Fun fact: It is said that in Season 6, the doctor is a charitable man and runs orphanages around the country. It is implied through this episode that these orphanages were used to filter through potential vessels for AFO, Dabi/Toya being one of them. Another interesting note: This same orphanage was shown in the manga back during the events of Season 4. It appears in Overhaul's backstory, as he was also an orphan eventually taken in by the Boss, if you recall. This implies that prior to being taken in by the boss, Chisaki had the possibility to have encountered the Doctor/AFO. Unfortunately this backstory scene was cut from the anime.
Having read some manga spoilers I think they will reintroduce them later like they did with the Creature Rejection Clan scene that should be in season 5 but was cut and they repurposed in season 6.
It's interesting to see that the show hammers that Dabi wasn't created by a singular event, but rather circumstances that he lived in for years and several events that shaped him. There were several points that *some* action could have been taken that turned Touya around and saved him, like Endeavor actually paying attention to him after learning his quirk isn't compatible with his body instead of ignoring him, or him changing after Touya's presumed death, but that didn't happen. Seeing Endeavor continue his abuse of the other kids even after his own death was the final nail in Touya's coffin and what finally gave birth to Dabi.
@@ThelordHayden34 The red flag traits were also a product of his environment. Growing up with a father like Endeavor, a relationship like their parents, you get a child like Touya, most likely.
I just realized that the title isn’t “burning brothers” anymore. 😅 Also, I can’t acknowledge enough how horrible I felt for Touya during those flashbacks. Just imagining being in that scenario is genuinely terrifying. Not to mention how betrayed he must’ve felt. I also honestly feel really bad for Shoto too. He really has no reason to want to carry all of the family’s burdens on his back, but I’m still proud of him for pulling through. Both of them have that determination inside of them. While Touya would hate to acknowledge it, they’re both very alike in that respect.
I love how 22:01 is like a reverse of the fire scene from Todoroki and Midoriya’s battle during the sports festival arc but instead of Todoroki using his flames amongst his ice, it’s using his ice flames amongst Dabi’s flames
9:24 but in Toyas mind he already wasn’t good enough for Endeavour, going back now when he’s physically broken would only make him feel like even more of a disappointment
I SUPER love the detail of Garaki saying, "He had everything" when referring to Toya, calling back to the season two episode, and the true start of the Todoroki Family plotline, "The Boy Born With Everything."
The wife perfectly explained why Toya was so angry when he came back. What he saw with Shoto proved that his life and his death didn't matter. The cycle repeats.
Was that really it? If he was hurt because the circle was repeating he wouldn't be trying to kill Shoto and Natsuo. He is just fixed on hurting Endeavor and making him proud at the same time.
@@Kleed44 I'm just tired of people turning Dabi into a saint and putting it all on Endeavor. Enji did a lot of bad things but as Shoto himself said: all of them were hurt by Endeavor and Dabi was the only one who decided to burn people aka use his trauma as an excuse to commit horrible crimes.
@@jakubgodyn7413 I hear you and yeah Dabi is no saint. I just have a soft spot for his trauma bc I went through similar circumstances somewhat, but obviously burning people like him is never right. I'd be lying though if I said I didn't think the fault of the Todoroki family suffering overall was mostly on Enji especially in the manga as he forces his wife to have more kids with him without consent and her asking to stop directly to him
@@Kleed44 It is obvious that Enji is at fault here and I can blame him for every child's situation BUT NOT Toya. He was a prick even before the burning accident. He was a sexist brat.
I actually have to disagree here, i think things would’ve been different if they saw Dabi when he went home. Even if he wanted to run away, the mere knowledge of him being alive would mean there’s no way endeavor would just let him run away. I think he would’ve ended up in a similar state to how we saw Toki in the beginning of the show where he had all this pent up resentment towards his father but wasn’t completely insane
what dabi had is a extreme form of oldest sibling syndrome + unqualified parents (mentally fragile mother & career obsessed father) u will notice 5+ year olds will try to hurt their baby siblings because they get far more care & attention from the parents [because babies have no ability to takecare of any their needs] & the oldest feel its unfair thats what dabi felt about shoto because he took his place in the training room & even before that he tried to attack him as a baby & this episode showed how he didnt mature much because of the coma
Its giving me Zuko vs Azula vibes...imagine if they use the Agni Kai ost on this fight and with dope transition from the flashback from home to their current life..
For that third question, you have to remember, the reason why Enji doubled down on Shoto so hard AFTER Toya's death was to give it meaning, his own guilt over it caused him to have to go all in. So had Enji known Toya had survived, I absolutely think his character would have changed. It is a fun thought experiment of just how much could have differed in such a scenario.
Just a heads up. The author clarified Toya burning down the orphanage, he didn't. It was the doctor was the one burned it down, to cover their tracks, in case Toya came back with the authorities.
I love the callback to the "it's your power not his" because this feels like the proper payoff for it, instead of being Endeavor 2.0 with just a bonus power that he can use to supplement and regulate his flames with, he comes up with something that is truly and uniquely his own thing
This part 7:48 just shows that even after what happened to him as long as he still breathes and moves and has his frustration there is no one that can train him what to do or stop him. That’s just shows how there are other great evil other than all for one and Tomura shigaraki that won’t listen to reason and do whatever it takes to get what they want and Toya/dabi is one of them.
Technically speaking Endeavor can have flames as powerful as Dabi but the difference as explained by Dabi is that he no longer feels pain so self inflicted pain from his fire isn't an issue whereas Endeavor can only go so far with his fire before hes in excruciating pain from them even with his natural resistance
when it cuts in the fight scene to them as kids it makes me hysterically sob and ruins my week . YALL DID NOT HAVE TO DRAW THAT!!!! THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY!!!! AUGGHHHH
It's crazy how All For One had his fingers in so many pies at once like I know he didn't fully plan all of this out it just kind of worked out that way but his work still brought about Dabi like sure he and Garaki thought that Toya Todoroki would die on his own out there. But nope big bro survived much like Shigaraki did Dabi straight up pulled a Darth Maul he's surviving off of pure hatred and a desire to spite Endeavor. It's also nuts that Dabi's flames are so hot and intense that even All For One doesn't want them and that Toya originally wanted to return home to apologize only to realize nothing changed it was then that Toya Todoroki died and Dabi was born. In this fight Dabi is releasing all of his deranged hatred and resentment towards his little brother on the flip side Shoto plays this smart he gets his brother talking to buy himself enough time to activate Flashfire Fist Phosphor which is a brilliant technique and is a beautiful way of tying his story together and showing off his character development by not using his power the way Endeavor intended but instead Shoto found a way to perfectly harmonize his Ice and Fire because it's his Quirk and how he uses it is up to him. Then of course we get Shoto reflecting on his past every bad thing that happened all his hatred resentment everything and finally admitting how similar he is to Dabi they could've both fallen onto the same dark villainous path but unlike him Shoto had his classmates who reached their hands out and helped him becoming his friends they never left him behind and it all started with Izuku Midoriya. This very much reminds of Zuko vs Azula it's not something that should be triumphant and heroic it's a tragedy that two siblings are locked in a fight to the death.
Looks like we have the Second Last Agni Kai, huh? 🔥🔥 I seriously can't believe all the Zuko parallels with this show weren't intended by Horikoshi. Like, there are WAY too many coincidences. 😂
Fun fact, todoroki’s scar isn’t from the boiling water, he easily could have shrugged it off with his heat resistance. the mark is actually from Rei using her ice quirk to cool him off in a panic. The quick shift from boiling hot to freezing temperatures scarred his face.
Shoto doesn't have heat or ice resistance as far as I'm aware (happy to be proven wrong tho) which is why balance between his 2 sides is incredibly important
@ReapersArrow That's why he's using Flash Fire Fist Phosphor, it regulates his body to prevent it but eventually Dabi's flames get so hot that even with Phosphor he starts burning
@ 1. Google if he has it 2. Google if that’s why he got the scar 3. He was standing against Dabi even before Phospher when we first learned he was Toya. Dabi literally hugged him and set his whole body on fire
@ReapersArrow It's never stated that he has natural resistance, it's never been stated that Rei caused the scar with her ice in a panic and when he stood against Toya without Phosphor he received bad burns particularly around his throat making his voice very raspy while it was healing. To add to my points during the training camp arc he's shown in a tub of water trying to maintain high/low temperatures for as long as possible which makes sense if he has no natural resistance to extreme temperatures
Fun fact in the manga back in the shie hasakai arc they showed overhaul in a daycare like center that looked like the place dabi was brought to koei horikoshi even confirmed overhang was another vessel for afo like dabi
Well after a gigantic list of nightmares AFO has caused everyone in the cast, we have arrived at the long awaited “grudge match” between Touya and Shoto. And MAN was it worth the wait. (Which I cover separately) Touya is monologuing not as a conniving villain but as his last will. After escaping the orphanage and finding what Endeavor admitted was his only way to cope with Touya’s death was to move forward and make Shoto the perfect hero instead of being at the same time as the lesson Touya so DESPERATELY needed to learn, (which was the original plan for Shoto for Endeavor. Show Touya what moderation was in the bluntest way possible so that way he’d stop burning himself. Which COULD have worked if Endeavor hadn’t barreled everything down a hill emotionally LONG beforehand and was still doing that.) it just proved that there truly was nothing that would’ve stopped this train. It never stopped til All-Might retired. Touya now knew the replacement was complete and now even if he showed himself to his family…it wouldn’t change what was happening. He took the time to pray to his own grave, and left to begin his training not to make his father proud but to bring him to ruin. And today he’s reached the end of that road. He’s here to close the Todoroki family’s story for good. All of them. And burn out himself. With Shoto being his only obstacle with Endeavor forced to face AFO. And Dabi just gets ready to show what he’s truly made out of as he gets rid of his last shell of restraint. Literally held together by threads. And now Deku’s record of most skin lost in a single move is broken. (Unlike Kirishima against Rappa for the broken bone record, I don’t think Deku ever reclaims that title. But he still holds the broken bone record) Dabi and Shoto are cracked mirrors of each other. Dabi has mastered every last bit of Endeavor’s techniques down to the last move. He’s completely surpassed Endeavor in power and is just the epitome of the song “Anything you can do, I can do better.” Rule of thumb is that because Dabi doesn’t care about keeping anyone safe he feels free to blast everything with no fear of spread at temperatures that Endeavor never could. Blue star heat is no joke. You might be able to measure his heat based on what he melts but I ran into a roadblock FAST because there’s melting points, then there’s evaporation points. A lot of what he hits just CEASES to exist. At melting rates that are just insanity. If he’s as hot as the surface of the hottest blue stars we are clocking around 50,000°K. Dabi is moving at Mach speeds as we see giant shockwaves on his hits. He has the power to punch Shoto hard enough to blast him upwards 10 stories high. At these heats, the human body would char and crumble right off but he just KEEPS ON GOING. The Flamin Sidekickers all have means to redirect or handle this kind of Fire power but because it’s above Endeavor it’s too much for them. This is a family only event for the power tier even with their assistance. I do have to get this out there. I know many talk that Endeavor should have joined Shoto for this Dabi confrontation. And I always wonder why people keep forgetting that the entire reason Endeavor DOESN’T is because Shoto tells him to face AFO and facing Dabi was his own choice. (If you like FMA, a big thing is choosing your own path even if it is dangerous for yourself. The main cast make gambits of this style frequently. Shoto’s choice wasn’t unanimous. But everything else was veto’d) Dabi is Endeavor’s mistakes culminating into a villain. But Shoto has fulfilled the original plan entirely on his own terms. The plan to keep Touya from burning himself. The one who never got to be there for his brother is there now. And even as he’s launched and thrown around, he thinks of his competition not being his father and All-Might, but his classmates which he viewed as further than him because they all got to experience their lives and find themselves while he never got to until UA. He’s learned from the trio of rivals. Shoto has learned Izuku’s compassion, Izuku’s protection, Izuku’s will, and Bakugo’s invention, Bakugo’s stubbornness, and Bakugo’s drive for victory. He’s been around them both for so long and seen their competition the closest. And we’ve arrived at how he’s invented not who his father wants him to be, but who HE wants to be. Shoto has escaped the confines of his trauma and has reached a state of balance. His fire and ice are now completely even and he has more or less entered the creative mode of his quirk. Not two separate quirks that must be kept apart, if not suppressed, but used as one. Shoto can now officially use fire and ice from both sides of his body. In the manga, he was using two hands of frost to go with this new move. Like his frost transformed into fire the whole way. Flashfire Phosphor is like 6 moves in 1. Flashfire fist, flashfrost fist coming together and condensing. The air is still combusting but the temperature has dropped to regulate his temperature. No frostbite, no burning, just a LOT of stamina and he’s got QUITE A LOT being one that so often lasts longest in fights. He can now completely choose whatever temperature to be at while in this state and can always be at max output throughout. This solves every problem Shoto has ever found with his quirk, and has found a way to snuff out Dabi’s fire simultaneously. Combusted air won’t reignite. And since Dabi’s design is as a blue star yeah he’s burning hotter, burning more, and burning brighter, he’s much less likely to be able to keep it up. And burning cold right next to him keeps him from being able to heat up faster again. There can’t be a war of attrition between the two. So Dabi has no choice but to go for broke and max out before Shoto cools him off too much in short opening of Phosphor stopping. So the Flamin Sidekickers step in one last time. They know their boss well and know what he’s done but have stood by his work. All 3 have likely made the sacrifice that likely would’ve been healthiest for Endeavor. They didn’t choose to have both family and work. They chose their work as the greater good they always wanted to seek. They see how much of a difference Endeavor has made with his hero work even if it ruined a balance he could never hope to maintain. And they wanted to stand by him no matter what trouble came his way because they were CONSTANTLY saving lives. And they all protect Shoto, as he moves past his father’s work. And what he’s built. Shoto has surpassed it all. And thanks them for all the help, even if it was never a question whether they would or not. They are heroes. And they know he’s got them beat for what he’s going to dive into. He acts when no one else could, to bring everyone together. Leaving no one behind. Just like the family that always sticks together in the class, he’s going to make everyone in his broken home to stick together. And snuffing out ALL of the flames by freezing the city. Shoto has at long last stopped the flames of the destroyed past. At a temperature that still 1000% DOES NOT EXIST. And Touya is ripped out of Dabi. Becoming not a horrifying fire monster…but a passed out child that needed to stop and cool off. Shoto has cleared the obstacle. Dabi is out.
- I think when people make the claim that Endeavor should've been here, they do so from a purely story-based perspective and ignore the giant nutsack-shaped plot point in the room: All For One. Endeavor was 100% needed to deal with him. Like it or not, say it interrupts his arc or not, but AFO deserved his attention more than Dabi did right now, and Endeavor was MUCH more suited to deal with the Demon Lord than with Toya. "Fight fire with fire" doesn't work LITERALLY, people; there wasn't anything Endeavor could've done except MAYBE talk Toya down, and we all know that was gonna happen. - I really do like the Flaming Sidekickers, and how they're able to set their thoughts on Endeavor's character aside and look at his objectively-positive attributes when the time is appropriate. Something a LOT of people should strive to emulate . . . - To this day, I STILL don't fully understand what Shoto's new move does or how it works, but I have no doubt you'll explain things.
@@HaydrogenBomb now that Shoto’s fire and ice are at equal power, it means he’s equally capable of withstanding high and low temperatures. Phosphor is the exact middle ground he uses both sides for completely regulating his body. And now he can blast his maximums freely anyway he wants. No more ice then fire then ice then fire, no more recoil. And as you can see, Phosphor has fire on both sides of his body. And where he holds his hands together at his chest is normally two hands of frost from the manga to help him maintain this balance. It’s like 6 different tasks to maintain it. Hence it not being long lasting
@@Kaempfdog basically his full cowling. So he's fully immune to all temperature based attacks in that form. I like how phosphor is in reference to his hair since there is red and white phosphor AFO has a pattern of raising vessels from kids who admire a hero. In Vigilantes, Number 6 was someone who looked up to a speedster, so they made him one. Then there's dabi and shigaraki looking up to Endeavor and All Might respectively. Hopefully u start reading or watching vigilantes to see for yourself .
@@tobofu5978 I am now reading Vigilantes. I’m not very deep in yet. But I’m trying to get caught up by the time the anime comes out. (Still likely going to need your assistance since you’re so much more familiar.) Also makes you appreciate how freaking strong full cowling is with so many people taking 7 seasons to find theirs while Deku gets it in season 2. OFA truly built different.
The animation was good considering there are no big name animators in this one. Funny considering the episode every big name animator popped in was also a Todoroki episode.
Season 5 and 6 was shoto learning to use fire and then he put fire first cause endeavor always said and showed how strong left side is. But here he learnt well atleast against dabi what his stronger move set is especially against dabi. Just inverting what endeavor wanted him to do. Instead of cooling down to balance he heats up to balance just like in season 2 where monster shoto was seen. Making half hot half cold his own. An added benefit his Ice fire hits just as strong as the hellflame blueflame moves
Catching with the Todoroki’s part….25 I don’t know. It’s another fantastic episode. Theres so many peak episodes this season I lose track sometimes. (2 parter between AFO’s role with the Todoroki’s and the Todoroki’s themselves) Garaki is starting to monologue and simp again. Honestly whenever he starts talking, listen. Guy was ignored for decades in what “likely” started as legitimate studies and research and wants nothing more than his research to be taken seriously. Yeah he turned to reanimating corpses and made AFS, but the quirk doomsday theory itself doesn’t appear to be twisted but is often used and twisted even by himself. (Cough bible analogy) We finally understand what happened at Sekoto Peak. Touya like Shigaraki had been followed and had been tracked in how he was falling apart to become not just ANY AFO piece…but an AFO candidate. Stolen from the place Endeavor needed to be at to stop this nightmare. In Endeavor’s weakness in how he tried and failed at every juncture to save Touya (I still genuinely believe everything in S6E17 was failed effort after failed effort to get Touya off the path of Sekoto Peak but he became a monster in how he executed each step) he left the opening for the demon lord in the darkness created by his own toxicity. And AFO himself walked right through the flames of a fire that would never go out. All to insure this boy had the same outcome as Tenko Shimura. Lost to his family. 3 years later it gets SUBSTANTIALLY worse as Touya wakes up in one of Garaki’s orphanages. And let’s not gloss over what it really is. It’s a resource farm. We know what Garaki makes and researches NOW. These kids are oblivious of the world they can get thrown into. Touya is thinking in his young voice but talking in an older voice. He doesn’t understand how to use his voice anymore. The children are oblivious of where they are too. But with AFO speaking behind the sound only screen and talking of restoring his quirk, improving his body, and asking if he wants to make a deal with the devil, it’s too much for Touya who is getting waves of breaking memories he was trying to suppress. And he STILL chooses his father in spite of EVERYTHING. And at the pinnacle of his stress runs off. The orphanage in spite of its appearance was set ablaze by Mr Sunny. Yet another common practice in organized crime. Set your own building on fire to collect insurance. And the kids were moved to another location. Never to be seen again…and I fear the one who spoke to Touya might’ve eventually become the High End Nomu called “Woman.” No matter if they lived or died in the blaze, both outcomes were fated to be the two most horrifying results of how they would carry out their lives. AFO’s empire has irreparably damaged countless lives in his pursuit of “reincarnation.” Side note: If they kept a removed panel, that silhouette of a man in a hat would not be the 1st place you see him. Season 5 would be the debut of that hat. And it’s left a permanent image as we wondered who it was and then it was answered here. And the decorations of the orphanage are identical to ANOTHER removed panel in season 4. I can’t speak much of the removed panels. I wish we saw them in anime, but both reached their conclusions here. AFO is a master manipulator and wants to scatter people and break them apart and is constantly lying. Not even his most “trusted” pieces are exempt. Which is why when Garaki talks about his creations, you’ll often find more truth in it than what AFO says. And Garaki is revealing the final piece on AFO’s board yet to be seen. AFO’s Knight. King/Queen- AFS Bishop- Garaki Rook- Gigantomachia Knight- Dabi Pawns-Nomu Player- AFO Dabi doesn’t fit the pieces that move in kinds, but one constantly jumping in and out of place. Hitting specific angles sometimes the others on his own side don’t know if he’s covering them or covering himself. And Garaki spent the time and effort to give him all the resources to make his flames go further. This is why Dabi always got special treatment among the villains. He’s constantly given Nomu to command. The green chainsaw Nomu at the summer camp, Hood the High end, and now his new one helping him here at Kamino. The Vanguard Action squad was under HIS command. The flames of his funeral and bringing the entire Todoroki family down with him were ALL stoked by AFO and Garaki. Knowing his time was never going to be a long term board piece but he always made his way back. The knight is only covering specific spots, not full lines. And it can jump around and over pieces. Well Dabi sure as heck likes to jump in and out of the picture and although it’s much harder for a trap with a knight, it’s ordinarily a long game when a huge knight centered move occurs. Well, well. Doesn’t that just describe how Dabi revealed himself as Touya in season 6 verbatim. And now he’s making his next workaround for this battle.
I really like it when Garaki says, "He had everything" when referring to Toya, calling back to the episode in the season, and the true start of the Todoroki Family plotline, "The Boy Born With Everything."
Dunno if this was brought up before, but this fight reminded me of a plothole that is, interestingly enough, exclusive to the anime. Back in the second season, during the Stain arc, we saw Endeavor kill a Noumu by roasting its head with *BLUE* flames (which, again, never happened in the manga). But the thing is.... that shouldn't have been possible for him. Remember, since then we learned that Touya was the only one in the family who had the talent to produce those kinds of flames since he naturally had stronger firepower than his dear ol' dad. I just find it interesting that we have this error now, which hasn't really been addressed so far....
It could also be a component of the nomu, certain chemicals can change the composition and colour of a flame or even its intensity so, not such a big deal since it never happened again
that happens when the details of some power arent established early enough for the adaptation. Something similar happened with Dragon Ball Super and the SSJ Blue aura. In the manga that state has no aura since it is achieved by controlling the ki and not letting it get out of the body of the fighter. In the anime, it just has the regular power up aura but blue which makes no sense after the details are revealed. You can also consider it an artistic choice that has no real impact in the plot.
Not really a plothole, since he only used it in a very short range, it could be explained with a super condensed powerful flame after a certain time. Dabi can just produce blue flames nilly willy so it's proof it's stronger.
@@johndinner4418you’re totally right ! It was said that Endeavor could produce blue flames, but not for long, just like a super condensed one-shot. Keeping his flames that hot is impossible for him, he doesn’t have the fire power and even if he did, he would overheat and burn himself. Meanwhile Dabi is able to do it thanks to his superior fire power and dulled sensations. Think of it like a battery : you could overcharge a battery with a moderate intensity over its normal capacity but it wouldn’t last long before it overheats and short circuits everything (and damages your battery), on the other hand, if you do the same thing with a battery with a superior intensity, it could withstand the electric power way longer before overheating and suffering damage. Side note : I’m very proud of my metaphor with the batteries, I hated physics class 😂
Okay, so I’m just gonna leave a comment here since H-Bomb seemed really adamant on hearing me out or at least listening to my reasoning sooo, let’s a go! 😅 Oh, spoiler warning for future episodes I guess.
@@HaydrogenBomb I was gonna make an ice pun but I couldn't think of anything 😅 Anyways, without further ado, here are the top whatever reasons this plan isn’t that good (without acknowledging my own thoughts on Endeavor). To TLDR it in advance though, basically the plan severely underestimates the villains and what they can do. First off, since he’s the man of the hour, Touya. Shoto’s plan, and the heroes’ by extension, honestly wasn’t very well thought-out overall. Long story short, they’re well aware of who Touya is and what he can do. They also seem to acknowledge that Touya’s willpower is basically what he runs off of. And for some reason they barely account for that factor. Like, Shoto beats him, yes, but as we later see, he gets back up not long after, which catches Shoto off guard, and from what we can tell, there’s no plan B, which leads me to assume that the heroes just… didn’t account for the fact that Touya wouldn’t go down after one fight? From what I can gather, the only real idea here was for Shoto to just… continue fighting Touya until he couldn’t get back up anymore, which I hesitate to call an actual plan, since at that point the only real advantage they have is Shoto’s ice, assuming that Touya had no tricks of his own, which he did, as he not only got back up almost immediately, but he also copied Shoto’s new move near perfectly. Now, I’m willing to concede that they couldn’t have anticipated the last part, but the fact that nobody seemed to anticipate Touya’s willpower when they had so few advantages against him, just makes me question their judgment here. Like, they could have actually let Endeavor confront him, since that would give Touya an incentive to just stay in this one place. Actually have Endeavor and Shoto come up with an actual plan and don’t just have them say the wrong things to Touya. Or if you’re adamant that Endeavor HAD to be away to face All for One (which I’ll get into), then why not teleport Touya to the water area? As it stands, they had no reason to teleport Toga there, and we know that water would slow him down, so like, as it stands they had no reason to rely so heavily on Shoto’s ice. And next up, All for One. First off, I just find it inherently stupid that they only had a small handful of heroes face him. This is somewhat explained away by Hawks, saying that they didn’t want to give All for One a bunch of quirks to steal. But I just find this to be bad reasoning. Like, firstly, that leads me to question why they instead chose some of the people with the strongest quirks to face him, since that inherently brings up the same issue. And also, they end up accepting the help of people who weren’t necessarily on the team anyway, so like, at that point I’d argue that it’s more risky to just have a small group fight him. The only way I can see this working is if the heroes had a good plan to beat All for One, but as it turns out, they hardly had a plan. The overall strategy was to break All for One’s mask, which I already think is shaky logic since we’ve already seen All for One fight pretty well with his mask heavily damaged. So like, was the plan to just destroy his mask and then have him wear himself out and assume he had no backup plan for if the mask is damaged? And even if I was to assume that All for One would be beaten by his mask being destroyed, I can’t even say that the plan to do so works super well. Like, they seemed to just have Endeavor hit him super hard and have Hawks back him up. Now, ignoring the fact that there are literally students who could hypothetically hit harder than Endeavor because they have less limited quirks, the fact that this plan ultimately came down to just… hitting All for One, leads me to believe that they didn’t think much farther ahead than just getting into the same area as All for One (which is kind of a running theme with this plan overall). At least with Touya, they were relying on some semblance of an advantage, but with All for One, they didn’t give themselves anything beyond a couple heavy hitters. And while mostly it worked, when you lay out the logic that they used, I can’t really say that this plan was really anything good. As for the whole “Who else could fight All for One” question here, I honestly don’t wanna go into THAT much detail, since a lot of these ideas could honestly make for their own essays of how they would function as plans. For now though, I’ll spitball a few people whose powers are very underutilized overall. Nirengeki Shoda (His power is literally just applying more and more force to his hits seemingly indefinitely, so this random kid could literally recreate the effects of prominence burn). Momo Yaoyorozu (She can literally make anything she knows how to make. Support items, trigger, nukes, it’s all available info). Manga Fukidashi (Anything he verbalizes can become an attack. With again, seemingly no limits). Suneater (His quirk is built up as one of the most versatile and limitless powers ever, and we barely see it. Like, he can also recreate quirks like Monoma to an extent. So yeah, no idea why he’s just on a support team). Yosetsu Awase (Honestly, there’s a video essay out there that illustrates how good his welding quirk is that is way more eloquent than I am. Just thought I’d throw that in here). Thirteen (She can literally make black holes that can suck up anything. Attacks included). And those are just a few examples of people who, with the right plan, could honestly beat All for One as a team. And that’s not even getting into the various villains that have useful quirks that they have in custody. Like, take the Shie Hassaikai for example. The ability to slow people down, make someone super groggy, take someone’s energy, force someone to tell the truth about anything, etc. Like, if you can’t strike up a deal with these guys (even if they do share a common enemy), they have someone who can copy several quirks at once, and we barely know the extent of how Suneater can copy quirks, so like, I see no reason why it’s not worth a shot. And this is honestly just the tip of the iceberg in terms of ways All for One could be beaten. Next up is Toga, who might have the worst plan of all from the heroes because… there was hardly even a plan. And considering that Toga’s the main one who ended up messing up their plan in the first place, this is just a major oversight on the heroes’ part. Like, I get that Toga isn’t super powerful, but considering that this plan was basically built on having the villains in specific areas, to not account for the villain who’s basically known for slipping away under everyone’s noses, that’s just bad planning. Honestly, the only one they seemed to not underestimate was Shigaraki, which is fair since he’s hypothetically the strongest, but considering how much they panicked when Midoriya wasn’t there… well, then that just leads us to the same problem. That being that they didn’t really have a plan beyond “have Midoriya hit him hard.” And again, Midoriya not being there wouldn’t have even been an issue to account for if they kept track of Toga. So to wrap this up (hopefully), while this plan works on paper as like, a way to begin the process of beating the villains, they don’t really think much farther ahead than “Create various matchups and put them all in different areas” with the only plan just relying on those matchups being good enough. So as a result of this, they underestimate Touya’s willpower, they underestimate Toga’s ability to slip away, they underestimate All for One just… as a whole, and if anything, they overestimate some of Shigaraki since a lot of the people they put up against him didn’t have a lot to do once Midoriya made it back. Not to say that it should’ve been JUST Midoriya, but yeah, that’s kinda the overall point here. The plan here would only really work perfectly, if they had any backups or ways to facilitate it. So yeah, that's a little bit of why I don't really think this plan holds up under scrutiny.

Man that's crazy. I love Overhaul's character
Having read some manga spoilers I think they will reintroduce them later like they did with the Creature Rejection Clan scene that should be in season 5 but was cut and they repurposed in season 6.
That fact isn't fun at all

It's interesting to see that the show hammers that Dabi wasn't created by a singular event, but rather circumstances that he lived in for years and several events that shaped him. There were several points that *some* action could have been taken that turned Touya around and saved him, like Endeavor actually paying attention to him after learning his quirk isn't compatible with his body instead of ignoring him, or him changing after Touya's presumed death, but that didn't happen. Seeing Endeavor continue his abuse of the other kids even after his own death was the final nail in Touya's coffin and what finally gave birth to Dabi.
I agree with you here l fell şad for toya and his mother to have nice day❤
Plus he was given no therapy for his obvious red flag traitsx
Well said!
@@ThelordHayden34 The red flag traits were also a product of his environment. Growing up with a father like Endeavor, a relationship like their parents, you get a child like Touya, most likely.
“Toya impressing Endeavor counter: 0” was absolutely foul but hilarious
Seriously 🤣
I just realized that the title isn’t “burning brothers” anymore. 😅
Also, I can’t acknowledge enough how horrible I felt for Touya during those flashbacks.
Yeah really good way to put it plus I imagine Natsuo knows the situation well so I'll take your word for it lmao jk
Aww, why'd they change the title? I liked the use of alliteration.
I love how 22:01 is like a reverse of the fire scene from Todoroki and Midoriya’s battle during the sports festival arc but instead of Todoroki using his flames amongst his ice, it’s using his ice flames amongst Dabi’s flames
Seeing how far Todoroki has come genuinely makes me cry in the best way possible! :,)
9:24 but in Toyas mind he already wasn’t good enough for Endeavour, going back now when he’s physically broken would only make him feel like even more of a disappointment
I agree with you here l fell şad for toya am with him here have nice day💗❤️
Dabi is literally too angry to die
Actually he doesnt care if he does as long as endeavor suffers, so is kind of the opposite
I SUPER love the detail of Garaki saying, "He had everything" when referring to Toya, calling back to the season two episode, and the true start of the Todoroki Family plotline, "The Boy Born With Everything."

The music choice for this episode is top tier
The wife perfectly explained why Toya was so angry when he came back. What he saw with Shoto proved that his life and his death didn't matter. The cycle repeats.
Was that really it? If he was hurt because the circle was repeating he wouldn't be trying to kill Shoto and Natsuo. He is just fixed on hurting Endeavor and making him proud at the same time.
@@jakubgodyn7413 I mean I think it started off like what OP said and Dabi kept going more insane to the point he's at now due to his circumstances

Great thumbnail AND title, Kenny. Love the alliteration usage. 👌

what dabi had is a extreme form of oldest sibling syndrome + unqualified parents (mentally fragile mother & career obsessed father) u will notice 5+ year olds will try to hurt their baby siblings because they get far more care & attention from the parents [because babies have no ability to takecare of any their needs] & the oldest feel its unfair thats what dabi felt about shoto because he took his place in the training room & even before that he tried to attack him as a baby & this episode showed how he didnt mature much because of the coma
Its giving me Zuko vs Azula vibes...imagine if they use the Agni Kai ost on this fight and with dope transition from the flashback from home to their current life..
Me too l love dabi and shoto Way more iş my top episode ❤
For that third question, you have to remember, the reason why Enji doubled down on Shoto so hard AFTER Toya's death was to give it meaning, his own guilt over it caused him to have to go all in. So had Enji known Toya had survived, I absolutely think his character would have changed. It is a fun thought experiment of just how much could have differed in such a scenario.
This season shows that English VA can still be incredible in the anime
Yes, but with or without pain tolerance, it was stated that toyas flames were objectively hotter
Again the writing is just incredible
when it cuts in the fight scene to them as kids it makes me hysterically sob and ruins my week . YALL DID NOT HAVE TO DRAW THAT!!!! THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY!!!! AUGGHHHH
I think for Toya, he came home and saw that his dad was training his brother and basically he felt they just moved on.
Absolute banger of an episode-any Dabi episode is phenomenal. Love the reaction!❤
I seriously can't believe all the Zuko parallels with this show weren't intended by Horikoshi. Like, there are WAY too many coincidences. 😂
I agree with you here my friend dabi and shoto battle my favorite episode ❤
Fun fact, todoroki’s scar isn’t from the boiling water, he easily could have shrugged it off with his heat resistance. the mark is actually from Rei using her ice quirk to cool him off in a panic. The quick shift from boiling hot to freezing temperatures scarred his face.
Shoto doesn't have heat or ice resistance as far as I'm aware (happy to be proven wrong tho) which is why balance between his 2 sides is incredibly important
@ if he didn’t have any heat resistance he wouldn’t have been able to get anywhere near Dabi.
Such exciting times, thank you for the video!
Man love your videos!!! You forgot here 22:02 Montana genius counter!! He did not survive itxd
Well after a gigantic list of nightmares AFO has caused everyone in the cast, we have arrived at the long awaited “grudge match” between Touya and Shoto. And MAN was it worth the wait. (Which I cover separately)
Touya is monologuing not as a conniving villain but as his last will. But he still holds the broken bone record)
Dabi and Shoto are cracked mirrors of each other.
I like how phosphor is in reference to his hair since there is red and white phosphor
AFO has a pattern of raising vessels from kids who admire a hero. In Vigilantes, Number 6 was someone who looked up to a speedster, so they made him one. Fun Science Fact: When fire burns hot enough to turn purple, it's really goddamn hot.
Is my favorite episode have nice day💗❤️
Catching with the Todoroki’s part….25 I don’t know. It’s another fantastic episode. Theres so many peak episodes this season I lose track sometimes. (2 parter between AFO’s role with the Todoroki’s and the Todoroki’s themselves)
Garaki is starting to monologue and simp again. (Cough bible analogy)
We finally understand what happened at Sekoto Peak.
AFO’s empire has irreparably damaged countless lives in his pursuit of “reincarnation.”
Side note: If they kept a removed panel, that silhouette of a man in a hat would not be the 1st place you see him.
King/Queen- AFS
Bishop- Garaki
Rook- Gigantomachia
Knight- Dabi
Pawns-Nomu
Player- AFO
Dabi doesn’t fit the pieces that move in kinds, but one constantly jumping in and out of place.
I said this in s6 and imma say it again, its bout that time that Montana gonna start crying

3 EPISODES LEFT TO 11😭
Dunno if this was brought up before, but this fight reminded me of a plothole that is, interestingly enough, exclusive to the anime.

@@natsuotodoroki ooh! Can I jump in on this unnecessarily? This looks fun!
