    I know taste is subjective, and everyone is different, but comparing the peach cobbler to Pina Colada, which is better? or what traits on each you find best. your review on Pina Colada, you mentioned that it was possibly your new favorite.

      @SulcataGrove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      agriperma That’s tough, but this year, I think Pina Colada was best flavor. Our tree only had three fruit though, and the Peach Cobbler and Coconut Cream were very productive.

    1. Short of driving to Pine Island is there anyplace in the SRQ area selling a wide variety of mangos?
    2. Besides Alex & the Mangomen are there any other good places that SHIP a wide variety of mangos?
    Thanks

      Jessica's Organic Market has had Florida mangos available recently - but some of the more basic mangos (Glenn, Valencia Pride, Carrie, etc). Fruitscapes had Pina Colada mangos yesterday along with many others. We may end up selling a few mangos towards the end of the season - I can't imagine Craig is going to be able to eat them all :)

      japeth harrison After many years trying , my CC finally died. years ago I exported a few trees, I bare rooted them for transport. they survived the bare rooting process, but, but about a year later, they started looking bad, and they just kept getting worse. basically it's the root stock. Florida root stock just does so poorly here. I read in some forums that folks in California have also had problems with trees shipped from Florida.
      after that experience, I buy the trees, plant them in Florida, then bring scions from them to the Island. these do well on local root stock. anyway, I like coconutty mangoes, and have heard of the M-4 . but next tree will be a PPK, for our house in Fla.

      agriperma glad you are having good results I believe California the main rootstock is the Manila, rootstock as that mango grows wild there, and I think Florida uses the turpentine rootstock allot more frequently.

      Yep, I used local variety, thats kind of naturalized here, but a couple years ago, I planted a Manila seed, and have never seen anything grow so fast, it was about 6 ft tall, from seed in one year, so I can see that this might make good root stock here as well.

    I'm suspicious you're got a wrong mango, peach cobbler ripens green skin color, the flesh is deep orange and the flavor is exactly like tangerine according to most people who has taste it doesn't have any coconut notes, I enjoy all your videos, thanks 😀

    Do you ever graft it to a main stalk to make more of the same tree? Trees are different even if they should not be.

    • @SulcataGrove
      @SulcataGrove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garry Cole The only time we graft onto our grafted trees is inarching a second rootstock or to add a different cultivar onto a branch when we want the genetic material, but not a whole tree.

    Aw, please be a gentleman, Craig! From watching other videos, I predicted that he would eat the mango first and not offer it to the ladies, and I was right. :/

    • @SulcataGrove
      @SulcataGrove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A couple of us have allergies to mangos and like to see what Craig thinks before trying a bite - when coconut cream mangos get opened off camera - no one is waiting and often Craig is left only eating the messy seed :)
