My mom bought me a Holiday Barbie every year since 1990. She passed away in 2008 sadly, but I buy them for myself every year now. ❤ Thank you for this video!
@@maidelymarquez1138 OMG yes, I absolutely love this idea! Maybe Mia could pick a couple of her favourite dresses from these Barbies, and then post a video every few months showing us how she went about trying to recreate one of the dresses she chose?
I’m so surprised they didn’t do a pink dress holiday Barbie this year considering the Barbie Movie’s huge success! They could have even used Margot Robbie’s face mold again and made her super cute like in the movie. ❤
Mia, I am a Barbie collector, even have channel based on it and can tell you that only 50% of Barbie collectors will "hate" you for opening the boxes of the Barbies. I love unboxing most of my dolls! I have 1 doll I haven’t opened and its a Barbie as the Sugar Plum princess doll and the only reason why I haven’t is because everyone told me not to but I want to swoosh the poofy skirt SO BAD
I open most of my dolls, aside from my two holiday barbies and my special disney Kida doll, she's just too important! For the rest of my collection I love to have them open and pose them and change their looks, it's part of the fun of having a collection!
Damn, crazy how we have completely different styles 😂 Sometimes I'd be like: Oh I liked the previous ones way more than Mia did, but this one I don't like so much; and then you'd say: I LOVE this one!
Totally, my style is completely different from Mia's. I guess my favorites were in tier B. I think probably all the people commenting here, we have similar at style.

They started coming out when people began hoarding them, because they thought they would be worth thousands. Anyone asking those prices are nuts and even nuttier are the people paying anything over $20 to $50 bucks for them. I also think opening Barbies is a must, I mean how can you enjoy them without touching them.

I didn’t realize Barbie’s facial features changed. This was a fun video! I had an original 1959 Barbie which was played with for years and passed on to my daughter. Was disappointed in 2023 Barbie. I love opening my barbies (very carefully, not cutting anything) and then I put them back in the box just how they came 😂 maybe I’m crazy
No, absolutely not. Holiday Barbie particularly do not hold worth. You have to have museum like storage conditions anyway to keep them pristine. The rubber bands often disintegrate over time in the older doll' hair and other issues happen.
@@jenniferirvin8801 that’s what happens if you leave them in the box. And happens to all older Barbie dolls, not only to holiday Barbies. Any Barbie that has rubber bands will have that faith. Sorry but I do not agree, there are no rules to collecting apart from the ones you put yourself.

It brought back childhood memories, and I remember looking at that picture so many times, dreaming of having that doll. Life was more simple back then 😂
I think they were trying to make the dresses more contemporary in style, but honestly, it’s holiday Barbie, if there’s any time to go extra with Barbie, it’s Holiday Barbie. Give us all the ruffles, sparkles, fur trim, capes, stoles, and impractical accessories you can fit in one box. Holiday Barbie out to be every little girl’s poufy dress dream.

I have the 1993 Barbie! My mom got it for me for my birthday one year because ‘93 is my birth year! I honestly hadn’t paid much attention to the other years so this was such a fun video!!
Aw, I'm an '81 baby, and I had all of the 1988-1996 holiday barbies - and my absolute favourite (the one that went in my keepsake box) is the 1991, green velvet barbie with the jewelled bodice and the little bag. She just had such a softness to her face with the green mascara, and the feel of the dress and her hair was gorgeous. I LOVE that barbie! Thank you for this blast from the past!! xo
I totally agree about the green velvet Barbie being the most beautiful one something about her just screams to me luxurious Christmas party in a cabin with a fireplace in the mountains hahahaha
I'm an '80 baby. I agree with you, but I'll never forget that bright pink 1990 dress. At 10 years old with Madonna hitting hard with Vogue? The bright pink poofy sparkly dress was my favorite.
I was born in 1994 and my grandma Shirley bought me a special edition Barbie every Christmas and my birthday until she passed when I was just 6 years old. Those Barbie’s are still in their packages and will be one of my most treasured items ❤ this video actually made me so emotional thinking of my wonderful grandma ❤️
Thoroughly enjoyed the Barbie retrospective. Barbie is always pretty, but having a new gown and makeup designer every year (they could even make it a contest and vote online) might add more excitement and festivity.
I love that there is a variety because for me I want the red, green, gold, or silver dress for holiday barbie the pink feels reserved for the other seasons of the year!!
I used to obsessively read the FAO Shwartz holiday catalog to see the new barbies and deaigns. I love this kind of video. The 1990's Barbie's face are so pure and pretty to me.
The 2006 Barbie is really making me think of a Russian style. It's reminding me of Snegurochka (Ded Moroz's granddaughter who helps him distribute the gifts on New Years, not Christmas... she was my absolute favorite growing up!) Edit: for those of whom do not know - Ded Moroz directly translates to Grandfather Frost and he's the Russian version of Santa, except for he does New Years, which is when most Russians give gifts. We actually give our kids gifts on both Christmas and New Years and when they started school, they asked their friends what they got for New Years and were shocked to learn that Americans don't do that, lol.
@@Janna_965 Not just that, but that braid, too! Growing up, I had an absolutely gorgeous kokoshnik with a lovely blue, red, and gold sarafan that I wore on New Years. The only thing is, I always had really thin hair that I couldn't put into a braid to complete the look. I miss having those sorts of clothes! Kokoshniki should really come back into style, lol. I'd totally wear one again now if I had one.
This was a blast from the past, oh my gosh!! I always loved looking at the holiday Barbies with my sisters and it’s so fun to see how they’ve changed over the years! As always, thank you Mia for taking us along for the ride!! ✨
I remember having and playing with the first three holiday Barbies (1988-1990) and that i especially adored the white dress on the 1989 doll. seeing it again just brought such fuzzy nostalgia feelings!
When I was 20, I lost my lifetime collection of barbies (starting with 93 or 94, I think) when I lost my home and everything I owned, it brought a tear to my eye to see some of my favorite dolls again, thank you Mia.
I'd be devastated if I lost my Barbie's, I'm 42 and have had some scince childhood, I'm sorry U lost ur old friends, maybe start again? There's some really cool dolls around now, I'm loving Barbie extra🩷
I loved the 1996 fur Russian Barbie! It looks very neat. I love it. Also like 1989 white fur red hair accessory one, the pink 1990 one & 1994 gold and fur one - she's over the top but something about it is neat. Honestly 1999 onwards everything is ok. I feel they can explore more colors and styles other than red, green and white.
This was SO nostalgic! I had 1998 and my grandma made me keep her in the box, and I used to stare at her and admire how beautiful she was. This was such a fun throw back, thank you Mia 🥹
coming into the later barbies and being "Micarah Tewers did it better" and hoping she'll do 2023 because she's been begging for some shoulder coverage for the Holiday Barbies.
It’s ok to be bias for the Barbies you owned. I’ve seen other videos rank the 1991 Barbie low, complaining that she’s plain. But she was the only Holiday Barbie I’ve ever owned, and I LOVED her and her green velvet dress. She will forever be in my ‘S’ tier. Thanks for ranking her in A!
I have been a silent watcher for years and I absolutely love all your videos thank you Mia for being my fresh air ❤ I have an idea I think you should design your own holiday barbie gown and take us through the process.
i love seeing you branch out to different video ideas, but still keeping your girly touch. its what i love about your videos, thanks for all that you do!!
MIA! PLEASE pick one of your favorite Holiday dresses (the 2009 or 1990 would be SO fun) and try to recreate it for yourself to wear!! It would be a long process I’m sure but maybe a fun little series or something - 2 or 3 videos making it come together and then a final reveal! Ugh that would be SO GOOD.
One of my very favorite things about December is Advent Calendars. We NEED some advent calendar videos! Preferably with Mama Maples (because she gets so excited no matter what comes out). It doesn't matter if they are makeup, Swarovski, ornaments, etc.
i've recently moved here where i live (in brazil) and things have been pretty wrought, but your videos always make me feel better! thank you, mia, for being such a unique and kind person
I literally love you. You’re actually genuine and have stayed genuine which is so rare to see. I love the Canadian accent too. I’m from Minnesota so mine is similar lol😂❤
What a fun video! I remember when the first Holiday Barbie came out and I was secretly annoyed because I had just turned 14 and told my mom I was too old for Barbies. 😁 What was I thinking?! Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I remember so many of these. 😊
i still can't get over how great your hair looks! it was cute before, but it's so sleek now which really suits you. also you KILLED IT with the sweater vest outfit. it made me want a sweater vest.
This was really fun! I was born in 92 and spent every childhood Christmas staring longingly at the Holiday Barbies on the shelf but never owning one. We grew up really poor so we didn’t really get gifts. This kind of felt like wish fulfillment for me to check all the Barbies out up close and personally! Thank you! My favorites are the same as your favorites Mia!
Hey, new Barbie collector here, and I’d just like to say all collecting is valid! Some collectors always unbox, some never do. Some unbox carefully to keep the box for displaying the doll. some use their unboxed dolls for creating scenes and photography…. You do you!
I would somewhat agree with this. I will warn though, I have the 1991 Barbie and I took her out of the box. I'm not sure why but her beautiful green dress turned brown. But maybe it was sun damage and would have done that anyway? I've never opened another collectible Barbie I've owned after that.
I have gotten a holiday Barbie for Christmas every year from my Grandpa since they first started coming out. A few got ruined by flooding but I still have most of them. It’s one gift I look forward to every holiday ❤️
It was so neat to see the evolution of the holiday barbies. I'd love to see them collab with designers again cause they fr should be so pretty and over the top. Be the drama.
You should look up some of the other Bob Mackie Barbies. They are absolutely stunning. His design style is over the top but beautiful. He has frequently styled for Cher, including some of her more risque outfits. I could NEVER afford (or fit into) anything he made but I love to look at his styles. His styles, including his styles for Barbie, are basically artwork.
I whist feel like it’d be great to see Mia dress up as her holiday barbies, would be a fun touch. I love watching her reviews and everything, so playing dress up could be a thing.
I never had the Holiday Barbies, but I've had a few other fun ones, even as an adult. The ONLY Holiday Barbie I remember though is that 2006 Bob Mackie one. I think it was the tree-style embroidery that clinched that one in my mind.
I love Barbie. This was so much fun! The red head 2022 was a Walmart exclusive and caused a crazy in the doll collecting community because she has a face mold collector's adore .
I had the Y2K Barbie (the gold one) as a kid and I loved it so much! But tbh the fur around her neck didn't want to stay velcroed on and the big snowflakes on her skirt bent super easily. But with her sleek platinum blonde hair and the deep burgundy lip? She's s-tier for me. It apparently wasn't "fair" to my friends that my doll had a crown so I cut the threads holding it on, but I immediately regretted taking it and put it back on with scotch tape (no one will notice, right?)
Time to go re-watch Michara Tewers make Holiday Barbie dresses! XD I do wonder what year she started doing that, guess it's time to find out.. :P (update: Looks like she started in 2018, but skipped 2019)
Am I not the one being "WOWED" in every Barbie that Mia shows? I'm like how would the next Barbie's dress looks like. And 😮😮. Yes, the last Barbies' costumes are less interesting but still WOW. I know that it is hard to pull and think outside the box of new ideas so, still WOW in every costume.👏👏
I found my 1991 Holiday Barbie in a box at my mom's. Of course, she was out of the box and her dress turned brown, but I was so excited to find her none the less.
Mia, you should do makeovers of yourself as your favourite holiday Barbies!

I agree with your rating system, they are special edition holiday barbies...they need to have the WOW factor like the early ones did!
Hello! I also had a grandma Shirley, and she always bought me dolls! I’m missing her too. 🥺🩷 your comment made me think of her. Happy Holidays!
Now I want to do my own tiered list of this. It would look way different than yours haha. This was SUPER fun to watch.
Aw Mia you’re a breath of fresh air , so genuine, kind and beautiful. I’ve loved watching your videos for the last 5/6 years now ❤️xxx
Oh wow thank you so much for being here
@@MiaMaples aww you’re more than welcome ! Thank you for replying 🙌🏻💕
The 2006 Barbie is really making me think of a Russian style. It's reminding me of Snegurochka (Ded Moroz's granddaughter who helps him distribute the gifts on New Years, not Christmas... she was my absolute favorite growing up!)
Edit: for those of whom do not know - Ded Moroz directly translates to Grandfather Frost and he's the Russian version of Santa, except for he does New Years, which is when most Russians give gifts. We actually give our kids gifts on both Christmas and New Years and when they started school, they asked their friends what they got for New Years and were shocked to learn that Americans don't do that, lol.
Yeeeah, she does. I think it's because of the Kokoshnik style tiara
@@olgs37omg I loooove kokoshnikis. I have this Barbie and I just adore it
I am a doll collector, and though I don't collect Barbies I am very appreciative of her. I love your videos and I'm so glad you made a video on dolls
I enjoyed this video sooooo much Mia 🤩 Thank you for doing this, it brought me so much joy 🥺❤️
Same. They're the ones I definitely remember having before aging out of Barbie (pre-teen me was too good for dolls.)
When I was 20, I lost my lifetime collection of barbies (starting with 93 or 94, I think) when I lost my home and everything I owned, it brought a tear to my eye to see some of my favorite dolls again, thank you Mia.
So sorry to hear that 😔
It's okay, I miss all of them but sometimes life is good, sometimes life is bad, we've gotta keep living and going either way :) @@izzaumbrin1565
Ahhh yessss I was thinking abt her as soon as I saw this!!
I love seeing how the dolls changed with the fashion from the year!
I have been a silent watcher for years and I absolutely love all your videos thank you Mia for being my fresh air ❤
I have an idea I think you should design your own holiday barbie gown and take us through the process.
i love seeing you branch out to different video ideas, but still keeping your girly touch. its what i love about your videos, thanks for all that you do!!
Thank you, I hope your move becomes easier for you
Mia you have a beautiful soul inside and out. You are one of my comfort TH-camr. I love your content so much.
I'm so jealous! I love Barbies. I have a few holiday Barbies. They made Holiday Barbies into other things like, ornaments etc.
The candy cane Barbie dress was stunning
Justice for candy cane dress
Yes! I loved it also!
I would like to have that as a tree ornament.
I’m not a fan of big bows on dresses to 80s for my taste.
You do you!
Yes!!
I would somewhat agree with this. I will warn though, I have the 1991 Barbie and I took her out of the box. I'm not sure why but her beautiful green dress turned brown. But maybe it was sun damage and would have done that anyway? I've never opened another collectible Barbie I've owned after that.
Of course the barbie of the year I was born into was the first without a big “with her teeth” smile, she’s so real for that, and she served 🖤
Mia is seriously the most wholesome person out there💕
I have gotten a holiday Barbie for Christmas every year from my Grandpa since they first started coming out. A few got ruined by flooding but I still have most of them. It’s one gift I look forward to every holiday ❤️
I had the 2014 barbie OMG- I loved her smmmmm - this video is giving childhood nostalgia and I AM HERE for it
I was born in 1988, so it was really fun seeing my lifetime in Holiday Barbie’s
Me too! :D
Me too!
Same!!!
I am so excited for this video, but I can't help but thinking about Micarah making the holiday barbie dresses hehe
i'm loving what christmas does doing to mia....
we score....
It was so neat to see the evolution of the holiday barbies. I'd love to see them collab with designers again cause they fr should be so pretty and over the top. Be the drama.
You NEED to create a holiday barbie dress and what you think is S Tier!!
Mia always makes my day so much better! 💕
Mia needs to create her very own turtle neck Holiday Barbie design 🤷🏻♀️
I whist feel like it’d be great to see Mia dress up as her holiday barbies, would be a fun touch. I love watching her reviews and everything, so playing dress up could be a thing.
OMG i gasped when i saw the 1995 barbie because i used to have one when i was little. she was one of my favorite barbie’s i wish i still had her
The fact that you put most of my favorites in the lowest tier :') I loved the 2001 version, it's so pretty!
I love the 2001 too, she is gorgeous :)
Turns out the thing I needed today was to see Mia review Holiday Barbies.
Thanks for repping Canada as the nicest person like ever 🍁
aw ur so sweet!!!
Mia, you should make your favorite Holiday Barbie dress! And give yourself a Holiday Barbie makeover! ❤
I totally agree with your criticisms! Please do all of the Bob Mackie Barbie collections!!!
Mia:"this Barbie is so special and beautiful"
Also Mia: puts it in c tier 😅😅
LITERALLY 😂
I never had the Holiday Barbies, but I've had a few other fun ones, even as an adult. The ONLY Holiday Barbie I remember though is that 2006 Bob Mackie one. I think it was the tree-style embroidery that clinched that one in my mind.
The fact that I don’t like Barbies but was very interested to see each one they had for each year. What are you turning me into MIA!? lol
I love Barbie. This was so much fun! The red head 2022 was a Walmart exclusive and caused a crazy in the doll collecting community because she has a face mold collector's adore .
Omg yes! 2009 deserve the S tier~ bcuz its one of my fav too
Mia is so nice because half of these Barbies looked to me like they were wearing hotel lobby curtains 😂
You are living my childhood fantasy!! I asked for Holiday Barbie every year but I never got one because they were so expensive!
WE can live this dream together!!
OMG! i’ve always wanted that 2003 doll but for some reason it’s always been so expensive! it’s so beautiful
One of my favorite videos you have done!! Let's see you dress up as Barbie in big fabulous gowns and wigs!!!
Victorian style home decor was very hot in the mid-90’s. It’s funny how Barbie reflected the trends of the times. ❤
We love Mia in her doll era
Time to go re-watch Michara Tewers make Holiday Barbie dresses! XD I do wonder what year she started doing that, guess it's time to find out.. :P (update: Looks like she started in 2018, but skipped 2019)
Girl all the holiday Barbie’s looks beautiful even the 2023 one is pretty so don’t start hating on them differently the 2023 holiday Barbie doll one
This brown sweather suits you so well! Thank you for such a nice video :)
1988 was a really good year: it's the year my daughter was born 😊
Loved those looks from thredup!
Am I not the one being "WOWED" in every Barbie that Mia shows? I'm like how would the next Barbie's dress looks like. And 😮😮. Yes, the last Barbies' costumes are less interesting but still WOW. I know that it is hard to pull and think outside the box of new ideas so, still WOW in every costume.👏👏
mia is basically a real life barbie
I found my 1991 Holiday Barbie in a box at my mom's. Of course, she was out of the box and her dress turned brown, but I was so excited to find her none the less.
2018 is my favorite of the red dresses! those ruffles???? BEAUTIFUL
