When you mentioned the building had to be secured it reminded me of when I used to service a high security DOE facility and had to have a escort with me at all times.. It took a act of Congress when I needed to access the roof to check units. Dreaded those calls.
Some times techs having to be detectives and looking at the big picture we miss things with so much going on with the unit. You do a great job chasing down a problem
Great video. I was was howling when you went on your energy efficency rant. Its the way the industry is going hence we will never be out of a job sevice calls galore.
Good video Rick. If I had to guess you walked a few miles that day. It's hard to diagnose things quickly when it takes that much time to go from one place to another.
The EVAP was really nice looking, I wish I could spend more time and label and convert it to a current refrigerant and replace the valves but no one has time for that🤦🏻🤑.
Never comment on your videos man but want to say thank you man you’ve tought me so much over this past year doing refrigeration 👊🏽. Had a similar issue like this today with a defrost termination and was able to get it going
You know I can not figure out why tech’s think you have to rewire or change wires around when there is a part or at the most two or three parts that need to be replaced, I like to find the problem and try changing it to put unit back in service as always explained and great content thanks brother

We were getting hit hard with no heat calls so I was being pushed to hurry up. These last few days have been 9-15*F in the mornings. The 📞☎️ is a ring-ING
I looked thru your tool list and didn't see that little solenoid tester. Is that just a little compass? Nevermind I looked on one of your older videos I think. Thanks for all the information and tips. Helps a lot with my service tech job.
I would prefer all new fuses and it probably could have used a 10 amp. I was getting nagged to get done so we could get to all the heat calls coming in.
Thanks Matt 🤣. I share all kinds of information, the guys I worked with ran service up till they were around 59-60yrs old. I have several years to go. I started when I was 19.
Apparently zip ties weren't an option to clean that rat nest up. Always irritates me when i come across wires going everywhere. As for the the rest of that system........my .300 blk out volunteers its services in putting it out of its misery. Another great video Rick
Rick i know its not related with this video but you mentioned in one of the recent ones for checking Refrigerant level in receiver using thermal camera u worm up receiver. What method u use for doing that. Cheers and thanks again for great video.
You can use a heat gun or a hand torch but you have to be careful to not over heat it. You want to heat it just enough to feel the difference where the refrigerant is setting vs just the empty metal at the top of the receiver.
Yay I'm number one today I am the champion maybe LOL :-) :-) I would say keep warm but you're in a freezer oh yeah it's not working so you will be war LOL keep up the good work
From what I seen, depending on where I place it at on a solenoid it can change rotation direction and if a circulator pump is a cartridge type it doesn't work because the it cancels the magnetic flux lines.
That wiring mess and all the problems reminds me of HVAC/R school when the instructor would set up the units with dead components and bugs for the students to fix. Three students in a group per unit all trying their method simultaneously wiring different components there is always smoke always a capacitor to explode in a class 208 wired up to 120 all my newbie students. Who would think when you got out into the real world that installed units are maintenance than throwing together and look just like student trainers units lol 😂

It's a school with younger kids so people usually are more worried. Luckily it's a nice town. The worst is when I work at corrections or the jail.

Thank you!
semi compressor just last forever. good video Rick
That's a nice invoice to write up. 😆
Great video. I was was howling when you went on your energy efficency rant. Its the way the industry is going hence we will never be out of a job sevice calls galore.
Your absolutely right man! I cut down what all I said during editing 🤣. There was more😉
Good video Rick. If I had to guess you walked a few miles that day. It's hard to diagnose things quickly when it takes that much time to go from one place to another.
I got lucky, I was able to get in the front door and right onto the roof. Thanks for watching!
What a mess . Really surprised at the state of the evap coil , 28 yo and it looks mint condition, that's amazing.
Nice one Rick 👍.

3:46 ah the ol' bird nest of wires is always so much fun lol😂

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know! The comments are the best part for me.
"Wow somebody was using their Thinker Muscle" lol
Hard to believe in a state funded building 😅👍👍

I agree 💯 % with you. Thanks for the feedback!
Wow a lot goin on there. Great video doctor 👍. Thanks for sharing. 💪🐕🇺🇸☕

That was a nice one Rick 👍
I haven't met anyone yet that appreciates a rats nest like that. My garage might be a mess, but when it comes to wiring, I want that neat.

Great video Rick !
Great work Rick
Well done. But is over my head
Thanks Rick! It's all good, it's comes with time
good job
Last summer I had a the fan delay blow a hole in one of the loops. On a Saturday at 9pm cause that's how it go.
That sounds like my kind of luck🤦🏻👍👍
I enjoyed the video Rick.
A lot to think about. Nice video!
Thanks Ryan!

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I'm helping other Tech's get there faster, that's my motivation.
Awesome video!!! Thanks for the in depth approach, super helpful!!
Your welcome, thanks for watching it!
Using the most important refrigeration qualification ‘ Turd polishing ‘
Hell yeah 😅👍👍
I'd make a snide remark about that fuse but I'm not going to. Your working, I'm just watching.🤐🤣👍
I would prefer all new fuses and it probably could have used a 10 amp. I was getting nagged to get done so we could get to all the heat calls coming in.
Good job
Damn you are older than i had originally thought. Always seems like you're opening some kind of pandoras box with these older systems.
Thanks Matt 🤣. I share all kinds of information, the guys I worked with ran service up till they were around 59-60yrs old. I have several years to go. I started when I was 19.
Happy New Year Rick, great vid 👌🏻💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks my man! You too!
Great video Rick! It's always fun with old equipment wiring nightmares
I was living the dream that day🤣
Now I have a headache lol
Good vid and good fix ... Quite a rats nest ... We going live tonight ? Thx ... Hey to Chronic ...
Sunday if we do.
Where do you find that little magnetic meter that spins? Thanks for the video

Thanks Kevin👍👍. I'm not on call today so I'll start warm😁, for a day or two😂
How do you call this device on 13:54
It picks up the magnetic field of the solenoid. Then it spins.
Will also tell you the rotation of pump motors
From what I seen, depending on where I place it at on a solenoid it can change rotation direction and if a circulator pump is a cartridge type it doesn't work because the it cancels the magnetic flux lines.

Some people just don't take pride in their work. It only takes a few extra seconds to make something look awesome 🤷
