Frame the gum ball poster and put it up on the back wall. Gum ball memories forever and you’ll always be able to tell the story years from now. I personally loved the gum ball videos.
The thing with booths is that you will get out as much as you put in to them. My friends with successful booths are in them weekly. They freshen up the items, rotating inventory in and out. They decorate them for holidays and add holiday items. Even just moving things around, dusting, adding lights to make things pop, etc... that's what sets their booth apart from others. I've been taking notes because I would love to open one myself one of these days.
The idea to support the other booth vendors by purchasing their items is a good one. If your booth is not bringing you joy it's time to rethink that commitment.
You guys are so real and fun! You are entertaining and informative! Life is a challenge everyday but you learn from the downs! But you have lots of ups! Thank you for sharing!
Good tip is to start small... I have a small corner in a local spot that is only $65 a month. I sell low end excess video games and larger items or $5 to $10 items. Make about $100+ a month and treat it like an ongoing yard sale.
The important thing is you got to keep it well stocked and you got to rotate inventory every so often or at least bring in new things to supplement what you have because if people go every week and it's the same stuff every week they're eventually going to just start walking by your booth
First - I love your channel! You two are a younger version of my husband and me. ❤️ In the early 2000s, I had a booth plus a website and was an Ebay Powerseller. My booth didn't do well because I was stretched too thin. It took all of my energy just with online sales. I finally let the booth go, but it was definitely a learning experience. People also damaged some of my items to the point they weren't sellable - that part was frustrating. I don't regret doing it, but I probably wouldn't again. People have changed how they shop, and it's moved largely online. I adore Amanda though - her staging is phenomenal. 😍 Happy New Year from frozen Arkansas!
Small things are ok for fillers in a booth but bigger items- flipped furniture etc are your bread and butter. That store looked like an indoor flea market
Bummed about your booth experience! I started one at a local antique mall in Nov 2023 and have had so much fun with it. But, I do take it very seriously and go at least once a week to restock. Selling mostly VHS, Vinyl, Vintage clothing, and Video Games. I will say, the team that runs this mall had a lot of experience and do a great job of advertising it. That is one reason I thought this adventure would pay off.
5 weeks is insane. I am sure it would help you to visit at least each week to move things around and make it look fresh. Sometimes simply relocating an object from one side of the booth to the other could change a persons opinion. I would love to see a revitalization of your booth I'm sure you can recover it from its current state.
I work my booths once or twice a week. I find that customers stay in booths where they feel comfortable, see things that remind them of past memories, make them want to go home and style some of their areas, etc. of course this doesn’t apply to everyone some customers are just there to find a treasure and not worried about the appearance of the area per say. Take some time looking at other booths and ask which are the top three sellers in your building. Good luck
A booth is a lot of work and you have to take care of it weekly. I ask friends to stop by and straighten mine when they’re in the neighborhood. Do it for fun and don’t worry about the dollars too much. It’s not a priority for your business model but good enough to keep!
Maybe its a nice idea to rent a smaller booth and maybe style it a bit more colourful and clearly show that its your booth. You do have fans that might enjoy visiting it, buy some smaller items, write something in the guestbook. So it might not be very profitable, but a space dedicated to your fans to visit. I live in germany, but if i would live closer to you, i would check it regularly to support you and i think many fans will agree ❤
Hey Hayley and Josh. For that sharpie if the magic eraser doesn't work use rubbing alcohol or write over it with a dry erase marker. Hope you guys had a happy new year.
Its interesting because my booth experience is the exact opposite. I average around $700 a month take home and I really only sell stuff that I don't feel like shipping or stuff that isn't worth selling on eBay. Its been a real game changer for my business.
@@HairyTornado I would say not really. Its not nearly as big and (what seems to be) established as the store your booth is in. My "booth" is more like a couple of shelves really. I think it does well because I appeal to a specific type of person. For the most part I sell toys, action figures, video games, funko pops, etc. I made a FBMP ad for my booth as well that I update whenever I stock my booth every couple of weeks. It attracts people to the store who wouldn't normally go there but they go just for my booth. The difference really is the stuff you sell on Whatnot is pretty much what I would sell in my booth, like Funko Pops. I put any Funko Pop thats $12 free shipping or less in my booth for $5. They sell all day long, I cant keep them stocked. You guys take that kind of stuff and sell it on Whatnot so its not really different. I also put my business card in there that lists the stuff I buy and it has actually led to a couple of deals.
I know you all probably don't have time for this, but people around me who have a booth will list their large items on Facebook. I don't know how well it works, but I have considered buying items I saw listed like that because I could just go whenever the booth was open and wouldn't have to worry about a meet-up. Just happened to decide I wanted a slightly different item.
You all should sign the gumball poster and auction it off on a large whatnot show. 😊 Luv your videos, big fan. Love Mose and Stanley too, so cute!! Best always, Tracy.
The booth is also like a billboard for your eBay/whatnot. Maybe try a discount code that’s only up in your booth to see how many people see your booth and then convert to online sales.
That’s great with the Funko Pops. Do a What Not show and advertise it as a missionary haul. I would think that people will be more willing to show up and purchase when they know that it’s going for a Honduras trip.
I have a hard time making profit with my booth as well. Recently what I find helps to make my rent is selling plant propagations in the unique jars I find while pickin. easy momey!
That wrestling belt is known as the “Big Gold Belt” or “BGB” for short. It was probably made by jacks pacific and can be found on the backside. That was probably with a WCW or WWF/E made product and it’s an adult one by the view. Brand new… any where from $400 up and used is $100 up depending on condition. I buy and sell them all the time. Love outta Alaska and thanks for the vids.
I found the trick with booths is what I label Re-Fillables. Trading cards, Enamel Pins, pop culture stuff. and you can easily order more each month. I sold 60 worth of enamel pins yesterday for example. that offsets the booth cost quickly and makes it worth while.
I started a shelf at The Marketplace in October 2023 when I saw your video when you moved in. I closed out mine end of December 2024. It was a fun experience and you are right the people there are super nice. I am focused on my eBay store only. Glad the gumball machine broke even. You both are such an inspiration and I appreciate all your great content. Let’s go 2025!
Amanda’s Mercantile is one of my favorite TH-camrs!! I have a booth in Waxahachie, Tx at a really nice antique/vintage place called “With Willing Hands”. Most of the vendors there really excel at displaying their merchandise, making vignettes, etc. Unfortunately I’m not great at that. My sales are ok but I’m constantly trying to learn how to be better. It takes a lot of time and energy to have a successful booth. You guys do so well at all of your other ventures, I could see letting go of your booth. Thanks for all of your content!❤ Tammie
Do they do any special events where you have your booth to bring in more traffic? A few places here started doing an outside "flea market" where anyone can rent a parking space and set up.
if you do not put the time into it what do you expect there my friend. it is good that you try to look at different ways to expand your business. not trying to sound like I am trying to put you down. it is always good to try different.
I think you are at least still half a dollar under water with the gumball machine. You collord a half ball on the left side in the middle. Nevertheless I am loving your channel. The bins are amazing I wish we had them in Holland too. Best wishes, Ine.
I just gave up my booth in December. I never even broke even on it. Also, your booth was in the very back of the store and location makes a big difference. It's sad because I have some great big items that I can't sell on Ebay.
Customers who shop vintage malls are there all the time. If they come back to your booth a few times and it's all the same stuff they will start walking right past the booth. Attentiveness and curation can definitely improve vintage booth success. All malls are not equal. Some are dead until the owners curate the right dealers and shoppers.
The one thing I would say about your booth is that God stuck right at the back. It appears that the only ones seeing your stock will be those coming directly to your booth (TH-cam fans and maybe previous customers) or the small number who want to see every booth. Love the channel :-)
Sadly that booth location is not great. So many other locations that get more foot traffic. I have stopped in there often and purchased from different vendors
Hey you two, love ya! You have great videos and thought-out plans. I believe your both very smart in business and will make everything work out. Live and learn, great strategy. God bless.
In the grand scheme of things, the booth is a cool feature and a part of your content creation. If we're being honest, the booth losing $500 aint shit compared to the amount of revenue it has contributed to your youtube channel 😂
Hello I have a booth and I do shows and Facebook marketplace my booth was terrible until I decided to do something I love with it as a toy collector I switched my booth to toys and now it stays busy year round
Helpful hint for cleaning sharpie marker on items like the Lightning McQueen car. Any color Erasable Expo brand white board markers will disolve sharpie markers. Just go over the sharpie mark with the expo marker and wipe it off. Quicker and easier than magic eraser.
I love you two, I think you're good role models. Oh and I actually came to say that I love your sweater Hayley, it's really pretty. Good luck finding quality inventory. Oh and I love your golfing channel too! And I don't golf!!! Lol ❤😂
We had a booth in a market and we did ok for the first 6 months then we would sell one month and had to add money the next month after one year we pulled out.
this is what i hear over & over... i want to try it so bad, but I fear it being a total loss. Might have to try it and see...idk I have super mixed feelings on whether to do it or not!
At my antique store booth, I sell mostly record albums and CDs. I have a rather large space in a popular tourist location. I pay $550 a month rent (no selling fees). Last month I made $6,000 in sales. My average is usually around $4,000 a month. I've had this booth for a couple of years and have a dedicated customer base due to a large selection of new and used records, reasonable pricing, and an active store only Facebook page. I visit the booth once a week to restock and straighten up.
Finally XMAS stuff is coming out and bits of old toys and jewelry come out with it. My friends had the gun lighter. Did not work. To really have a good booth, you have to mess with it nearly every day.
I had booths several different times before ebay - the problem is actual traffic through the antique mall - the world is looking on ebay and other online platforms - the choice is obvious - buy from your friends at the mall and resell online - that way you are supporting them and can visit, but just sells better online! Time is money!
I agree see if they will just keep the gumball machine but move it near the front! You pay a small fee but probably get more people to buy from it. And label the candy!
The owners of that "antique mall" or whatever you want to call it will realise that if you were to remove your booth a lot of their footfall was probably viewers visiting and potentially buying from other booths than yours. I also think if you are not maintaining a booth weekly then you cannot expect it to be successful. Leaving it for 8 weeks is not the way to do it unfortunately
Always watch Josh and haley from Ireland 🇮🇪 love the videos. This was the first comment I seen and it put a big smile on my face. Thank you. You, too, are awesome 👌
We had a booth that started from winning the bid on a storage bldg. We started with 1 booth then added the small wall booth and then a 3rd right across from our original booth. It did really well the first 2 years but life happened and time spent taking care of parents took us away from the booths. We had not made money for the first 6 months in 2023. We gave the booth up July 2023 and my mom fell July 21st and passed Aug 31st. I slipped on wet floors in the hospital room on Aug 17th and broke my back. So we gave up the booths at the right time. I enjoyed it SO much and was hoping to get back into it but am now helping my sister and her invalid husband. I retired to help take care of my parents and God isn't thru with me helping. I'm a perfectly imperfect care giver. ❤
I’ve had a couple booths for several years. Currently way down in sales due to economy but still doing $2K plus a month. You could try a permanent sale in your booth. 20% all the time. Which sounds crazy when you lose 10% to the store… but selling more items easily makes up for smaller margins. Just gotta make sure your purchase price allows you a tidy profit. People like to think they’re getting a deal. So instead of pricing items below retail value… price them at full retail with an ongoing sale. Always worked for me.
Josh, retail booths in Flea markets can be very profitable for low volume sellers. you have to work on that booth at least 1 time per week if you want it to make money. its not worth your time because your time is more valuable due to your youtube channel and your large online sales business. unless you are doing the flea market booth for youtube content its not worth your time.
I started 2024 with 4 booths and ended with 1 booth sometimes its good, and sometimes it's a huge loss. Although it is usually fun, the theft and the booth trashing people do leave me speechless and exhausted.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
About your booth. I have sold at shows and venues all my life.Ebay for 20 years. 1 thing that I think is spoiling your sales is Location..location..location. Too be honest ..your location is terrible in that store.Back corner...people have spent their money before they even get to you booth. I would request a better location. You moved the gum machine to the back of the booth and revenue dropped.Just my opinion. Good luck.
Is it possible to move your booth closer to the front? It feels like your booth is so far in the back… maybe focus on the booth for a bit, too? Y’all aren’t as excited by it and it feels like it shows, so maybe that’s contributing to it. Like others have said, though, if it ain’t bringing you joy, time to let it go!! If you swap to a shelf maybe do specialised “support your friends” stuff like your goodies and hot sauce or the like? 😂🎉 I’m so glad y’all show us all the different ups and downs and various ways to make money. Such neat perspectives!! Thank you both for all you do!! 💖👻🖤
I think… not that you asked…. Going down to 1 booth is a good idea. The shelves? Hmmm. Not sure, I’m not crazy about that idea. Again not that you asked. Thank you for taking us along and for keeping us updated with the gum ball machine, that was fun.
Honestly this is why I moved out of the antique mall I was in for the last 3 years last summer. I just couldn't make the money make sense. I loved putting it together, it was fun and I enjoyed the people but after losing money for about half of the time I was in there and understanding I could sell those items for more online I just had to pull out.

The belt is a replica from WWE/WWF, done as an adult collectable, if I remember correctly there was a limited number and they were about £200

I had booths several different times before ebay - the problem is actual traffic through the antique mall - the world is looking on ebay and other online platforms - the choice is obvious - buy from your friends at the mall and resell online - that way you are supporting them and can visit, but just sells better online! Always watch Josh and haley from Ireland 🇮🇪 love the videos. This was the first comment I seen and it put a big smile on my face. Thank you. You, too, are awesome 👌
Nah, you are!
Who the heck donated the Big Gold Belt?! That's a classic!
Shut the booth down and focus on your successful ventures. 😊
Breaking even is absolutely perfect 😊
I’m interested in that Florida hat and pin you found at the bins. Love your content guys
I would love the Ohio State items you got from the bag at the bins.
The wee dinosaur/dragon is from doc mcstuffin. I think my daughter had one lol. She is 16 now 😆
" Our booth is losing money " - BUT we haven't been here since November 🙄🤷♂
I don't ever feel like they put much effort in their booth.
😎
I’ve had a couple booths for several years. Currently way down in sales due to economy but still doing $2K plus a month. You could try a permanent sale in your booth. 20% all the time. Which sounds crazy when you lose 10% to the store… but selling more items easily makes up for smaller margins. Just gotta make sure your purchase price allows you a tidy profit. People like to think they’re getting a deal. So instead of pricing items below retail value… price them at full retail with an ongoing sale. Always worked for me.
We tried doing a 50% off sale for 3 months lol
I was in the other week and bought a Halo gun for my son's friend. He loved it. ❤
This time of year, nearly all booths are losing money
Time to cut loses and vacate the booth. Make it a business decision not an emotional decision.
I agree w your status idea on type of store .
Otoh, I believe you , yourselves, are a draw to the store.
Craftsman tools like that are guaranteed for life.
I started 2024 with 4 booths and ended with 1 booth sometimes its good, and sometimes it's a huge loss. Although it is usually fun, the theft and the booth trashing people do leave me speechless and exhausted.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You should all, including the pups, sign the 250$ poster and auction that off for Hayley’s mission trip 😊
Alot of really nice finds at the bins WOW
Smart moving gumball machine into the booth making people look inside ❤
