Merle Haggard is one of my greatest heroes if not the best of all time around country music. My list goes from number 1, Jesus Christ, number 2, Merle Haggard. Because with out God, there wouldn't be Merle and there wouldn't be us to be here to enjoy Merle singing. So I thank God for giving us Merle Haggard in our generation. Rest in Peace my friend, hope to see you in Heaven someday soon.
I went to see Merle at the Fillmore in San Francisco. I didn't have a ticket so I waited about 6 hours before show time . 1995 Sat out side on a cold and rainy San Francisco day. 2 hours later his 2 buses show up and sits there idling. I brought my "Sing me back home book with me, about an hour later this nice elderly lady ask me if I wanted to come on the bus so Merle could sign my book. I went on the bus, and was invited in where Merle, the boy and Bonnie Owens were sitting around going over the play list, smoking tons cigarettes, and singing old songs. I got to sit around a play some fiddle, and some guitars with him and the boys, total great time. After that ended Merle slipped me 2 tickets, and told me to keep my mouth shut. Great show!
Merle will ALWAYS BE my favorite musical artist of ALL TIME!! And that statement is coming from an old man with the MOST diverse taste in music I've ever known! I mean...my favorites range from ...ACDC to Dean Martin!! But the Hag is THEE MAN!!!

What a great singer, Song writer and wonderful man. Merle Haggard. Love the voice, the songs and the story and feeling he puts into every song. From struggling youth, to getting back on track, fighting every bad moment, to come out as one of the greatest, finest singers of all time.
He was always over of my favorite singers. And his sons are just as good. I miss the old country. They don't make them like him and Johnny Cash. Willie George and Loretta Lynn. They need to bring back the old time singing. Stop the new country.

Merle Haggard is one HELLVA MUSICIAN. Not only does he sing songs he wrote he is very tallented in more than the guitar. He plays violin Harmonica and can imitate other great singers. He is a once in a life time and he really is a ledgen. RIP MEREL
