I agree I used to only romance books (I still love this genre and it’s still one of my favorites), but then I started to get into a meh stage where I would not be excited to read romance. That’s when I started to branch out with nonfiction, horror, or even fiction where romance wasn't the main plot and I have never read as many books five star reads

If you need book recommendations for 2023 I have some of my favorite books: Three Dark Crowns Series by Kendare Blake (YA/romance/fantasy), The One by John Marrs (thriller/realistic fiction/romance), These Violent Delights duology by Chloe Gong (romance), and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (romance). My best friends favorite book is Lovely War by Julie Berry and I am almost finished with it, but I'm really enjoying it. Normally I would not go for historical fiction books, but this has romance laced through and is pretty good! Excited to see your future videos! :)

Ahhh highly suggest “Love Kills” series by Brianna Jean there is so much found family!! Deep subjects, twin flame romance!! Just it’s so good! There are 3 books out now abt one couple and the friends are going to get their own books in the future.
I adore Swear on This Life by Renee Carlino, it also has a story within a story. It should be right up your alley! BWWS by her was enjoyable but I love the other one more. I also recommend Drive by Kate Stewart. It was a fave of 2018, haven't read anything else by her yet, but just got the sequel Reverse. Even if you didn't like one story by her, I think her writing is beautiful. And my fave Morgan Matson books are Amy and Roger's Epic Detour & Since You've Been Gone. Amy & Roger probably a bit more cause of travel and multimedia travel logs, sketches, pictures.

i wish there were more academic rivals to lovers books it’s so hard to find good ones 😭. i read not here to be liked which is kind of academic rivals to lovers but it was still good
steph some recs for the new year! these are some mystery and fantasy recs with romance because i think new genre’s definitely helped me get out of my slump so if you ever need that xx - a very large expanse of sea (a romance but it’s super interesting and follows rlly important topics) - the inheritance games series (amazing like so fast paced and easy to understand but entertaining, a love triangle too) - a good girls guide to murder (ya murder mystery set in england, super interesting plot and such a cute romance subplot) - six of crows (i recommend reading shadow and bone before for a non fantasy reader to get the world building but a lot of ppl didn’t and still enjoyed it. still have never seen found family this great. season 2 of the show is coming out soon too!) - the cruel prince (after reading this you will never find an enemies to lovers that compares trust me. the romance is barely a subplot in book 1 but develops over the series and the main character is morally gray, super interesting world)
Hey Steph! I too found the elements series by Brittany c cherry cringy...but trust me the last book is actually good. That's the only good one in the series...
I hope this doesn’t come across mean but rather encouraging. I am and have been a voracious reader for so long, to the point I want to start a consulting service to help others find what they love. I think your reading has matured and I think you would enjoy books that aren’t the booktok popular books. I think even tho fiction is your thing, you have reached a point where nonfiction memoirs I could see you loving. I also think you’d like some language accessible classics. The booktoks are becoming more like reality tv for you and not hitting the same.

- a very large expanse of sea (a romance but it’s super interesting and follows rlly important topics)
- the inheritance games series (amazing like so fast paced and easy to understand but entertaining, a love triangle too)
- a good girls guide to murder (ya murder mystery set in england, super interesting plot and such a cute romance subplot)
- six of crows (i recommend reading shadow and bone before for a non fantasy reader to get the world building but a lot of ppl didn’t and still enjoyed it. still have never seen found family this great. season 2 of the show is coming out soon too!)
- the cruel prince (after reading this you will never find an enemies to lovers that compares trust me. the romance is barely a subplot in book 1 but develops over the series and the main character is morally gray, super interesting world)

I hope this doesn’t come across mean but rather encouraging. I am and have been a voracious reader for so long, to the point I want to start a consulting service to help others find what they love. I think your reading has matured and I think you would enjoy books that aren’t the booktok popular books. I think even tho fiction is your thing, you have reached a point where nonfiction memoirs I could see you loving. I also think you’d like some language accessible classics. The booktoks are becoming more like reality tv for you and not hitting the same.
