The Architects of old knew how to create beautiful cities. After WW2 cities were designed for the masses by Architects influenced by Le Corbusier and others, whose ugly architecture was cheap and soulless, devastating the calm serenity, found in high cultural buildings; made to look up to. Poundland, McDonalds et al, with their uniformed bland, block colours; are usually indicative of poor areas.
It's a disgrace to the many fine working class/middle class people who are forced to live in the modern ghettos; of our once fine cities. Thank God, Huddersfield has retained some gems that the sunset/sunrise like to rest upon. Great video.

Just visited and the people are as lovely as this beautiful old town. The scenery is breathtakingly stunning and the cab and uber drivers are the best people you will find anywhere in the UK. Huddersfield gets a 5 star rating from me, there are a lot of very steep roads though! We didn't see a single push bike or wheelchair. Still a beautiful place ❤

Without watching the video, yes. Rough AF people, rough AF council, rough AF architecture that over shadows the lovely old buildings that stood before them.

@@BabsicalsCity Yes, i believe that too. Some people in Salford are living a much harder life than many are in Hudds. Hudds may have gone down hill abit from what it was but its not the worst place to live. I've been back on a visit a few times and it feels right to be back.

You can't have the best place and cheapest place at the same time.
Prioritise what you want before moving anywhere.
The best of the best areas can be harsh because of the cost of living.

Drove from Skelmanthorpe to the town centre today. Beautiful villages and views but the closer I got the more it seemed I had travelled 5000 miles not 5 miles. Huddersfield twined with Islamabad. Wouldn't live there for a gold pig

You visit a town in the middle of winter and from the start do not say anything about the Grade 1 listed railway station, the history of the town or even the university. I am from Stratford on Avon and spent 3 years living there back in the early 1980s. It gets cold in winter but has a great transport infrastructure allowing you to get into the country as well as the big towns and cities. It still has many great buildings unlike say Reading which were demolished in the 1960s and 1970s. Do you think it’s a bad place to live ? I would suggest you visit Luton or High Wycombe first.
