Great info! Thank you so much for this. I have a tiny home studio and have been trying to figure out how to not overwork my computer system drive. Do you find any latency issues when it's pulling stuff off of a external SSD/HD vs your computer?
This is really good advice. Having a backup drive is critical. I’ve had a few hard drive failures, but never lost anything critical thanks to the backups.
hey i just needed to say, an HDD has enough speed for multitrack recording. and also it's life lasts way longer compared to the SSD, so in my opinion it's a better option.
How do you partition your os drive? I have a computer with 3 4-tb ssds. How do I partition these drives for music, video, and photography? Is each partition a separate letter drive? I.e. c drive 100gb for os partition. Second partition d drive for daw/software. Second hard drive for libraries (does it need to be partitioned?), third side for film and video. Help please!!!
Excellent information. Thank you for that!
Thank you very much! I wanted to make sure I was on the right track.
I use Carbon Copy Cloner to automatically back up sessions etc to the relevant drives. recommended by our studio!
That’s smart, thanks for the tip 👍🏽

You’re welcome! Will do, lots more on the way
Thank you very much for this informative video, I’ve now invested in multiple drives to improve my workflow!

Indeed! Drive failures def happen, good to be prepared
Go Josh!!!

Yep it’s also a good and reliable drive for tracking 👍🏽
Please make a video on Nas drives n new AI cloud backup systems n security risks.. please n thx 🙏🏾

I actually don’t partition my drives, Is there an advantage to it? Seems like you’re well organized
Pls kindly make a video on file management inside Daw as well as on Project file organisation tips .. ❤.. Thank you
for sure, will do! I like organizing files
Comment for the algorithm. Hopefully it gets its stuff together and starts pushing your stuff soon.
cheers! Algorithm has been kind so far
Nice! Out of curiosity, when you work, do you have both libraries and session drives plugged in? (if yes, what type of connection do you use?)
Usually, yes I have all the drives plugged in. I have one of those OWC hubs which had a lot of connections for drives of all sorts
Great vid! What cloud backup software do you use?
Honestly i don’t use a cloud system, i just backup to many drives.
Ok, thanks
I understand about external/cloud backups. How about mirrored nas?
NAS also a good idea
🙏🏼
Cheers
