Really cool piece of kit, I have the trousers as well! I agree fully with your fitting comment, I bought a size up as well!
thanks man, i actually think im going to have to go 2 sizes up!! been trying this one, its to small
They're a great alternative to your normal outdoors puffer jackets and certainly cheaper. Got one unissued for £35 from my local Army and Navy stores, love it.
Great stuff
Great review - subbed
Cheers paul
Looks nice Wooly 👍👌🙂
Cheers buddy
Well....Wooly here,, guys
Brilliant pal👍😉🌲
Cheers buddy
Thanks dude !
No problem
During my time in the army we only got issued what was affectionately called the Japanese fighting jacket and it was pants lol every soldier bought with their own money either a softie jacket or a buffalo shirt. Good to see the kind of stuff they get issued these days
These aren't a patch on the buffalo or civilian softie
These new ones look the part, but aren’t a scratch on buffalo/softies. My green buffalo is still ticking on from 1997, my PCS ‘buffalo’ fell apart on one 3 month trip away.
Agreed, I got rid of mine fairly quick
There better but still shit all the lads still buy there own softies
Cheers curt
Nice 👍👌
Good afternoon Wooly , Cooper n Bruno 💕
Good morning from Ireland
@@RedBranchBushcraft ; Thank you Woolyb
Fits U perfect!
I felt it was a bit small
Nice.😆 👌👌👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Wooly.
Just bought one of these in a Large.I’m a 42” chest,5’8” and around 12 stone . A Large will be fine for you.Longer is better, too.
Great and warm.
Cheers.👍🏾
I was thinking this yesterday, must size up, cheers buddy
I’m 5’8 and 12 stone but a 40 chest , do u think large would be ok or too big?
I'd be looking at a large
@@RedBranchBushcraft cheers - now to find one 👍
Keep an eye out on eBay or check go army, there's a discount code in the description
Hi Wooly, a quick note on sizing, I am 5' 10" and 95 k, I already had a lightweight smock in 180 100 large, which was very snug, and best worn next to the skin, so I went for a 200 120 xxlarge thinking it would be roomy, it is actually more housey, it feels enormous, I think I could have gone for an xlarge or maybe even a large.
These seem to be random enough in sizing , I need a large, never in my life have I worn a large ! Lol
You look like the twin of a gangster character that Colin Farell played in a recent film. The difference is he has a southern Irish accent you're from NI. Very nice review! I like the jacket thanks for the tip on size, that's always very helpful.👍
Cheers hunter, I'm sure Colin is always getting mistaken for me too !! Lol
@@RedBranchBushcraft I thought you were Colin Farrell! Thanks for bring good-natured about it!
Lololo
How to wash it
What the best way to wash this kit thanks maye
I just bung it in the washing machine, check the temp rating,, usually 30-40 deg , if I'm worried about affecting waterproof I use non bio
How do the new softie sets compare to the old ones? Are the new sets significantly less warm? I believe the new ones would be a better fit for me, but which set would you suggest?
The fitting are opposite to the softies , very small. I found the softies very big , as for warmth I'm not sure. I think snugpak make the original, their a decent company
Wooly, I still prefer natural fibers over nylon! And yes, I still size up so I can properly layer for winter!
That's thee way to do it, some natural fibres coming up soon
@@RedBranchBushcraft are we live tonight?
Yes man , on Wooly's World. Any topic you would like covered?
@@RedBranchBushcraft the importance of knowing your... abilities, environment, climate, gear!..ooh crap, Wooly’s world, well These topics still fit
Hi, thanks for your video. What's the filling material of this pcs jacket? Is it still softie from snugpak or some other like primaloft?
It's something else like primaloft
@@RedBranchBushcraft OK,thx for ur reply. Have a good day.
You to buddy
Can’t get enuf of these military coats. What’s your favorite one? I love the American M65. The Austrian M65 a close second
The m65 by far , I've had a few over the years , been thinking about another one , woodland como
@@RedBranchBushcraft I think you can’t have too many. I have a Medium Long Woodland Camo M65 that I don’t wear since I have the OD Green one. If you think it would fit you then If you like I would gladly send it to you to enjoy. Just lemme know how to do it. I live in the US
That's cool man, I'll have to check the sizing and get back to you
@@RedBranchBushcraft no prob.
Im 5’10. 42” chest. ML is ok for me but I have a L in OD Green and that’s my size. ML should work for you. It’s not long on me at all, lengthwise or sleeves. I feel funny wearing it here since I didn’t serve so I wear the green one
I had a green one to, they are nice ! I had a woodland camo and the tri desert camo one
Hey, I'm 6ft tall and 13 stone. Should I order the xtra large or the XXL??
I'd get xxl, these are small
Might be alright for an emergency but I prefer wool. I think a lot of the warmth generated by these items is the suffocation of plastic. The hood is just ticking a box. As for sizing; if you look at adverts for clothing where someone is modelling an item they often seem to be wearing something too small/tight for them; must be the fashion. All the survival bods say layers should have air between them so tight is WRONG. You looked more crazy with the hood up. 😂
Lol, cheers man, made me laugh. I'm with you, clothes are getting tighter and tighter, I'm constantly struggling to get stuff that fits properly
For thermal layer better slim fit rather than losse fit
Your right buddy
Looks nice ...but wy did the army that replacement? The softie is a great piece of kit...
No idea, maybe it was costing to much?
@@RedBranchBushcraft ah yes that's sounds logic...the Dutch army dit the same....they made a lookalike...same story with the Carinthia MSS...
Yes buddy , seems to be the way
What about the length of the jacket? I'm only 161cm tall and 90-95cm chest so I don't know if I should take a S, M or L?
This is a medium and it's nearly to short onn me, I'm 5 foot 7 and 38 inch chest , it would probably be ok on you
@@RedBranchBushcraft ok, thanks wooly!
No problem buddy
You need a s. I have medium, I’m 5”7. S would fit you pretty nice, maybe the sleeves are a bit long. But it’s designed to be a bit longer. But do get yourself a smock, if you live in a colder area.
@@aleksandrrakowski4953 You mean the sleeves on a S would still be a bit long? I have the S2000 DPM jacket (the one without the hood) and a regular S95 barracks shirt both size 88/160 and they fit me pretty spot on, both qua length and width. I just hope the S thermal jacket won't be too narrow around the chest if I were to pick the S
I got one of these and 2 american marshmallow items as american say I do prefer the american item
What's the American one?
USGI/us air force ECWCS Primaloft Level 7 Jacket Grey
Nice!! I'm off to google
@@RedBranchBushcraft think I paid £80 for large for my son and I got the xl was I wee bit more at around £140 not sure how much they are now
Do you work for goarmy ?
Lol, no but I buy a fair bit from them they do send me stuff from time to time
177 cm and 105 on chest, what size i need ?
I'm not sure man, you can check the sizes online, their all in CMS , so your around a 40 inch chest? I'd say xl ish
@@RedBranchBushcraft
Great jacket and review! I'm 5.9 ft, 40 chest and 165 lbs. What size XL or L is best? Thx
I'd try XL, I'll need a bigger one
Diary of a madman.
Lol
Good doctor still should be able to help you.
