John Williams said George Lucas wanted the music to be part of the story, that's why the music from 1-6 are so memorable and when listening to the scores you can instantly picture the scenes they were played against. Compare that to the Sequels where the music was just background music. The scores aren't bad, however you can't picture an scenes they played against except for Rey's Theme and the brief song from Maz's place.
Same-ish situation since this really again comes from Force Awakens, but Rise of the Resistance when we see the X-Wings again for the first time slaps hard.
Yeah the sequels music feels really different. One reason, imo, was the material was severely lacking and the story had a different theme(as in literary). When he did the OT and PT, he could write new leitmotifs and weave them in and out of the old ones. You’d finish the movie or leave the theater humming the leitmotifs for the rest of the day.
No, I must disagree. The OST was still phenomenal in episodes 7-9. The reason you are struggling to remember anything from them is because the movies are just that awful. Episodes 3-6 plus the Darth Maul moments were great all around. I can't recall anything else from the episodes 1-2 from the music alone because they were just bad movies too.
@@НеАнтон-ы2э I am so glad you linked references to these debunkings. Also good to know that apparently this video was wrong, and Star Wars received no major edits after George's first draft.

Well, with Megaflopolis now a multi-million dollar "success" (lmao), I guess poor George is probably ashamed of what he achieved over 1977-2005. Nothing can compare to the screenwriting, plot, and performances in Megaflopolis. 🙄

Stephen Spielberg was the only one at the screening who liked it. Afterwards he introduced George to John Williams and the rest is history.
No wonder George later asked him to work on Indiana Jones
