excellent explanation! however, funnily enough, TH-cam compresses audio at 128kbps. So none of us can truly hear what you're hearing x)

Yes, of course that's a factor. However you can definitely still hear the compression artifacts, despite TH-cam's AAC encoding.

Tunecore asks for 16 bit 44.1 WAV files. With that said, they end up sending those files to iTunes and all other digital stores. So does that mean I should export from Ozone as if I was mastering for iTunes, sound cloud, etc knowing that they will be compressing the file further, therefore ensure (with codec preview) that those file types won't clip when rendered after the fact or does should i set the ceiling at the max within ozone that doenst clip as a WAV file ? Hope you understand my question . Thanks

I wonder which encoder libraries Ozone actually includes; there are several modern alternatives (lame, fraunhoffer, apple, dolby aac) each with different spectral characteristics, and efficiency. Lame used to add a minimal negative gain at low bitrates cbr to minimize clipping (0.44 dB at 128 kbit); that is not the default at vbr currently. Sound cloud could really up the bitrate to modern standards.

I never knew soundcloud compressed that much

Is it a problem if you are clipping even if you can't hear it? Does it decrease the final volume of the bounced file?

Thanks for this tutorial. Does Ozone 7 only allow 16bit mixdown for mp3? Thanks.

Doesn't youtube compress to aac 192kbps? Seems a bit weird to compare the quality in this video, maybe upload the audio as flac/wav for people who would like a better listen.

Im sorry but is there any reason for SoundCloud to use mp3 instead of aac?

Hi! do you know how to get rid of the artifacts or distortion generated by the mp3 codec ?

Thanks! I wish not to use mp3 but, sometimes that's what the client wants!

Hey i noticed that my are Beats sounding better on SoundCloud than on TH-cam i got in the codec setting the mp3 192 can u give me some tipps asap (ozone)

I hope you're only using the Codec Preview to listen and not active when you're rendering? Definitely don't have it active when you're bouncing out your master. Your track will sound different on Soundcloud than TH-cam due to differences in compression and encoding. Soundcloud uses terrible mp3 encoding at 128 kbps. TH-cam at least uses mp4 AAC encoding, which is much better.
If you're thinking the exact same file sounds better on Soundcloud, then perhaps you like the sound of the extra compression noise, or possibly your song is distorting / digitally clipping on Soundcloud due to the extra amplitude of the compression noise.

Warp Academy the codec button isnt active when i render it out i only got ac the dittering button active the Settings on the codec button is mp3 and 192 is that ok for TH-cam ?

But is it **audible** clipping - or a theoretical problem only truly relevant in certain scenarios like a classical piece of piano music?

    • @warpacademy
      @warpacademy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Good question. Very audible clipping. I can't tell you how many times I've heard digitally clipped, totally distorted streaming tracks on Soundcloud due to this. Try it yourself, uploading a 0 dBFS peak file to Soundcloud and preview it.

If l export it at -1 db for soundcloud matter, yes l do that however it's not even loud, even for my dj mixes l make with ableton which consist of mastered mp3's.
I realised it's possible to upload very loud tracks on soundcloud as some people can do that but l just dont get how could u inform me about that? I'd really really appreciate that.

Thank you so much for explaining .
Well, let me ask my question this way then. So when people do mixes for radio shows for example: soundcloud.com/getterofficial/getter-diplo-and-friends-mix
Are they preparing the mix in lower db like -2 then master it like they are mastering a track? cuz this mix is way way way much louder than mixes l make via ableton. Plus, when l use ableton eq/auto filter a mastered track (0 DB) goes above 0 db this is also a weird situation for me.
I'd appreciate lf you share what you know about these.

Thanks so much man l didn't know about the resonance thing has to be zero, probably that's why my bass was fucked up so hard during transitions while l make mixtapes with ableton. Ilu
