I found your channel last night. watched/listened to a lot of this Bolt Playlist. Went out and got my first bike. 2014 Bolt R Spec with just over 2000 miles. Absolutely stoked. Rode it home and of course it rained. Thanks for the content and awesome insights.🙏🤘
@steveduffy272 the rain is the christening of the bike! Thanks for watching/listening along I've been through a lot with this little bike and I'm not done yet 🤘
@@guacam4ya103 that's awesome, you're gonna love it. They're great bikes but the aftermarket is a little lacking so you do have to get a little creative with it
This was the video ive been waiting for! Keep it coming, you got a sub from this one. Instantly ran to thunder house to lookin at stuff, only complaint is no pics of their parts ON a bike. Really interested in the fender eliminater and plate/ tail light side mount!
I bet if you message him he can work on making that happen. We need the support and suggestions from this community, I appreciate you watching and wanting to make these bikes even MORE awesome 👌
@@WhiskeyChaser It's my first bike and honestly, I love it! Got stink e Viking saddlebags coming in this week, after 2 failed attempts before with "universal fit "mounting brackets. Or the bags not fitting because of the r specs reservoir shocks... I'd all but given up. Fingers crossed these work! Ultimate goal is a bobber style, with spring seat, ive got a vintage steel tractor seat cleaned up and I think it'll fit the look perfect. I may yet leather wrap it and carve something into the leather. Painting the tank in a few weeks. Other than that, a set of bassani radial sweepers I just finished wire wheeling to bare metal and re-spraying with VHT exhaust paint because their coating rusted out after 4 months last year.... never again. But, I'll admit it's satisfying seeing it come together!
I've look around the Net to see if any high-performance cams/pistons are made for the Bolt. Motorcycle Dressup was supposed to offer cams, but no dice. The cams were supposedly regrinds from Webcams in CA, but they didn't come through. There mustn't be any real interest in internal performance parts for the Bolt. It takes a lot of brainpower and money to develop hi-po parts. So much for that. I really wish that Yamaha would reintroduce the Bolt with a six-speed gearbox. A bigger displacement engine would be great too. I don't see any of that happening. I'm STILL wondering why Yamaha discontinued the Raider. My kid brother owns two Raiders, and he loves 'em! Hopefully/prayerfully, Tennessee doesn't get any more insane weather this year. Likewise, for NE Ohio! Ride safe, Chase.
Yeah there aren't many options, but it's a small market bike. The Stryker engine fits, but it's air cooled so you have to mount a radiator. I don't see anything internally for this thing in the future, unfortunately. But it still is a great get around town bobber
Just got my 2014 Yamaha bolt r spect with 1200 miles on the only thing different is the exhaust but I have the stock exhaust but looking into longer handle bars
@kenrivera54 it's definitely possible and pretty easy. I've been through 2 sets of bars on this bike, the shorter ones I didn't have to do much and the ones I currently have I just had to change the cables. Biggest help is learning how to remove the tank, you'll need to get to the cables so don't get hung up on something simple
Other than the 4ft brake cables you have an Amazon link to, what else cable wise do I need to purchase to work with the 12” bars? You mentioned getting V-Star 950 cables instead of the Bolt cables, but I didn’t see a link for those. Thanks!
@@MrSladen93 I got those off Partzilla.com. I thought I posted a link but may have lost it. The V star 950 cables are the same as ours but +6" so after a little rerouting and clever wire running they fit great
Yamaha ought to kick a little something your way for all the love you give this sled!!! Janis Joplin asked Southern Comfort for something for all the free product promo she gave, I think they gave her a fur coat. Just saying... Keep on!
It's a 2014 but the only thing that's changed over the years of this thing being out is the color, other than that they're all basically the same. And yeah man I love it, for the price these things sell at I'd own another one too if I could. It's not a Harley, but it's a great little street cruiser
Funny that you mention the intake from your bike is from a vstar 950, as the cobra air cleaner assembly on my vstar 950 tourer, is from a Yamaha bolt 😂
The throttle cables I mentioned should work, I didn't do a great job on routing mine and they have lots of slack. The clutch you might have trouble with, but with that it would be much easier to get a custom one made. Have you already gotten the bars? 14 is pretty high
@@Jacobowitness you really need to dig into it for ANYTHING on this bike lol. It's tough, but that's part of why I wanted to make this. Hopefully it covers the basics.
@wendellmacgillivary3138 seems like a pretty common thing but there's a number of reasons. After I got my first tire change and they were balanced properly it significantly dropped. And doing the neck bearing job seems to get rid of it completely. At highway speeds or under 20 I don't get anything, but if I'm about 35-40mph I'll get it if I'm not holding the bars...which I always do so it isn't a problem lol
so the slip on + intake tuning is optional, or recommended? i bought a 2015 C spec recently and it says 'Star' on what i believe is the intake, assuming its either factory or homage to the star? which would mean it's aftermarket to what the bike originally came with? i know literally nothing about the bike but i want it a little louder, and explore any low interference mods. Thanks!
If you have both I would definitely recommend getting a tune. But not necessary. It's just gonna run rich. The V star 950 is the same drive train, so your intake might be an old V star one that either #1 Yamaha just upcycled from the factory or #2 someone replaced the old one with.
@@chuckallen7687 the road warrior fits you just have to trim it or replace the headlight. Hit up ThunderHouse Moto on IG he just put one on his and can probably tell you just what to get

Clutch and throttle are so tight with the stock bars they won’t budge. No way I could get them on the risers. Gave up trying after about 2 hours of trying and watching your videos for ideas.
That's all you did? You didn't change the bars? The stock cables have MORE than enough clearance for 1 1/2, maybe they just need to be rerouted a little bit. They are kind of spider webbed around the backbone of the frame
That’s all I did. Stock bars, I just wanted a little higher reach for comfort. I cut all the ties, removed the cables from the clamps, could not get the cables any longer at all.

@@wadesutton3413 are you talking about the mechanical cables like the throttle and clutch or the electrical cables? The electric cables you can just give a tug and you should get some slack, if not you'll have to pick the tank up and move some stuff around
