Jean, it was so lovely to get to know your dad a little through this tour. I was born the same year as he was. What a treasure trove of memories he left for you and your mom! Take care! 🌸
How you speak about your dad fills me with such warmth. That is one impressive book collection! I could spend all day looking through them. I also love seeing that beautiful edition Dune on your dads fiction shelf too ^_^
I'd wish my family members were readers, it'd be lovely to be able to talk about books with someone special.. My friends, unfortunately, aren't readers either :-)
Please don't feel that you have to apologize for your Harry Potter books as they have given so much happiness since their publication. My HP books are the pride of my book collection.
I don’t feel sorry for owning the originals or for all the joy they’ve brought me ☺️ I just wanted it to be clear I don’t support Rowing or put more money in her pockets through her new projects.
@@JeansThoughts I was really glad to hear you clarify that in this video! I'm glad you can still appreciate the books for what they were at a certain time too :)
Your parents collection of political non-fiction is amazing 😍love the Peanuts collection too!! And that Terry Pratchett/Modern Classics bookcase is so satisfying because the books all fit so well! So many beautiful books and well done on the editing/filming of it all haha
Thank you, that was such a treat! I think it's really special and beautiful that you get to go through your dad's collection whenever you want. Oh and btw, I totally agree, most bookshelves are way too deep! I need some more shallow ones too, there's just too much wasted space on mine :D
The amount of bookshelves you have is a DREAM! So nice to hear you talk about your dad, you can see how much his presence lives on ❤️ hope you’re keeping safe x
Idk if you have already done this, but I’d love to see a video of you going through all your classics/modern classics like you did with your Greek books! It might be tedious but I think it would be super cool. Especially because classics have so many editions it’s always cool to see what people have.
What an amazing book collection! And it was so interesting to hear about your dads background as well, I really do admire people that dare to go to uni a bit later in life! Also I would love to watch the reading vlog about your moms favourite feminist books from the 80s!
First name I saw at the close up was Bertold Brecht and my heart sang 💕 (Your dad had great taste in general though, so I'm not surprised. Thank you for making this tour! 💛)
I loved this video so so much! Books are such a great way to connect to people - even when they're no longer here, because they showcase what that person cared about and different aspects of what interested them. My granddad was a huge reader and after him and my grandmother passed away, their book collection was passed on to different members of the family, so now I own quite a few of his old books and they're all so special to me. Some of the books on your dad's shelves were even the exact same editions as the ones my granddad owned and I couldn't help but smile when I noticed them :)
Thanks for your video, I always appreciate watching them. I'd just like to say I was a bit surprised and also happy to see your father had a few books by Jorge Amado. I'm Brazilian and it's always nice to see how far some of our literature got to XD
I have never read any Terry Pratchett but when I see bookshelf tours, I often see rows and rows of his books. I guess he's like potato chips, once you start you can't stop. I will say that the Pratchett etc. shelves were SO pleasingly organized OMG. Can you come and help me with my bookshelves? They are a hot mess. Thank you soooo much for taking the time to do this long tour, it was so enjoyable and wow, what a home to be raised in where there is such a celebration of learning all around you. :)
Have you ever felt an urge to arrange your Dads' books in a way that's aesthetically pleasing to you? I visited Edinburgh last fall. Scotland is a gorgeous country and the people were so friendly and welcoming. My Dad was an electrician and we had his electrical manuals on our family bookshelf.
I love the way you talk about your dad. It must bring so much comfort to have his books still around. I would absolutely love an in depth look at your political/feminist non fiction books!
This was such a fascinating video. It's a reader's paradise, truly. My favourite shelf is the first one (your father's collection of literary fiction?). I had read many from that. Thanks for sharing. Best, Rahul. :)
This was such a satisfying video to watch! From you sharing memories about your parents, books and just random things, to the different organisation styles of the different bookcases. Also it's nice to see other people who have many books but also sort them. 😅
I have that Once Upon a Time book too! A different edition (same illustration on the cover but different binding). I adore that book, the stories in it, the beautiful art and the way it smells. The bookcase the Pratchett and Walter Moers (my favourite German recluse) are in is absolutely gorgeous, it’s my favourite one too. 😍 I’m very envious of your Dad’s Peanuts collection, wonderful.
Oh my goodness, the WICCA books by Cate Tiernan! Such nostalgia! I have all of them up my parents loft along with many others but I loved that series. Seeing them had given me the urge to re-read ✨
Yesss the Magicians Guild, one of my absolute favourites! Can highly recommend (as it's on your tbr shelves ;))! The reading vlog with your moms books sounds great!
You live in a small library book store. I hope one day I could have that many bookcases. At the moment I have two large tubs with probably 130 books and other 50ish audible books spread over two accounts.
I love how you have Zola next to books about Celtic (I think my dad has that one as well!) XD Very similar to our bookshelves where you have books on the troubles in Ireland, Celtic, French classics and Jane Austen on the same shelf XD
I'm in love with your and your family's book collection, and the stories and warmth associated with it. Thank you for making this video! I will probably be rewatching more than once in the future to get inspired. Random note: Russian souvenir matches (at 14:00) on a bookshelf might just be a bit of a fire hazard... This was a very extensive an illuminating tour. Well done. I do wonder, though, about a couple things. Firstly, what happened to the bulk of your father’s books by authors beginning with “A”? That section seems sparse - I spotted only 13 "A" books on those first three bookcases. Also, how well are you able to locate a given book among these 17 bookcases? If I may, I’d like to offer a “Find This Book In Your Own Home” Challenge: 1. Permission by Saska Vogel 2. The Book of Imaginary Beings by Jorge Luis Borges 3. Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie All have appeared in this video. Good luck if you choose to go on this scavenger hunt. 😉

You could open a library thats an impressive collection your family has built though I do not envy your mum and you if your mum ever decides to move I found packing and moving one argos shelf bad enough!
my mom has a huge collection of books as well. gives me anxiety, really. I mean, 3000 books... I don't even read 100 books a year. That would take me 30 years to read. xD
I mean I highly doubt I’ll read all of these aha I don’t even feel the need to as they’re mine, my mums and my dads aha. Some of them are just memories.
I mean only their whole lives 😉 tbh all of my mums free time is occupied by political campaigning, her dad raised her to be super active ☺️ I feel very lucky to have grown up with them!

In a nutshell!
So lovely you have your Dad's books. I think they are a great way to remember someone.
Your dad really took “there is no such thing as too many books, only not enough bookcases” to heart.

This video in short:
I live in a library.
