    STILL one of the best deep dives out there

    You're right Ambroz :) The tank, as part of the initial wave, would be delayed to turn 2. Sorry about that. It's challenging to manage the camera, remember the proper sequence, and explain what I'm doing all at the same time. I'm sure it won't be my last rules boo-boo while making these videos. Still getting the hang of this.
    Thanks for watching :) Have a great weekend!

    Correction, tank is not delayed 2 turns ahead, but only 1 turn - place in turn 2 space :)

    @Wally1337...
    Apologies for taking so long to reply to your question. Not knowing what your level of commitment is, just in general I'd say this might not be a good choice for your very first wargame. Rules are moderately complex and an average game will run you around 3.5-4 hours. For a good introductory wargame, I'd recommend something in VPG's "States of Siege" system, like Zulus on the Ramparts. Also, Gettysburg150 by Worthington. A two player game that is great solo as well. It will introduce you to some basic war gaming concepts without bogging you down in minutia that you're not accustomed to.
    If you do go with D-Day, I recommend just playing the 1/2 map intro game until you become comfortable. Have fun!

    I somehow missed that you had done video on this game. Great job. Assuming Decision has this for sale at Origins, I plan to pick it up.

      It should be. They just did a reprint. It's got mounted maps now :)

    Great review. By the way, what do you use for a counter clipper?

      Back when I reviewed this, I was still using nail clippers. I've since been using the C-006 Deluxe Corner Rounder from Oregon Laminations.
      Go to the "Gaming Accessories" play list. You'll find my review of it and a demonstration of its use

    I have the same comments on the components in D-Day at Tarawa. Very disappointing - after two plays the map creases are already looking worn!

      Mike Hey Mike :)
      Yeah... DG's component quality leaves much to be desired...and I'm no component nazi either. Surprised someone like Butterfield went with them as opposed to someone like a GMT or MMP. Still...an awesome game.

    How would you think a new war gamer (no war gaming experience) would cope with this game?
