I saw Kim on the Larry King show. He quoted a film critic’s opinion on Kim : “ She has the unmistakable feeling of being “ lost “..” She considered it a great compliment. And I agree. She’s icy but vulnerable and so very gorgeous. I love Kim Novak! 💜💜
I saw a interview of Kim Novak on TCM when she was quite old, and my take away of that interview, was she never really liked Hollywood, and got the hell out of there. Was surely manipulated by Hollywood types, and after she has enough $$$ she split and never looked back.
You've masterfully captured the essence of the 1960s Hollywood era, allowing us to witness the profound transformations of these actors within the narrative. *DO YOU AGREE WITH ME*
I've always been enthralled by Kim Novak (TBH). I can't recall as many movies I have viewed of Marilyn Monroe as I have of Kim Novak. I can't reason why....!
Funny, how the narrator went on and on about her relationship with Sammy Davis Jr, but never showed any pictures of them as he was talking about them. They made short story unnecessarily long.
My best friend was in the U.S. Army & stationed at the "Presidio", in San Francisco, Ca. in 1965-1966! He said that Kim Novak lived in the area & could be seen frequenting local establishments, accompanied by
This was not a scandal. She simply fell in love with the dearly loved Sammy Davis Jr. The way he was treated was appalling. No-one would think anything of it a few years later. The vile Harry Cohen blew it up into a scandal. The threats made to Sammy were dreadful. Stop sensationalising it.
Excellent story and great actress and beauty. Her life options that she percieved and the avenues available she made the self-induced problems in the movie business and society back then. She could have been even more idolized and accomplished. Recall her real name is Marilyn.
I have hated the obscenely draconian feudal Hollywood Studio system for some time now, & after watching this documentary l am further disgusted with it. Thank God it came to a well deserved end during the '60s. Good for Kim Novak standing up to it as best as she could. In this day & age it's hard to believe that a simple inter-racial romance would be such a problem. Society has certainly progressed on these matters.
You might be disgusted at the draconian feudal Hollywood system of old, but without these big money men and their know-how, it would never have existed to begin with.
A lot of you guys forget. When you put old school content on TH-cam. There are those of us still around that know the real deal. Concerning Kim Novak. First of all. Head honcho of Columbia pictures. Harry Cohn had a thing for Marilyn Monroe. When he couldn't rope her in. He began looking for a substitute. He found Kim Novak. Made her dye her hair blond and attempted to groom her for himself as well as Hollywood. Little did he know that Kim Novak saw a performance of Sammy Davis Jr. ( She was star struck although she was a star herself). Eventually, they began a very private but powerful relationship. The only real info you shared was the ignorant and obvious bias of the time. Kim was very much in love with Sammy. Just like Marilyn Monroe (who also had a brief fling with Sammy). These women had every leading white male star after them ( Not to leave out the most powerful men in Hollywood ). None of these famous men wanted to believe. A beautiful and famous white starlet chose a black star ovet all of them. They tried every dirty trick in the book to break them up. (Although they were very private and cautious about where they used to meat). What eventually happened was this. Frank Sinatra who was a good friend of Sammy Davis Jr. warned him. He told Sammy. I'm telling you as a friend you better break this thing off with Kim Novak or things are not going to end well. Sammy Davis Jr. then paid a black woman to marry him for appearance sake. The real problems of that time was the extreme racial prejudice and the fact through thick and thin Kim Novak was truly in love with a black man. A major no no of the times.
Kim was such a beautiful lady. It's pathetic how much racism, can effect people's lives. Unfortunately, too many times in this video, the same references were repeated over & over!
There appears to be a lot of projection in this story that tends to bludgeon the viewer over the head with a narrative that cannot be necessarily proven. Surely, if Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. had such a blossoming romance and Novak was as headstrong as you continually state, then why was it so short-lived? Also, why didn't they get back together later in life when Columbia Pictures no longer had such a control over her life, or even when societal norms had changed? Let's be honest, within the old studio/contract star system, it wasn't at all surprising to hear of stories of love scandals and cover-ups that were controlled by the studio bosses who invested quite heavily in their star's portfolios. If they can make 'em, they can break 'em. That was the old studio motto, I believe. This story was nothing more than a whirlwind romance that would fizzle out regardless.
Kim Novak was beaitiful and extraordinary actress. I loved her acting and her movie Bell, Book and Candle! 🐾 Robot, you repeated to much about Kim Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. They dated, it pissed you off now move on!! ➡️
We have come a long way Sammy Davis was always picked on him, he also married a white blonde woman. But it seems like we are back to be divided again thanks to are great president. Kim Novak is still alive and looks great doesn’t look like a monster like most on them .
The constant repetition by the narrator is so obvious it is annoying. It could also be an attempt to extend this video for monetary gain via the advertisements. 👎
I was in a very fulfilling mixed race relationship. It went on for 12 years. I was white, she was black, and WE were right....for each other! In 1994 when we began, I think the stastic indicated that mixed married couples black white, Hispanic were 4% of the US population. Our relationship motto with my soulmate of 12 years, was: include us together, or see ya, BYE! She had my absolute best interests at heart. Love Conquers all !!!
I agree. It's like being brainwashed. It was just a whirlwind romance that ended. Notice how the narrator doesn't give any quotes from Sammy Davis Jr. on this forbidden love.

Bell Book and Candle always one of my faves!!!
ME TOO !

One of the most beautiful women who ever lived.
Love her, Bell Book and Candle one of my faves!!!
Wish someone would make a movie about this to highlight how far we have and have not come.

EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL LADY 🤩😊
Novak was a beauty...
I love Kim Novak but I dislike this so-called documentary, The doc. is repetitive and shallow.
I loved her movies. A nd a very pretty and sexy lady. One of my favorites. 🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
I think her breakthrough role was Vertigo. Who is Tess Novak? Lol!
I HATE these Artificial Intelligence generated productions, far too redundant

You spent too much time talking about Sammy Davis and not talking enough about Novak's later career.
Of course, Kim was tough; she's a Chicago girl, and people in our city are born hard.
A lot of you guys forget. When you put old school content on TH-cam. There are those of us still around that know the real deal. Concerning Kim Novak. First of all. Head honcho of Columbia pictures.

Harry Cohn. I wonder what was his ethnicity??? You know the porn masters.
Loved her

I CUT OFF THE STUPID COMMENTARY AND LOOKED AT THA PICTURES !
She used to date Sammy Davis Jr and wanted to marry him but forbidden as you know
I was in a very fulfilling mixed race relationship.

SHAME ON THE US ABOUT THIS SAMMY DAVIS STORY ! SHE HAS DEFINITELY LET HER IMPRINT ON ROLES (BOTH ROLES IN HITCHCOCK'S VERTIGO)
Why repeat so much.
