Absolutely the best Netflix Marvel adaptation by FAR. The dream sequences were frequent, but they served a purpose - warning him to wake up, asking him to choose to fight or "go home". I could easily watch this again.
Tony, the reason they showed the flashbacks so often is to convey to the audience that this guy has PTSD and he's a broken individual.we can't stop seeing it because FRANK CAN'T STOP EITHER
Good point, but I couldn't quite understand why they choose to show the consummation of his wedding night when he was being tortured. I mean, I get that they were trying to convey that he was using that memory as a way to mentally escape the physical trauma of the torture, but the sex scenes spliced between the scenes of him being brutally beaten was the type of combination of "sex and violence" that made me a tad uncomfortable. In my opinion.
Old comment but it's because Orange was a sadist who got off on torturing people. His facial expression was a mirror of Frank's wife's and vice-versa. It was referenced earlier in the season when Orange was talking to Russo in his study.
Jon Bernthal is a BEAST. This series exceeded all my expectations of what a Punisher series should have been. Not to mention how they addressed PTSD, and the gun law controversy in this. Not only was he struggling with his family’s murder, he was struggling with what happened while he was out on orders. (Don’t want to reveal too much) In the comics, he’s know for a high pain tolerance... but what his body went thru was insanity. All in all... It was very well executed. I love JJ, but Frank about real close to tying with her series. I’m ready to rewatch it this weekend! Lol
I liked Thomas Jane's Punisher, he was more human, and the fight scene in the apartment, was sooo good, and the hired killer with the guitar and sung in the diner!!! Loved that song!!! How he fake tortured the guy with the freezer pop was funny! I loved Jon's take as well the violence was off the charts but, it was so awesome!!!! Frank Castle is a Monster out here in these streets!!!! My favorite villains were in Luke Cage, when you trying to save the city and you find out your childhood friend who is also your half brother is behind the drama and he wants to kill you!!!!! Maneeeeeee! The struggle is for real!!!!!

Punisher is the best raw action, DareDevil is best fight sequence and villain with Fisk, Luke Cage had the best feel (probably cultural)...Jessica Jones Killgrave was most menacing villain, but not the best as he is gone...Iron Fist has a lot to do to make up for their lead being weak in both acting, believability, and fighting choreography

I agree. I think this is the best Netflix marvel show. Daredevil would be one but Kingpin and Karen Page get on my nerves. Karen page wasn’t in as many episodes of the punisher so it was a little easier to tune her out. Other wise Luke Cage would be the second best. Jessica Jones third. This is late as hell, but I dont' give a damn, John Bernthal is hands down the best Punisher I've seen. Equal to the Joker and Ledger. Sometimes a role is just made for you and damnit to hell Bernthal murder this role like the Punisher was merkin' the baddies in the show. He matched the intensity, toughness and overall grit of the character. FanDAMNtastic.
I loved Luke Cage, Daredevil....but The Punisher is a different level of badass! It's both a war show and deals with army vets and PTSD, family tragedy and power of friendships.

They had to do the flashbacks to show you his PTSD. That's why they focused on that group for recovering vets. They wanted to show the audience how he was feeling at that very exact moment that determined his next action. To not make his next violent act not seem like just a regular act of violence by him spazzing out for no reason. Personally the flashbacks really set the tone and premise of each ep for me personally. Plus my favorite villain was Cottonmouth out of all the Netflix series. It was sad to see him go. He had the best build up story.

I think all in all, Jessica Jones is the best Netflix marvel series thus far. A lot of that has to do with Killgrave being so great as a villain. But Jessica is also great as an anti hero. Usually, we think of an anti-hero as someone thats killing fools indiscriminately like the Punisher or Wolverine. But Jessica kinda opened that up a bit more. She's a booze hound, she does what she wants and goes after what she wants, but still has that human element to her. She's not a killer unless she has to be.
I say Thomas Jane was the best one John Trovolta dropped the ball, if he brought that face off charisma and attitude then the punisher in 2008 wouldn't exist, but the Guy from the last purge and played crossbones in civil war would have been perfect for the role. I may sound weird but I enjoy DC animation over the movies and these Marvel Netflix series more than the movies. Maybe the fact I'm not a "Movie" fan in general is the reason, but I feel more into the animations and live series (even D.C. Shows like Arrow) are just more entertaining than the DC and Marvel movies. Also, The Punisher is the real reason season 2 of Dare Devil was the shit. Every time you saw Frank, you knew shit was about to go down. Good video Tony!

I understand your point about characters getting on your nerves, but after watching Daredevil S3 & Punisher S2, I have to say that Daredevil is the best series including the BEST action scenes. Killmonger from Blavk Panther is the best Marvel villain that wasn’t. Bullseye is now the best Marvel series villain.

Warren Mapp Can you tell us why fam because as a whole that show let me down. Cottonmouth was on his way to being one of the Marvel Netflix best villains then he got killed off. It took a mean dip. Mike Colter is decent as Luke but he doesn't come off street smart the way the character should. Punisher is the best and most complete show to me. The drama was authentic, the emotional content, the shootouts, the brutal fight scenes and strong storyline.

Killgrave was a beast. If DareDevil, Luke Cage, Danny Rand or Frank Castle went against him. They would all lose immediately.

i like the shootings though very methodical slow pace careful shot placement instead of just spray and prey like other films with gun-fu.
