A friend of mine and his wife built a house from the ground up. The house had been under construction for some time and they took great care in building it and making it a home. One day my friend’s mother went to visit him at his new house. She was a serious woman with high standards and a penchant for being never satisfied. At some point during her visit she looks to her adult son and said to him: “You live well.” It was the HIGHEST compliment she could give. My friend was proud and almost in tears. She approved not of the material things but of HOW THEY chose to live their lives. That comment stuck with me. Kevin lives well.
Hi Kevin, I watched this again to share with my Mom. My Mom has lewy body dementia so watching interesting and entertaining videos really provides a lot of engagement for her. She says "You are a genius!... that " you have a dog and that makes everything better" ..."the cats are great" She really leaned in to listen to your techniques on planting the bulbs. We plan on making your squash, apple, onion sausage bake this week. She is curious where delicata squash comes from or where to get it easily.
She was happy to know clafouti would be good for Christmas too. We are going to make it for Thanksgiving. She lives in a town in Massachusetts where the cranberry trucks go rolling by from nearby cranberry bogs. She asked if it's hard to make the clafouti and I asked her if custard is hard to make and she said no. So it's a go!
Anyway, I first learned of your show during the early days of the pandemic. Which really got us all through those days! Now I can share your channel with my Mom. I am on an extended visit with her. She also says your husband is lucky to have you and he must be tired when he comes home. My Mom loves my partner too and calls us all family. Love to you and your husband and fur buddies! Thankyou for the joy you share. My Mom loves your house, gardens and area in New York. ❤

Kevin, I made your sausage/squash/apple dish, a huge platter full for just three of us. Toward the end of dinner I was pondering roasting up baby potatoes the next day to stretch the leftovers. As we chatted and finished up our last drops of wine my companions left off loading up their plates and started sneaking last forkfuls straight from the platter. Next thing I knew there was barely enough left to toss into an omelette! What a hit! We’ll repeat this one many times up here in Massachusetts. I served mine with a creamy coleslaw with red onions, cranberries and a blue cheese dressing. I also used spicy Italian sausage instead and that worked great (the cool coleslaw helped!). Thanks for your marvelous recipe. So glad I found you. God bless.

Avery is so precious!!! It is very easy to see that she adores you and that you adore her!!! This is a very interesting menu-I serve Italian sausages quite often-these sausages are always delicious prepared in a multitude of ways. They are especially good with sweet potatoes and cabbage or Brussels sprouts.
The way you prepare every dish is so appealing and appetizing .... and then when you taste it.... hmm. hmm
When I find myself in need of a comfortable place to rest for a while, I can always find it in your videos. Everything you do seems so calm and peaceful, and never rushed. That is the way I love to cook, and do chores in my home, whenever possible. It is wonderful to be able to share time with a “friend” who enjoys these things, too!❤

There is nothing like a happy and cozy visit to Kevin's house! My kids love watching these with me and they call him "Grampy's friend" since my late father shared many similarities (including first name!) with Kevin and it's always a delight for us all, especially they love deciding what yummy food they want to try and I am always inspired by the projects and gardening, there's something for everyone it seems and I've already tried so many great ideas out - if I see it on this channel, I know it's a winner!

I love those tray bakers you make. It got so many ideas from watching your vlogs, all tasty I may say. I also like the fact that your recipes call for everyday item the average household has on hand. I wouldn't try a recipe that calls for exotic ingredients. At home we're just plain folk. LOL

Growing up, my parents never bought or served any kind of squash. So I've never found a way to choose, cook or enjoy them.
Maybe I could switch the squash out to replace it with something else. If so, I would look forward to trying this dish.
But the Clafoutis! Now THAT'S a dessert I've never heard of. And by your description, I just know I'm going make AND enjoy it! I have every ingredient so it's going to be made tomorrow!
It sounds like a texture I will get addicted to!

We watched your video today while wondering what to have for dinner, which, of late, is rather hard in that we stopped red meat and other foods in that my wife has cancer and is in cure. So, we went to Gus's Market in San Francisco, where we live, got all of the ingredients, though we used chicken sausage, and made it. It was a lovely dinner--thank you

Love your videos Kevin.❤ It's also a good idea to have a separate refrigerator without fruits or vegetables to force bulbs.They give off gasses that may severely stunt or destroy the already formed flower inside of the bulbs.

Kevin, I never had Delicata squash before and my interest was piqued after seeing this video, so I made the tray bake today for Sunday afternoon dinner. Made it exactly as written except I used sweet Italian chicken sausage instead of pork. Was absolutely delicious! The mustard sauce is an amazing blend of flavor and the apple/onion/squash/sage is a totally delicious fall harvest blend that is the perfect accompaniment to the sausage. The cranberry clafoutis is a different story. I followed the directions exactly but the end result was a rubbery mess. Don’t know where I went wrong but won’t try that again. By the way, I thoroughly enjoy seeing snippets of the cats in your video.

Kevin-bought the squash and couldn’t cut it to save me, made tray bake with apples, didn’t have sausage so used chicken-I over cooked it but ate it anyway. Didn’t have cranberries so used raspberries-very good . Will try it all your way when my husband chops that devil squash.

I've never been fond of squash... mostly because I've never known anyone who cooked them any other way but "mashed".. and they weren't very good. However, this looks delicious and I do love a good sweet Italian sausage.
I don't know if our local supermarkets have delicata squash, but I will see if I can hunt one down and cook it this way. I do have to avoid onion... and onion-like vegetables... but I think I can manage to find something that will add to the experience. Thank you again.
