    There's a saying: "Trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair." I think the same is true about respect. Harden, despite being one of the best players in history, actively disrespected his teammates at the end and tried everything he could to get out, despite them making whatever moves he wanted for years. There's no way that you can act the way he did and deserve to be memorialized in the team's history. If I were the Rockets the only way I would ever retire his jersey is if he apologized to the organization, he knows that he did them wrong.

    • @cratos900
      @cratos900 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snowflake disrespecting does not mean telling the truth. Facts says that Harden was right and the only reason they were contenders was of him, without they are garbage once again though this current team with healthy Woods is better overall than Harden had in his carrier.

Better to ask this after a few years pass and they reflect on how great of a player he is cuz there's no way in hell a player like Harden shouldn't have his jersery retired. That's just asinine lol. Far worse players have had their jersey's retired.

    • @Israel-nb7ip

      If I'm the owner, there is no way I'm retiring his jersey any time soon. He obviously deserves it but I'm not getting over how he quit on the organization unless there's a personal apology or some public contrition from Harden admitting he was dead wrong handling it that way.
      You have to look at the big picture. The Rockets gave Harden absolutely everything he ever wanted in HOU and provided a platform for him to maximize his style of play even though he didn't really play a winning type of basketball. Also, the owner Fertita, who I'm not a fan of as a person or an owner, put Harden onto the restaurant business which is how he made his billions and now Harden has a line of restaurant all over HOU. He asked them to get rid of guys and acquire guys including his boy Westbrook and the owner did it. For him to just quit on the franchise like that AND his boy who he has influence with too is a really bad look for Harden. And on top he embarrassed the franchise and devalued his own worth publicly so they couldn't get the best value for him in a trade. You can't tell me that they didn't have enough talent in HOU with Wall, Woods, Gordon, Tucker, etc. That's a solid enough team to where he could've started the season with them and eventually gotten traded. And on top he does this to a first time black head coach who everyone thinks is gonna be a really good one. Man, that's alot to get over for a franchise.
      I'm not saying that his number can never be retired, I'm saying that if I'm Fertita, I'm not doing it right now or maybe ever depending on when I sell the team. If I sell it anytime in the next decade, I'll let the next owner do it. I'm just not doing it.
      Sorry for the long message.

    I imagine they’ll retire it someday but they should let some time pass before they actually do it if they decide they want to. The way he left was about as shitty as you could imagine leaving so you gotta leave time for fans to get past being upset with the guy. I’m sure a lot of that fan base was disappointed in falling short of a championship during his time there, and he did underperform in many of those playoff runs, but I also imagine that as time goes by fans will transition to remembering the fun times and that for eight years they were a relevant team seen by most as a genuine contender and that was because of Harden. I think that’lbe the case even more if they keep losing like they have been since his exit as they remember the times where the team was fun. We’ve seen teams in various leagues eventually mend fences and do this after some really negative splits after allowing for some time to pass and people to heal. While his exit was super shitty I also think that the eight years of better times will eventually prevail in the end. But if they decide they don’t want to do it with how he left them high and dry I wouldn’t blame them. But I think after some time passes that everybody will move past it and it eventually happens.

      @@ihavenocommonsensebut2008 Harden should get his jersey retired but that don’t mean fans have to kiss his ass. He quit on the team that did what they could to get him help. I think franchises shld retire great players who stay loyal their entire careers even without rings. an example currently in the nba is damian lillard, giannis just as a couple examples (if they continue to stay). perfect example is KD, ditched half way through to ring chase. i wldnt retire him since i see the jersey retirement as a reward for being great+rings or great+loyalty
