my summary of this song: *beginning *whistling *trey playing guitar better than you can in your dreams *fast loud trippy part *trey kicks more musical ass *slow quiet whispering trippier part *basically the beginning again *end
Back in the day from 94-98 nobody could touch Trey when it came to tone. He had i think 3 or 4 different rigs during those years but that is what made his tone unique.
Last night I was lying in bed waiting to sleep again and I was like did Trey ever have a Leslie onstage or just the Black Cat Vibe and I Bugged out because it doesn't matter
i love when they throw on little compositional changes to their heavily composed pieces, like the extension of the whistling section towards the beginning. Thanks for the upload!
@@daveleafey9283 The band is *named* after the drummer! But Lou's point is well taken in this context, because Page is uncommonly loud in the mix compared to shows and studio recordings.
I love that old early Pink Floyd / Syd Barrett speaking softly behind the quiet singing effect. It's so spooky. Push on you keyboard the number "8" to cue up to the moment to which I'm referring.
Phish is always playing on my sound bar at work when I'm kicking out some dank plates Trey is whistling in the background while customers enjoy the deliciousness
I think some of them were actually nervous during this. I can tell by the way their playing, at least mike and trey, the really tense hands and the need for improvisation right after they mess up
@Rosario3338 To people who have a clue, he is not. I had the good fortune of seeing this song the 2nd time they played it live, it has remained a gem to me ever since.
Trey was clearly on Acid or Shrooms. At the end he is like "We'd like to play a long song for you now. It would be about 4 commericals long, come back were playing the same song"
Love how they very casually nail this
BEST TONE IN THE INDUSTRY
Double screamers and a ross compressor
......love it
Sonic positivity
Trey's tone on Rift ♡
The Godphathers
Trey's concentration around 6:30 is just ferocious- Guyute kills me every time.

I forgot to mention it was 1:11 Qaddafi in my bed... so I smoked a joint with him
one of my favorite Guyutes ever.
I recently listened to almost all of Fall '94 and one of the greatest rewards was hearing them develop Guyute like every other night or so
this is and will always be one of my favorite songs and favorite phish break downs
I'd drop $40 for these sessions on DVD. Such a great time for Phish... such a great environment too.
I wish there was a "Fishman Cam" for this whole video. He seriously needs to do a drumming DVD. He has much knowledge to drop. I love this band.
the breakdown at 4:51 always makes me feel like I'm sitting in front of my fireplace under a blanket with some hot chocolate
With Foam?
Amazing playing. Uniquely incredible song.
Its pure music genius.
god fish is just so in the zone his drumming is absolutely flawless in these
I thought this was on late night tv for a second. If only…
i love when they throw on little compositional changes to their heavily composed pieces, like the extension of the whistling section towards the beginning. Thanks for the upload!
the hammer ons in the rig at like 4:25 is sick. then the model riffs before the breakdown are magic
there is a magical moment right here. Trey even looks at Mike and they're like "yep. thats the stuff"
I recorded this when it was originally on. On VHS. Lol. Charlie Rose did a badass interview of the band before each song.
I love the whistling at about 0:50
90s Trey ftw
Trey, Gordon, and are spot on in this, as usual.
As usual back then
thanks for uploading this
Forgot about this weird mustache era Trey
you're just jealous you can't grow one like that
Given the choice between moustache Trey or cowlick Trey circa 2000?
Trey is a Jedi!
Boogie on...
One very unique strange, injjoiable piece
I like this show on TV ! it's my precious memories. Thank you for uploaded
trey's tone sounds so good here! I wish he would go back to this rig on or after this current 10' tour! !
Me too, Sadly never happened
seeing this song live was so fucking epic
what a song. what a fuckin song. Can't stop the madness!
Page is such an underrated piece of Phish
Is he ? By who ? I think Fishman is if anybody
@@daveleafey9283 The band is *named* after the drummer! But Lou's point is well taken in this context, because Page is uncommonly loud in the mix compared to shows and studio recordings.
That Page McConnell is one piece of Phish much like Veronica Vaughan
the best, simply put.
I saw them live in Vancouver in 1999...great live discovery back then ...good old days
The story of the ghost that Trey and Tom never told us is that Phish has been Canadian this entire time
7/6/00 is where it was revealed to me
Life wouldn't be the same without this band. They just f'ing rule!
this is why i love phish
awesome concert

My favorite phish song.
Still?
@@DanHuberTube god damn right
One more thing while I have the chance the flying lawnmower 'There is no need to be upset' meme is in the direct lineage of The Dude Of Life
absolutely incredible
you said, "god fish", ,,,so wonderfully appropriate!
great playin'All 4 of them
Amazing!
Out-take New Year's Gag: Guyute at midnight with Fishman in the Tommy Lee drum thing over the venue with double bass and full metal version
It ain't easy livin' free
Has to be at Hampton though
Phish is always playing on my sound bar at work when I'm kicking out some dank plates Trey is whistling in the background while customers enjoy the deliciousness

Smooth guyete to start the day
Perfection

I agree, it's great. But they didn't write this for the album, they were performing it in 1995.
im in love
My favorite. I almost have it down on drums 😁
fuuucking brilliant
Best Guitar Tone in the Business !!!! Enjoy !!!!
The Best Guitar Tone in the Business !!!! Enjoy !!!!

I applaud the crowd for remaining seated for this performance, me,myself ...cant sit through this song,,,gotta dance the jig!!
bob weaver antelope Greg?
How many people were at that show? Sure must have been a fun time...
I need Trey's sweater
That wasn't Charlie Rose, it was David Byrne.
Amen mike fucking G
I agree. Frank is the best!
Ditto fo sho
Fishman’s playing on this. 😳
Word
@6:10 "Oh shit, have we started the song yet? my b"
3:18 is magic
that's happened to everyone..
Aw, you missed basically the whole song,
@Rosario3338 I think thats the best part about him, and its probably what he wanted..
Look at fishman getting tripped out by one of his own songs! haha, can't blame him, I've had my share of trips to this song.
Yes Trey is good, but Page has my vote for most musical in this band.
3:52
Who broke the audience ?
Trey was clearly on Acid or Shrooms. At the end he is like "We'd like to play a long song for you now. It would be about 4 commericals long, come back were playing the same song"
Island Tour'd very long and very slow radio unfriendly version
We were bored at home that's how it all started IYKYK
Brilliant! How many hits of acid was that?
he has mental issues
Oh, my ears
they're just awful.
