There are a lot of companies out there that can power through recession and hardship periods, I'm just a fan of buying into moat heavy, cash flow grantors, buy on dips, and add as they drop, and enjoy the bull markets when they happen.
As always, it’s absurd when people call stocks momentum a flunk, they aren't considering the long run. The companies themselves have not changed, it's the market that changed. Steady as it goes, and it'll regroup in weeks.
I need the market to go down some anyway. The small pullback at the beginning of the month wasn't enough. I was looking for a rough setback as I am eager to capitalize on the market.
nibbling on heavy red days has proven to be fruitful for me, these days I’m extremely attentive we are entering an unusual market (distort) economy. That doesn't mean that you can't unravel opportunities in every sectors, you can but you should be considering rewarding options first to 10x in excess. It would be a vast awareness to align under a top performer for easy earning picks. I did the same and it works.

Another thing I wanted to mention. Most traders preach that you should Not (over trade). I always thought in my head that this does not make sense. We simply dont know how every one of the coming trades is going to be. We dont know if its going up, down, ranging, winning, losing, we just dont know. I have seen good trades start at the worst trading time zones they tell us to avoid, and have seen worst trades come at the high liquidity time zones. I think based on what you mentioned, their advice is irrelevant of the real odds and probability. Odds will eventually play out if we allow them to run over and over and over again
That's true. I think some warn against overtrading because it's often revenge trading, invalid trades that aren't part of your strategy, late entries, etc. But as long as they're valid trades, you have a good point.
I have been doing nothing but study trading for 18 months now, went through lots of strategies, and every time i wanted to start trading any of them, as soon as i got those losses my brain would flip and ditch that strategy even though i did my study and i know i do have a good edge and a good risk management system. Your video changes a lot in my psychology. I did know what you already spoke about, but it feels good to hear it from someone else who has been in the business longer and knows what hes doing Thank you

Overall, I thought the video was really good! The only part I see differently is at 3:10. I feel like that's where the coin flip analogy doesn't quite apply. In real trading, if you tighten your stop, the chances of it getting hit go up, so it's not really a 50/50 chance like a coin flip anymore.

Adding risk reward reduces the number of wining trade , when stop loss is small it hits and trade move in needed direction , risk reward is reducing overall probability of winning .

As a teenager when I hit the dating pool a few guys thought they were heroes because they went through women as if they were in a cornfield grabbing ears of corn. Other guys felt like losers because they couldn't land any, or as many. It took me a while to realize I did not need to do anything. If I stayed in one place long enough some gal would indicate she was interested in me. She was worth ten of the one's picked up by the "heroes."

An edge can also be a purse advantage. It does not matter if you have $1,000, $10,000, or $100,000. If the flipper flips that penny long enough at a dollar a flip they will eventually lose all their money. However the player with the least money will statistically lose theirs first. In a casino the house always has the most money. In poker you have pot advantage as my friend explained it to me. If the pot is X times or more of his investment he will draw to an inside straight. (Something beginners are told to never do). It doesn't matter that he only wins 1/13 of the time. His win is more than all his losses. Do I completely understand the trader's edge you are describing? No. But that does not matter. I will grab it like a pit bull on a bone until I have chewed it up completely and digested it thoroughly.
I can’t tell you how much I needed to hear this Jason! After another night of getting frustrated over backtesting and wanting to change the trading plan again to figure out what is going wrong I was ready to take a break and step away before I ruin the trading plan! Getting the understand that nothing is going to be 100% correct is very hard!
3 years profitable trader here: at 1st I thought what kinda click bait nonsense video is that gonna be, nevertheless watched to the end it's actually a verry good eye opening point that you make. found very interesting that after 150 coin flips you barley at break even, even though you had mathematical proof that you should be in profits( I actually watched the video more then once)
The brokers edge is the spread and commission. So your risk reward has to account for that. Another edge that the broker has is allowing instant funding and they milk this edge when a margin call is looming, depleting your life savings too. Be aware of all their tricks and protect yourself.

Thank you. however i have a small note, on the minute 15:37 you mentioned on the JPY example that the winning expectation is 50% which i think its not correct, its 25%, because the market will move either up or down (which is 50%) and then you will be long or short ( and this is another 50%) so your over all chance is 25%.

This is what happened to me when i was backtesting my strategy over the course of the month i was profitable even if had -50% draw downs the +300% profit was still there at the end of the month it was just because i kept quitting that made the strategy unprofitable

As long as your edge is larger than the cyclic fees per trade (commissions), there is no such thing as overtrading.
