A Game of Piracy & Predictions-Skull King Playthrough

We're making predictions about our own pirating proficiency in Skull King, a family-friendly game of trick-taking and bidding from Grandpa Beck's Games. Skull King is great for 3-8 players, Ages 8+
*RULES CLARIFICATION courtesy of commenter Simon: The correct rules of play state that "In each round you’ll have the chance to earn bonus points, but get your bid wrong and you won’t score any of them." We incorrectly collected bonus points for winning bonus-point cards and capturing Mermaid/Pirate/Skull King cards on rounds in which we had missed our bid. Thanks Simon!*

Slight rules error. If you start with a special card ie pirate/siren/skullking, then that trick does not have a suit - hence you are not forced to follow suit on the first colored card played after. 14:25

Is this game any different than spades?

It certainly shares the core concept of bidding on how many tricks you will win! The biggest differences would be that your hand size is equal to the round number, so you only have 1 card in hand in round 1, etc-as well as all the special cards that interact with each other and add more scoring opportunities.
The other card game that's most closely related to Skull King would be Wizard, and "Up and Down the River" is pretty close as well.

Believe it or not but...I've made up my own Card Game with the Reign Of Dragoness Cards, check it out!!! :D
I call this Game "The Soaring Spades Of Dragoness"
Deal 15 Cards to each player.
The Player to the left of the dealer lays down the first card on top of the deck and goes first.
You must play a card related to the clan's Suite that's presented on the table.
You must play a card that has a higher number than the one that's on top of the pile.
If you do not have any cards of that certain Suite, you may find a card that has the same exact number from a different Suite.
If you do not have that too, than, you must play a set or run to end your turn.
If you cannot play either a Clans' Suite, set or a run, than, you draw three cards
Which ever clan suite is on top of the pile, is the suite you NEED to play in.
Revive Eggs come into play ONLY IF you are unable to lay down any cards on the table AT ALL.
Think of the eggs as a second turn BUT beware, when you play an Egg revival card, you draw 3 cards.
Egg cards are also wild cards too, so, once you lay an Egg down, you have the right to change the clans' suite.
The wild cards come into play when either you do not have any clan related cards, sets or runs.
Page Elbrea is the lowest wild card to play and is higher than any of the dragon clan cards but cannot beat Squire, Byrok and the Dragoness.
Squire Shafer is the middle highest wild card and can beat Page and the other Dragon clan cards but cannot beat Byrok and the Dragoness.
Knight Byrok is the highest wild card and can beat Squire, Page and the other clan cards but can be beaten by the Dragoness.
If the Dragoness card comes into play, the other player MUST complete a set AND run from their hands in order to stay in the game.
Otherwise the player who played the Dragoness card wins the round.
If the pile of cards reaches 12 or when no one is able to play any more cards, the deck gets shuffled and restarts back to which ever number is flipped up first.
When ever a player lays down a wild card, they can change the suite to any of the Dragon Clans AND choose any number that each wild card presents.
The Game is over when either the deck of cards runs out or the person who gets rid of all cards in their hand is the winner of the round.
I truly hope I've explained all of this in decent terms...LOL!!! :D
