You see why it's annoying to hear Chelsea fans later say they were robbed in some games with barca?? In this early days of our encounters, they got away with many bad tackles.
I saw _"the other guy's"_ first game at 18 yrs old--3 years prior to this gme--and there was no comparison to what I felt in this game in terms of 'wow' factor
I think the subtitles may be a bit off at the beginning. In Spain, when we say "teatro" as in "theatre", when Mourinho mentions it on 0:19, it refers to a player who is faking his injuries or diving all the time, as opposed to "spectacle", which suggests that the player is an entertainer. That's why they show those clips of the Del Horno tackling Messi at the beginning while Mourinho says it's "teatro". It's ironic.
Wow! Watching this all over again reminds me of prime Messi. No comparison between Messi and Yamine Lamal. No disrespect to Lamal but I think for all he is doing now at his age, Messi did a whole lot more at that age.
Messi's first professional game for Barça was at current Yamal's age: 17 years and 4-5 months old. In this video, he was 18 years and 8 months old. Yamal played the semifinal against France before his 17th birthday.
Absolutely nobody who watched Messi from the beginning of his career doubt that he is the Goat. Fenómeno without injuries could have been as good as him.
You are spot on. That's a horror tackle by Del Horno. He should have been banned for many games. Amazingly, this Messi guy didn't even milk it but rather played on.

The best football ever was played in those decades. Starting in the 90s, peaking 2000 and declining towards end of 2010 as more and more money started to rule the game. Before the 90s and the total football , the game was also beatiful but more slower and spaces were huge. Today is about muscles and money. The names on the pitch only that day, Lampard, Terry, Robben, Makelele, Cech, Ronaldinnho, Eto'o, Deco, Puyol, Iniesta.
This match and Juventus made me believe he has the potential to be the best in this generation. This coming from the Royal Club (Real Madrid) fan. In the match Barca won 5-0. It was the time I realized I am seeing the greatest player player of this generation if not all generation. The way he played against the big names and got fouled again and again brutally but still destroyed them. I will always be a Madrid fan, but no one, NO ONE plays like Messi. Almost feels like a different game.
I watched him during 2006 and 2007, but I was thinking that he had to prove himself without the help of Dinho. And boy, did he shatter my doubts once Dinho left.
@@SombreroFlicks fun fact the 2006-07 season was the period where Ronaldinho started to go downhill and Messi started to take over Barcelona. Pep made a good decision when he decided to sell Ronaldinho to Milan and to make Messi the biggest star in Barcelona in the 2008-09 season. You can see where their careers went after that. Some other coach may have kept Ronaldinho in 2008.
It was a kid with rare talent but since Roaldinho was the best at the time, all eyes were on him. After Messi had some iconic performances (Ankara Messi goal, hattrick vs Real Madrid at 19, vs Chelsea in 2006) people started to take notice. It's crazy how Messi has been getting nasty tackles since day 1 and yet he never got major injuries. If Neyma or Dembele would've had half those tackles their careers would've ended in their mid 20s
We forgot, at least those of us who are old enough, how football was more violent and such a physical game compared to nowadays. Any of these strong tackled today would definitely be red in most cases. I kinda miss that aspect of the game and also this makes you respect Messi even more since he was able to play like that during the times when the game was this physical when he was just a teenager. The other player I know that also got subjected to a lot of physicality to stop him was Maradona. All the young kids today have it easy.
I miss that aspect also, there was conflict and drama making such memorable games. But it also ended the careers of several talented footballers so i understand why the sport has become softer.
Couple of fun facts, Messi has never scored against Chelsea. Also, he said that Chelsea was his favorite Prem team and he would play for them if he ever joined the Prem.
Don't forget the fact that Messi was only 17 years old here but was terrorising the whole Chelsea team with experience and world-class players back then.
I remember this match. Del Horno was playing criminal football, he should have been red carded way before he actually get sent off. Messi made a fool of the entire Chelsea team that day.

I see him dribbling, passing, and missing the goal. I know he was a threat, but just don't see why he was any better than any other player out there. I watch highlight of, say, Ronaldinho and I'm amazed at his dribbling, speed, and accuracy as well as his fun tricks. I see others and they seem to dominate. So, seriously NOT trolling, could you tell me why this performance by Messi was notable?

@@NordicSpice_ yes it entirely wrong to say Mourinho asked so, but I'm not with you when you say messi was owned here, I just can't understand you and you are opposite to what the highlights show here, even if you mean by results which I don't remember, keep in mind messi was just 18yrs here and still played like a legend.
south american players can dribble on worst than that pitch , so european thinking of Mourinho 😂🤣,
@@lauragallardo1593 This is 100% TRUE. South American pitches ara for shyt. That pitch, that day, looked like a billiards table to Messi, Deco and Dino..
@@lauragallardo1593 yes agree, on this day all the goals were from crosses though. South American players can adjust to play high as well.
@@lauragallardo1593 For us south americans is nothing we play well more !.
I like the edit where Mourinho is bitching that they were acting and immediately shown those criminal fouls.
And no penalty received for that ridiculous foul of Terry
Terry fouled him and touched the ball with his hand. Still no penalty lol
You see why it's annoying to hear Chelsea fans later say they were robbed in some games with barca?? In this early days of our encounters, they got away with many bad tackles.
@@Charles-zz5btsimple sweet payback by the referee
I saw _"the other guy's"_ first game at 18 yrs old--3 years prior to this gme--and there was no comparison to what I felt in this game in terms of 'wow' factor
Absolutely no comparison 👌🏽
The 18 year old boy Marked his undeniable role for the upcoming years in this beautiful sport
Messi was the best and he still going now he really deserves everything he got and more
Vamos Messi vamos Argentina 🇦🇷
2006? Damn time flies bros. The older you get it faster it goes. Believe me.
Correct. 😢
Absolutely nobody who watched Messi from the beginning of his career doubt that he is the Goat. Fenómeno without injuries could have been as good as him.
See a psychiatrist on my bill😂😂

Maradona was HIM , but Messi on the RW is the goat
This was the fist time i saw Messi live,i remember thinking wow!. I've lost count of the times I've said wow since.
Bro that kick in the leg could have end his career 💀
Messi is probably the footballer that has endured the most career-ending tackles in modern football.
You are spot on. That's a horror tackle by Del Horno. He should have been banned for many games.
Amazingly, this Messi guy didn't even milk it but rather played on.
@@SombreroFlickshe still continues playing after the tackles! No subs! At times he doesn't even fall 😅😂. My goat 🐐
5:50 terry clearly fouled Messi but no penalty 😂
hahahhah
So no ones gonna say it's robbery..bravo chelsea fans
No. Just cause it's Messi, doesn't always mean it's a penalty

Messi is a Great footballer, take it or leave it ✌🏼☺️
Increible como este equipo debe toda su gloria a un solo jugador
2:40 the way he shield himself😂 pure instinct
Messi's greatest quality was to take the hits without complaining. He knew he needed to harden. And was quite humble with that kind of talent
Que grande que es Messi! Sin dudas el mejor jugador de la historia
Love your videos. Also make video about his 2018 WC qualifier performance. His comeback and helped Argentina to qualify for WC was epic and not talked much.
Added to the list 🥰
Last night at the age of 37 , Messi scored a hatrick with 2 assist against Bolivia , do u believe it he was involved in 5 goals , we are lucky to witness greatness ❤
Goodness me !! Can any player ever dictate terms like Messi did 😮😮
The best football ever was played in those decades.
"BuT bUt BUt, MrSsi nEvER dId IT iN the PrEMiEr lAguE"
That Terry play was a double penalty hahaha, kudos for him for pulling it
Legend.
Knew from the moment i seen him in this match that he was destined for greatness
I remember watching this as a kid. The very reason I fell in love with football.
The GOAT at work.
Messi, a really big player
I wish I got to see messi from the beginning. Like how it started and all
It was a kid with rare talent but since Roaldinho was the best at the time, all eyes were on him. After Messi had some iconic performances (Ankara Messi goal, hattrick vs Real Madrid at 19, vs Chelsea in 2006) people started to take notice. When the Guardiola era started in Barca, he simply became the best.
Am a messi fan but i started watching him after he 26 or 27 but now am realise how he become the best young footballer also best current aged footballer ! I almost watched messis all career starting games and one thing I clearly understand messi was the only youngster player conceded most fouls! He was just destroying all the big players he was a scare to others 🙌🏻
90 minutes of trying to injure him😏
Here Messi was still learning and experimenting, yet menacing to Mourinho's team
Robben vs Messi. Nice footage!
Imagine if young CR had to face this much of physical hostility !!! 🤔
Wonder if that happened crazy huh? Ahha
😂😂😂😂 he played against Chelsea weekly you utter clown.
look at the pitch just mood. this is what mourinho is
A team with Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Deco...
But the most dangerous of them all, was a 18y old boy called Messi!
It's crazy how Messi has been getting nasty tackles since day 1 and yet he never got major injuries. If Neyma or Dembele would've had half those tackles their careers would've ended in their mid 20s
"But Messi is Fifa boy and protected, no one is allowed to tackle him."
Will we ever see something like that ? 🐐
Being just 18 and outshining Ronaldinho, Etoo and Deco is crazy.
Me
We forgot, at least those of us who are old enough, how football was more violent and such a physical game compared to nowadays.
He has in 2018 twice
He scored against chelsea twice in 2018
Don't forget the fact that Messi was only 17 years old here but was terrorising the whole Chelsea team with experience and world-class players back then.
Just mind blowing he was just the kid and he dominated the game.
What a man Messi is... 👽 🐐
I remember this match. Del Horno was playing criminal football, he should have been red carded way before he actually get sent off. Messi made a fool of the entire Chelsea team that day.
2:48 Duh. Dude was fouling him left and right. NEVER even smelled the ball 😂
Del Horno was fighting for his dignity but his inner Pepe got the best of him.
One of messi's quality people forget to discuss is his steals 🤯
There was no way mourhino would destroy god gifted left leg.
The leg that took at least 2 UCL finals away from José.
Messi NEVER scored a single goal against Mourinho’s Chelsea
And he said he bullied againts chelsea 😂😂😂
Woawww so many world legend on this footage
Messi = Magician = GOAT
One of the biggest achievements for Petr he hasn’t conceded a goal from Messi almost 10 years ago
My goodness! This is my club Chelsea! Why on earth are they killing a teenager?! How on earth xid Messi have a long illustrious career. Man has been kicked for almost 20 years! 😅😂 I can see how Yamal's career will go if he stays fit. Yamal is this special.
Chelsea made sure the pitch was unplayable first 😂😂
❤ gracias Capitán, le voy a contar a mis nietos que te vi jugar ...❤
20 years at the top. Goat
Mourinho looked at Rijkard as if to say: “How much do you want for this kid? Remember, I asked first, so let’s shake on it”
Funnily enough Mourinho tried to buy Messi, but a few years later.
Bro gave his channel name a skill❤️🔥
And he won a world cup almost 20 years later as the best player in the competition. Magic
Wow, this guy is good, Barcelona should try to keep him for a long time. Keep up the good work young kid.
some kid from Korea way too good , they said he’s the only player that beat out Messi record at acedemy . but then , everyhting is about Messi , so they had to destroyed that kid . poor kid . 😢
If you mean Lee Seung-woo, the board made a mess with his signing, they didn't destroy him because he was better than Messi. You don't invest a ton of money and resources on cultivating talents only to block them out if they become too good.
£101 million pounds. No one new how much of a bargain that was.😂
😂😂😂
the pitch is unacceptable for this kind of champion league match.
The pitch was part of Jose's match plan.
Yep, totally on purpose by Mou
@@raypinswhat a shit plan!
Messi deployed this kind of play due to he was surrounded by great players: Ronaldinho, Deco, Xavi, Iniesta, Van Brockhorst; attached to this was the beginning of total football system at Barça Reikjaard was a student from Cruyff too.

And the rest is history ❤, our own la pulga.

IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING DURING THIS ERA OF SOCIAL MEDIA
GOAT
Booing an 18 year old is wild lol
You don't understand Chelsea supporters
Okay, guys, I'm a 60-year-old American who was not brought up on futbol but I'm trying to understand the game more. I'm watching this and I guess I just don't know what I'm seeing. I know that pretty much everyone considers Messi the greatest player who ever lived and that this is an example of his early spark. But I didn't see anything where I went, "Wow! That's amazing!".
This match was when he is 16-17 years old,,so don't expect much from him..but I think u should start watching football like laliga and premier league's,,u would rarely see a good dribbling matches. And when u have watched enough football matches u will understand how good messi was
@@okami-z1b Thank you.
2:14 this foul 😮
This should have been the red card instead.
Del horno is disgusting for that
disgraceful should have been an instant red!!!. Can’t believe it poor Messi
When people say you cannot compare eras, what they could mean is that Maradona had this treatment in every game for his whole career. Every great player had this treatment. They changed the rules, to make the game more clean and based on attack.
How on earth was that John Terry foul not a penalty 😂😂
How on earth are you blind? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Dude the amount of knocks he receives. Today, such knocks would cause injuries. Dirty players of Mourinho
