Does that mean that my package didn't go anywhere in those 5 days? On the other hand UPS gives up to the minute tracking info and they will notify you of updated tracking info by text, or emails, automatically. The US government has NEVER been able to make money in any service they have ever been in control of. FACT: The USPS loses 21 million dollars every day. What company can afford to lose that much money every day and stay in business? Only the federal government because they just keep taking money from taxpayers to fund the operation. Lucky for you USPS only lost one of your packages. In the past week, USPS has lost THREE of my packages. Not to mention USPS also lost a package last month too, so it's FOUR packages lost in less than a month. That's unacceptable and I'm going insane over it now. I'm going to insure packages from now on, because at least if it's insured, USPS will give you your money back if they screw up and lose your packages.

If your customer, OR dealer is too far in the stone age to use automated cash delivery, be it credit card, pay-pal or bank bill payment., shame on him and you...THIS IS 2013, NOT 1950. Sorry to hear about your troubles. While money order is the true issue at-hand, the lost package (plus contents) might be the easier claim to make w/o waiting 30 days. Search the USPS site for "File an Insurance Claim". There is an online option for submitting the claim... no waiting in line or dealing with a surly clerk. GL! As an aside, my USPS letter carrier is a pleasant and courteous human being. Not all are sour (and demoralized) automatons.

Just so you know, USPS will not always scan your parcels. Therefore your tracking number means nothing. So when my manager calls me into his office and ask were these parcels are, I tell him that I will look into it. There is no record of the parcels in the USPS system and when I go down to the post office they tell me "The parcels will show up eventually." Needless to say my manager is not happy, the customer is upset. I present my manager with a shipping manifest of the twenty nine parcels that went that day at the same time, same postal branch. Less than half are in the system stolen or lost. I lost my job over this. I'm not happy, my wife is not happy, the customer is not happy, the manager is not happy.
I ordered a wicked edge last week or so. They sent it and I live in the same state as WE mind you. Instead of coming down the highway straight to me it took a freKin turn and needless to say my wicked edge is in California. USPS doesn't have a way to say hey you guys need to send that package back it's not supposed to be there. No instead I have to just wait and see what happens. I live in South jersey. Once I had a package arrive in North jersey, Go to Nevada, To Kentucky, To Maine, To Virginia, Back to South jersey. Took 6 days longer than estimated arrival. Fuck USPS.

i really understand your frustration! someone tired to sent me something to germany with USPS. during the transfer in the states, they messed up the label so that my adress wasn´t readable any more. so they shipped it back to the sender, he had to send it again and they didn´t even give him a refund. so he lost time and money because they destroyed the label on the pakage.
The USPS claim process is a joke and like most gov't claim processes it is deliberately designed to discourage you from filing a claim to begin with. This is completely unacceptable and the fact you can't speak to anybody just reaffirms that I will *NEVER* use these clowns for anything other than sending first class letters. A simple apology goes a long way with most folks but you won't even get THAT from them. My father was a postal clerk until he retired in 1969 and things were VERY different in those days. Back then you could actually talk to someone about this and ALL postal workers wore uniforms with their shirt tucked in and were neatly groomed. interesting. here providing a bank account for payment is the most common and safest method. you can put cash in, but you cant take it out just with a number. however, it is also common practice to just make a bank account for receiving payments and shift the cash the moment it arrives. nothing easier or safer. not sure what a routing number is. in nz all account numbers identify bank/branch as part of the code. well, just an fyi anyway. regards
*MY STORY* I have had a P O Box at the USPS for 30 years never had a problem in the 1980's and 1990's I am the only person that goes to that box, I am the only person with the key to that box, but now it is so bad as soon as I see the tracking no. on the internet that states delivered, I go right away, and I am luck if I get my Ebay package. I do not care if they respect me, just wish they do not steal my package. I go to the window with my tracking number and tell them the box number, they say sorry I see nothing for you, I ask can you run the tracking number please, they say it was picked up earlier at window #2. I ask can we review the camera tape to see who has it. I ask them,why did you not ask for I.D. They just say sorry, maybe the person will return it, we must gave it to the wrong person. I have filed reports to the Post Master and the U.S. Postal Inspector, they do nothing. They will not even look at the tapes to see who received it. And this shit goes on and on, I am not the only one, a local cop gets his mail ripped, and he has no pull. all they do is give you a 800 number to call. *( THEY DO NOT CARE )*

Just a thought. I know it has been a year. Did you ever get the item that you were purchasing? You had not only the tracking number of your package, but also the identification number of your postal money order. Did you follow-up on whether the PO money order got cashed, by whom and at what location? If it was never cashed, I would contact the USPS and see about filing a claim for a lost money order and getting a refund. You are entitled if it never got cashed and you have the org. paperwork.

I am a postal worker. I doubt it was stolen. We dont have time to go through packages like that but this new scanning system is crap. I to had problems with packages. Had a package go to las vegas five times. Four times to nj. Four times to long island and the package came from arizona. Another package went to massachusettes. There excuse wrong address. Well eBay is gonna hold my money earned from my auctions for 21 days as a welcome back present (around $900). Just because I have 0 feedback after opening a new account. My buyers have already left feedback and received their items. And they're gonna take their 9% off the top. Then Paypal gets 3%. I feel bad for you I live in Canada and Canada post is pretty good well it depends most of the time there good. They lost a page once I sent to a buddy of mine they contacted me right away threw my email and they called my cell and my house they were on top of there shit. The notified me and said were looking into it. They ended up not finding it but they were completely sorry about it they gave me a whole book of stamps for free they felt bad I said it's okay at least you tried has hard as you could to resolve it and gave me free stamps. That's how they should treat there customers

Prior to working here, I sold on ebay and mailed an item(with tracking) from Phx to NY, for some reason it took 3 weeks, was detained in Colorado for about 10 days for some reason.
Just so you know, USPS will not always scan your parcels. Therefore your tracking number means nothing. So when my manager calls me into his office and ask were these parcels are, I tell him that I will look into it. There is no record of the parcels in the USPS system and when I go down to the post office they tell me "The parcels will show up eventually." Needless to say my manager is not happy, the customer is upset. I present my manager with a shipping manifest of the twenty nine parcels that went that day at the same time, same postal branch. Less than half are in the system stolen or lost. I lost my job over this. I'm not happy, my wife is not happy, the customer is not happy, the manager is not happy.
I ordered a wicked edge last week or so. They sent it and I live in the same state as WE mind you. Instead of coming down the highway straight to me it took a freKin turn and needless to say my wicked edge is in California. USPS doesn't have a way to say hey you guys need to send that package back it's not supposed to be there. No instead I have to just wait and see what happens. My most expensive order ever and usps royally screws it up. I hope it all works out..

Once I had a package arrive in North jersey, Go to Nevada, To Kentucky, To Maine, To Virginia, Back to South jersey. Took 6 days longer than estimated arrival.

Send it Express Mail and insure it: that's the best recommendation.

I feel for ya brotha, I've lost a few packages through USPS, but i still think they are the best shipping service.
Also I only think Delivery Conf. is good for proof of delivery, so the buyer can't claim it never arrived.

yeah..I feel like the USPS must have lost my letter..I was expecting something from international mail and it said it departed the sort facility in my city 4 days ago but I still haven't gotten it..how the hell can they lose something in the city right before it gets to me. I probably could have walked there to get it.

i really understand your frustration! someone tired to sent me something to germany with USPS. during the transfer in the states, they messed up the label so that my adress wasn´t readable any more. so they shipped it back to the sender, he had to send it again and they didn´t even give him a refund. so he lost time and money because they destroyed the label on the pakage.
The USPS claim process is a joke and like most gov't claim processes it is deliberately designed to discourage you from filing a claim to begin with. This is completely unacceptable and the fact you can't speak to anybody just reaffirms that I will *NEVER* use these clowns for anything other than sending first class letters. A simple apology goes a long way with most folks but you won't even get THAT from them.
My father was a postal clerk until he retired in 1969 and things were VERY different in those days. Back then you could actually talk to someone about this and ALL postal workers wore uniforms with their shirt tucked in and were neatly groomed. Today they wear whatever the hell they want and some of them look like bums - just a sign of the times my friend :>\
as rural carrier, yes I look like a bum. we are not supplied uniforms, the ink from magazines etc does not come out of clothes. I only wear throw away clothes or I would be spending way tooooo much money on clothes to be able to pay my bills.
interesting. here providing a bank account for payment is the most common and safest method. you can put cash in, but you cant take it out just with a number.
however, it is also common practice to just make a bank account for receiving payments and shift the cash the moment it arrives. nothing easier or safer.
not sure what a routing number is. in nz all account numbers identify bank/branch as part of the code. well, just an fyi anyway. regards

*MY STORY* I have had a P O Box at the USPS for 30 years never had a problem in the 1980's and 1990's I am the only person that goes to that box, I am the only person with the key to that box, but now it is so bad as soon as I see the tracking no. on the internet that states delivered, I go right away, and I am luck if I get my Ebay package. I do not care if they respect me, just wish they do not steal my package. I go to the window with my tracking number and tell them the box number, they say sorry I see nothing for you, I ask can you run the tracking number please, they say it was picked up earlier at window #2. I ask can we review the camera tape to see who has it. I ask them,why did you not ask for I.D. They just say sorry, maybe the person will return it, we must gave it to the wrong person. I have filed reports to the Post Master and the U.S. Postal Inspector, they do nothing. They will not even look at the tapes to see who received it. And this shit goes on and on, I am not the only one, a local cop gets his mail ripped, and he has no pull. all they do is give you a 800 number to call. *( THEY DO NOT CARE )*

Just a thought. I know it has been a year. Did you ever get the item that you were purchasing? You had not only the tracking number of your package, but also the identification number of your postal money order. Did you follow-up on whether the PO money order got cashed, by whom and at what location? If it was never cashed, I would contact the USPS and see about filing a claim for a lost money order and getting a refund. You are entitled if it never got cashed and you have the org. paperwork.
fed ex and ups can't even deliver their own packages without handing thousands of them over to the usps to deliver for them. and all they deliver is packages.
Dang. It could have been lost anywhere from the sorting facility all the way to your house (especially if not scanned as arrived at unit).

I sent a title to a buddy of mine through USPS for a car I just bought and they just happened to lose it. It was signed by the seller (which wasn't me I had just picked it up for my friend while he was in college) and guess what. The freaking cars still sitting at my work untitled because the DMV won't give me a title for it either and when I called the post office they were rude to me. But I didn't do tracking even. But still bad for me from both yet I understand why but still

Theres alot of this kinda stuff in the world, its a horrible thing, lots of big companies policies are like this, and its a way to make more money, imagine how much this happens, they would loose quite a bit of money if they gave everyone stuff they lost, the reason it takes so long to do things is because by that time human nature is to forget about it, its far in the past and ppl just lose interest.

USPS has hard time handling lost stuff. Can you imagine when they take over your health care? If they handle your health care as bad as USPS handles their losses, you'll be dead very soon.

i just dont understand the concept of a moneyorder. can't you direct debit into peoples accounts over there? in NZ, direct bank to bank electronically is the only way its done. instant, and verified.
Did you put a return address on it? Im sure it will show up in a week or 2. Also did you put that guys name on the MO? Only he can cash it if you did.

I am a postal worker. I doubt it was stolen. We dont have time to go through packages like that but this new scanning system is crap. I to had problems with packages. Had a package go to las vegas five times. Four times to nj. Four times to long island and the package came from arizona. Another package went to massachusettes. There excuse wrong address. Adress was perfect. I actually send and receive from ups. Sad

Next time contact OIG directly and see what happens. Some people say they do not care: I can guarantee you that is not true. Their job is to investigate these occurrences. They may not find your parcel but lots of questions will be asked.

Well eBay is gonna hold my money earned from my auctions for 21 days as a welcome back present (around $900). Just because I have 0 feedback after opening a new account. My buyers have already left feedback and received their items. And they're gonna take their 9% off the top. Then Paypal gets 3%. Now, its been a couple years since I last used ebay or paypal, but its like the fees have tripled for seller fees, and now theres a ridiculous waiting period WTF.
Always use delivery confirmation. Tha would have given you a signature, date nad time of receipt. It is not that expensive in comaparison to the time you are wasting to get his sauqred away

I bought a book from Amazon and the USPS guys lost it. Amazon sent another one with 2 Day shipping and it's been 2 days past the scheduled delivery. They also lie about attempted delivery and notices.

I was delivering to an apartment complex, small 30-something units. I checked the outgoing box, no mail but there was a blank money order for $600, it was signed but not made out to anyone. I could have easily taken it but I didn't. It's wrong and I figured this was Rent for someone, so I dropped it in the office rent slot, hope they did the right thing

I feel bad for you I live in Canada and Canada post is pretty good well it depends most of the time there good. They lost a page once I sent to a buddy of mine they contacted me right away threw my email and they called my cell and my house they were on top of there shit. The notified me and said were looking into it. They ended up not finding it but they were completely sorry about it they gave me a whole book of stamps for free they felt bad I said it's okay at least you tried has hard as you could to resolve it and gave me free stamps. That's how they should treat there customers

the fact of the mater no matter what shipping you go threw someone else is gonna handle your mail fedex has the best tracking but usps is other than that rated the top shipping service, shit nor rain sleet hail snow or shine they deliver it to your front door walking block after block instead of jumping their fat asses out of a delivery truck for a couple houses. How do you make sure you have honest employees at any business?
