out played in every part of this game. Dak throwing ints and "DEM BOYS" lack of defense were the game changers.
This unofficial Official Jaguar Gator 9 historian will remind everyone you made a video about another Cowboys coach, Dave Campo, making his own Dumb Decision (TM) in going for one on Thanksgiving Day 2001.
The idea was to turn the three scores from 3 TD to 2 TD and an FG. Missing the extra point made it 3 TD again They didn't lose the game because of this. It was the 3 added TD GB made.
The odds of making three 2 point conversions is so slim even before one of them is from 12 yards away. When you are in that position I think you have to understand that you are just going to need four scores to come back from 24 down. The most two point conversions made in the league all season long was Cleveland with six-- you are not going to make three in one game. This kick flat out was not the problem yesterday.
A little?? Try like more than 80 percent more unlikely. And something that has occurred in about 0.09% of games. When your strategy is literally something that happens once in 500 games, you better have a plan B.@@JakeSmith-li7vd

Another Dumb Decisions video involving Mike McCarthy. What if McCarthy can’t find another job after he gets fired from Dallas?
When I saw this, I was 100% sure it was going to make Dumb Decisions 🤣
McCarthy needs to be fired. He's a joke.
In McCarthy's slight defense if the Packers intercepted the 2 point try they could get a pick 2 and make it 36-16
Nah let Mike McCarthy stay. 😅
Please don’t fire McCarthy! His dumb decisions make the rest of the NFC look that much more competent!

you are absolutely wrong because you're assuming the Packers don't score for the rest of the game.
Cowboys loss and dumb decisions about it I love this weekend
Especially considering that the game was nowhere near as close as the 2-possession margin indicated. What about them Cowboys? 😁
How were they going to convert the 2 from the 30, or so??? They should not have committed the penalties
The game wasn't over. The 4th didn't even start yet. Anything still could've happened. IMO, the correct call would've been to kick the XP. It's a tall ask to get a 10+ yard 2 point conversion.
Nope he did it right. 17 is ok, 18 is not.
it happened AGAIN cowbros
Impractical Jokers punchline 😂
I think all my fellow Cheeseheads thank the Cowboys for taking McCarthy off our hands. Go Pack Go!
He remembered what happened against Detroit and didn't want to have the same ending
Lol, I think mike is smarter than you, because he was thinking, gee wizz, the packers score on our drives!
I think the entire football game should've been a Dumb Decisions episode for Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn
you really think that this one dumb decision was going to turn the game around? the cowboys were out played in every part of this game. Dak throwing ints and "DEM BOYS" lack of defense were the game changers.
Surprised at this video. Not that dumb to forego a two point try from the 12 with that much time left. I can see his logic on this one
I closed it because im not watching a 15 min video on an extra point
This unofficial Official Jaguar Gator 9 historian will remind everyone you made a video about another Cowboys coach, Dave Campo, making his own Dumb Decision (TM) in going for one on Thanksgiving Day 2001.
The idea was to turn the three scores from 3 TD to 2 TD and an FG. Missing the extra point made it 3 TD again
They didn't lose the game because of this. It was the 3 added TD GB made.
I finally saw the movie "dumb and dumber" yesterday afternoon on NBC.
The odds of making three 2 point conversions is so slim even before one of them is from 12 yards away. When you are in that position I think you have to understand that you are just going to need four scores to come back from 24 down. The most two point conversions made in the league all season long was Cleveland with six-- you are not going to make three in one game. This kick flat out was not the problem yesterday.
what a dogshit mindset, “let’s just settle for a 3 possession game because 2 is a lil more unlikely” I couldn’t disagree with someone more.
A little?? Try like more than 80 percent more unlikely. And something that has occurred in about 0.09% of games. When your strategy is literally something that happens once in 500 games, you better have a plan B.@@JakeSmith-li7vd
Mike freaking McCarthy! What were you thinking?
He was thinking about next season. 😅
Dak is not the problem
That pick 6 basically sealed the game😂
He wants to be fired!
Theres alaays some teams / rivalries that just always seems to have their number. For Dallas, no matter the year, its Green Bay, and SF 😭
