- Arches allowed people to build bigger, span farther, and reach higher than ever before, but they also represent nearly a dozen different architectural styles. Hidden in the brick work are clues you can spot, telling you “who was here” without ever needing to read a plaque.
Here are the 6 most common types of arches that you’ll find in your travels, and what they tell you.
I know some channels who will stretch out this information into hours, but this byte sized informational video is fantastic! Thanks
This was awesome. I'm about to start designing and building a drystone catenary arch sculpture (12" tall, granite) and I always like to understand the history behind any new venture. Appreciate it.

Wait, is the rounded arch icon the arch of Augusto in Rimini?
Thanks for the valuable information. There is one correction though: the origin of pointed arches is from Sumer Mesopotamia (ancient Iraq). Islamic civilization introduced the Sumerian pointed arches to Europe.
No just no. Pointed arches are an entirely Islamic invention ...
@@haideraliibnakhlaq8823 No, they aren't. Pointed arches were created by Byzantine engineers and architects, who themselves built upon older Greco-Roman tradition... Muslims merely adopted their technique
I clicked for the terrible title.😄
(I loved it)
Can you write the script at bottom it would be easier to note down
👍🏼

Arches are electro magnets 🧲
wow
Pointed arches are not invented in Islamic empire, it was invented way before in Persia,Russia
Roman and Romanesque architecture is not the same. And it's nonsense to say that Romanesque arches are not christian. Really - Romanesque arches are even more christian than Gothic arches.
The gothic arch appeard in Persia befor Islam🤦🏻♂️
Unfortunately not they are no where to be found in those civilisations simply claims to downplay the Islamic role
wheres the Tartarian arch?oh yous call it the roman arch?
