It was a set up, intended to be, essentially, a funny skit. Something that would, intentionally, amuse other gamers. We'd all known more lowkey versions of Leroy, so we could all identify with what happened. So many people think that it was real (What happened really did happen, but the players that weere part of that raid knew it was a set-up not an actual raid), and not a stunt video. Just like the Aliens in this video, people thought the human attack was one thing, when in reality it was another.
