Just want to add that the water tower at Austvoll th-cam.com/video/EUcS7c8YiNU/w-d-xo.html is one of the two last water towers of it's kind on the original Bergen Line. The other one is located at Stryken on the Gjøvik Line. Both of these has a circular foundation.
There used to be a tower at Gol as well, but it was torn down during the renovation of the station there, but that tower had a square foundation.
When it comes to shaking camera, this is because the system I have was designed for the EL18 and FLIRT specifically. A new camera was ordered in December but due to the current chip shortage and freight challenges.... well I'm still waiting for for it to arrive...
The guys at Foto.no is working really hard to get it for me. Huge shout out for them for being so awesome and providing such good service!

OK. It's official. We are definitely spoiled. Just watched the whole thing on my UHD large screen. The photography makes it seem like I'm in your cab. Small signs are easy to read. Countryside is especially beautiful when accented by snow showing nice detail nearby and on far away mountains. I checked out how much your camera and lens cost. Holy cow! And you mastered your annotations along the way giving a very professional presentation. Only question I have when you occasionally say "oompa-oomp" along the way, what does that mean? And thanks again. ❤

Really enjoyed watching that. What a fabulous place to work! I did 25 years on the railway here in the UK as a Guard and a station controller. In the early days when we had slam door trains, we used to to an early morning run that would take us through the New Forest area of Hampshire. We'd always stop at Beaulieu Road station, a tiny place in the middle of nowhere. I remember stepping down onto the platform./ All you could hear was the birds singing their dawn chorus and the hot resistors under the train just ticking away to themselves. Very happy days indeed. Thank you for posting this video, watching it really made my day. :-)

Wow! Been working down in Chile and Peru for just over three months and finally got a chance to watch one of your video and was pleasantly surprise to see you now operating a
freight-train had no idea until seeing this video you did both freight and passenger train operations. I guess until seeing this video I had the idea that train engineers were assigned to either freight or passenger service duty. Kind of silly of me to think that but just goes to show how wrong my assumption was. Great video, thoroughly enjoyed seeing a different side to your engineering abilities, RailCowGirl your one of the BEST that's for sure.

I've been trying to figure out if this was real or not lol. Finally realized at just after 3:02:39 the glare from the incoming train isn't natural. It just appears and disappears instead of panning across as it passes and it never got progressively lighter it just got bright and the disappeared as soon as the other train passed. Some things I've seen made me wonder if it was created or recorded but I am not used to super high Def and I have those tvs now so sometimes things look fake. I gotta say, I'm actually drastically more impressed that it is simulated. That is a shit ton of detail! Unbelievable! Looks like that unreal engine shit. Very high quality work. I've had videos like this running on one of our tvs and love checking in at various times and watching bits of the trail. Very cool and very cool idea.

    • @RailCowGirl

The glare? you are aware that the glare you're talking about is me turning on the cab light to wave to the operator in the other train, right? A totally normal custom here in Norway.

There are several through tracks through the station (from the Drammen direction) but in all your videos I have only ever seen just the main platform one in use, even if not stopping at Honeyfoss!

There are more rules applied for freight trains as it comes down to type of wagon, markings and weight and brake percentage. Standard speed for freight trains in Norway is 100.

I like all the videos of Rail Cow Girl (since a long time, when she was "Hindu Cow Girl"), but I realized I like the stabilised videos more. The shaky cam is not my favourite video effect in the movies - and here also, it seems to me that the camera shaking chips away from the impression of serenity and stability that are given by other videos she uploaded, where I can feel like I am effortlessly flying at 0 gravity over the rail lines, in a beautiful landscape.
But a big "Thank you for your effort!", anyway!

    • @RailCowGirl

Like previously mentioned the shakyness is because of the design of the cab itself and my system was designed around the EL18 and FLIRT, I've been waiting for a new systems since December, but due the freight crisis and lack of silicone to make chips everything is hauling out in time. Hopefully I'll be able to rid of that shakiness.. . it's either a bit shaky or no video at all.

@@RailCowGirl Before Norway I was watching Indian and Pakistani rail videos. One or two of the rail vloggers in Pakistan are almost national celebrities and it seems they have very good friendships with the drivers, to the extent that in the highlands they get to ride and film from the front platform (USA style diesels with walkways).
Been wondering about that for a while until I saw the above.

OK, I'm not after any details, but I would still like to know what happened to Train Thor, I watched nearly all his videos, and if you go to his channel, there's NO video's, NO contact info, NO explanation...he had a good thing going, and then WHAM, stopped....was is TH-cam or the "train" company ?? That's all, I'd like to know...please :)

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I won't go into details, but a permanent ban on filming was issued in the Vy-group due to safety and liability. There is a reason I NEVER used GPS or showed the trains true speed. Simply because the data can be off making it look like you're speeding. That reflects TRULY badly on the company and the safety.
You reap what you sow... The ban burned down other TH-camrs as well, and the pure recklessness is a testament that this is not for everyone. If you're unable to see the reach of your own actions, and how it reflects on everyone else, then you should not be doing this at all.
The person responsible for this should be sitting very quietly in the boat for a good while before the National Rail Administration issues a nation wide ban on filming in the cab!
      Guess this sums it up.

    • @laurencegray4720

Have the railroads in Norway ever thought of imitating what the regional transit agency in Chicago--METRA--and the Chicago Transit Authority did? Both Metra and the CTA officially installed cameras in almost all of their trains to automatically film the trips from the engineer's point of view. Then both Metra and the CTA put the videos on TH-cam for people to watch. Also, in addition, the CTA installed cameras in some of their buses so you could take a trip by bus in what is called "virtual reality" if you want to.
