When you think about how sugarcane was harvested back in the olden days, with swarms of men wielding machetes, and often those men were slaves, it makes you appreciate machines like these.

This is the case in India in 2021. We have very tiny farmlands where such machines can't go and are not affordable.

When the sugarcane is burnt, only the cut stalks go into the wagon hopper. Thus only the stalk goes to the sugar mill. But with no burn, all that leafy debris, sans only some of the green, goes along with the cut stalks to the sugar mill, thus diluting the sugar product.

Without the burn - and the resultant air pollution I remember calling 'Burdekin Snow' back home - all those top-leaves are available to pre-fertilise the soil for the next crop. Please note that there is a cutting-attachment on the top of the arm aimed at removing most of these. Also, you'll see a spray of loose vegetation out the rear that has been cut from the cane stalks.

These machines have cleaning organs that allow a good harvest of green sugar cane without straw, in the video two things can be seen, one, apparently the fans are not well regulated so that a correct separation of the stalks and leaves is not made . The other thing is that an impurity extractor must be placed in the discharge conveyor, this machine does not have it, this makes it easier for the wagon not only to go the stems

Hi Aerial Ag, I hope you are well. I am an independent filmmaker currently working on a documentary about sugarcane harvesting in the Glades. I am reaching out because I would love to use some of this footage as B-ROLL in the finished film. If possible, could you please provide an e-mail address that I could use to send a release form over to you? Thank you so much for your patience and time!

Man, its like watching a ballet!
Just watched another cane harvesting video - reportedly from Louisiana - and found it so outside of my own experience that I had to do a search for how others in the area did it. This video looks just how we do it in the Burdekin, with a single harvester doing the cutting, separating and delivery to the cages. All you need is a narrow-gauge cane-train taking the results to the refinery for me to think I'm back home again.

That cane that's being cut here is hauled to the sugar mill where it is refined into raw sugar and molasses. Check out this link to see the whole process: th-cam.com/video/Ipwkxqq4siI/w-d-xo.html

@@AerialAg last Year when I was at my grandparents house a local sugarcane farm Loreauville Harvesting Company was Harvesting our sugarcane with M.A Patout and Son's Patout Equipment company so I saw 5 Sugarcane Harvesters at Once . It was pretty neat how normally I see 1 or 2 Sugarcane Harvesters running but I saw 5 most of them were John deeres while Loreauville Harvesting Company has a CASE IH sugarcane Harvester with some John Deere Tractors . You should have been there to film it , it was amazing how a sugar mill helps a Sugarcane Farmer by sending Mill employees with cane trucks , carts tractors , and Harvesters.

Turning around takes like half a minute if you are very slow. I really dont get how this would affect the efficency, especially as they have plenty of space to turn around.
