My friend has hiv for 5 years,44yrs .is very healthy,with absolutely not even 1 hiv symptoms as what other patients get.no fever nor sore throat no swollen gland no rashes ect.. absolutely nothing..she has ,great stamina with a viral load of 15700.is she contagious?can she spread hiv?
They would have to talk with their physician about their specific risks so I can’t make a personal comment there. I can say as a general principle that higher viral loads correspond with higher risk of transmission but exactly how much at exactly what thresholds is far from my expertise. Absolutely (pep is for after exposures, prep is for prevention prior to an exposure) known to reduce risks and every hour matters. I personally would not wait if I was exposed and would go to an emergency dept if my primary care could not see me (or wouldn’t prescribe without the appt). A cbc does not test for hiv although sometimes a cbc can show some abnormalities that prompt further testing to find what’s causing the abnormalities. Depending on what part of the cbc seems abnormal an hiv test would be considered an appropriate part of the followup. Anyone who has an abnormal cbc should be able to discuss that with the physician ordering the test to see if it means further testing is needed.

First test was after 4days then after 1months then after 3 months(window period) and then after 6month and my last test was after 23 months! And all the result comes Not-Deteced.. Believed to give a pretty reliable negative by 90days (some blood tests done in doctors offices reliable negative between 45-60days). Any positive would be a reason to do a confirmation test with a physician. Most doctors say that when in doubt, go ahead and test. Anyone with exposure of concern in the last 72 hours should speak with a physician about hiv pep which can reduce risk of transmission after exposure if started within 72 hours

You would need to discuss the case with your physician but as a general principle timing of the tests from exposure is just as important as number of tests performed. For instance this test is generally considered to be a 90 day test to rule out infection

I’m not sure I understand the question. If you are asking if a known hiv positive person (carrier) can actually have undetectable levels of hiv virus, that can happen with effective treatment. In that case a person would still technically be considered hiv positive but the risk of transmission would be extremely low because the amount of virus in their system was too low for most tests. Luckily there are some very good treatments for hiv if someone has access to a healthcare system connecting them with the right people/resources. Here in the US, that would be a physician specializing in infectious disease or even specifically in hiv treatment. A rash can be a lot of things and HIV can technically by one of them, but there is no way to know what someone has just by saying "rash". Any concerning symptoms would be best evaluated in person by that person's physician

There are many things that can cause symptoms so please discuss that with your physician and get checked out. I can state again as a general principle guidelines suggest anyone with a suspected/known exposure should get hiv testing from a medical professional if one is available and do their best to reduce risk of future exposure with barrier sexual protection and avoiding the sharing of needles if using injectable drugs. Please go talk this over with your physician

Your physician is the best one to talk to about why you may be having any symptoms. Generally if someone is trying to reduce risk of HIV transmission the most effective methods agreed on by most physicians include reducing number of sexual partners or needle sharing, using barrier protection for all sexual encounters and considering HIV Prep if you have more than average risk of exposure. 70 days is still considered in the “window” period when a person might not have developed enough signs of infection for the test to accurately show positive. The oraquicknis considered most effective at 90 days. I have often had patients concerned do a test immediately and then come back after 90 days to get a confirming negative test. While this video is a home test, most physicians recommend going to a physician because there are a number of other tests for other diseases that can pass through body fluids. I consider the blood test to be more accurate from a lab perspective and preferable as it generally comes with a physician visit to talk about future prevention methods and other indicated testing after a good discussion/physical exam. For someone who doesn’t feel they have the option to get to a physician this has been approved here in the US as another method of providing a pretty good screening test.

People who are circumcised can still contract hiv although the cdc has put out information that circumcision does decrease the risk of sexual transmission by as much as 50%. www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/newsroom/docs/factsheets/MC-for-HIV-Prevention-Fact-Sheet_508.pdf Anyone who thinks they have been infected should make sure they get appropriate testing and anyone who is in a high risk category should talk to their physician and see if they are a candidate for hiv prep (pre exposure prophylaxis). I'm a transgender women and I take PREP recommended to me by my doctor who also handles my hormone replacement therapy. According to her, me being transgender puts me at super high risk of getting hiv which is why i decided to take it

Fatigue,mouth ulcers, thrush, diarrhea, dizziness, confusion, sore throat, weight loss etc...But all my 4generation test have been negative. I have also done RNA PCR, NAAT the came back not detected. Can I be HIV positive but don't have any antibodies? Could the late PEP have affected the development of antibodies?
@@bladebrown4341 I’m sorry you’re dealing with such a confusing set of symptoms. Obviously you’ll need to talk to your own physicians about all of this but I’ll mention some of the thoughts I have had when helping patients and not finding the answer. There is a tempting problem in the medical universe called “anchoring”. The basic concept is that sometimes our first idea for a problem isn’t actually right but we can end up focusing too much on our original idea (anchoring) to the point that we forget to step back and rethink possibilities. I’m a family medicine doctor and this can be a problem for us because we’re usually the first in line to look at a problem. Any family physician should be able to workup and do hiv testing, but if we keep finding symptoms that don’t match that we would likely need to start thinking about other things that can cause similar symptoms (crohns/ibs or even some more rare things like pemhipgous conditions or even oral cancers). I have often referred to specialists at that point because they might be more familiar witb rare conditions. For instance an infectious disease specialist if I wanted more thoughts on transmitted diseases or gastroenterologist/otolaryngologist if I thought it might be more likely something else. Absolutely (pep is for after exposures, prep is for prevention prior to an exposure) known to reduce risks and every hour matters. I personally would not wait if I was exposed and would go to an emergency dept if my primary care could not see me (or wouldn’t prescribe without the appt). Hi Dr can cbc test results show the hiv
A cbc does not test for hiv although sometimes a cbc can show some abnormalities that prompt further testing to find what’s causing the abnormalities. Depending on what part of the cbc seems abnormal an hiv test would be considered an appropriate part of the followup. Anyone who has an abnormal cbc should be able to discuss that with the physician ordering the test to see if it means further testing is needed.

Most documentation on the subject (fda) say 90 days is the window period, as always discuss concerns with your personal physician to get the information most relevant to your situation

First test was after 4days then after 1months then after 3 months(window period) and then after 6month and my last test was after 23 months! And all the result comes Not-Deteced.. Believed to give a pretty reliable negative by 90days (some blood tests done in doctors offices reliable negative between 45-60days). Any positive would be a reason to do a confirmation test with a physician. Most doctors say that when in doubt, go ahead and test. Anyone with exposure of concern in the last 72 hours should speak with a physician about hiv pep which can reduce risk of transmission after exposure if started within 72 hours

You would need to discuss the case with your physician but as a general principle timing of the tests from exposure is just as important as number of tests performed. For instance this test is generally considered to be a 90 day test to rule out infection

I’m not sure I understand the question. If you are asking if a known hiv positive person (carrier) can actually have undetectable levels of hiv virus, that can happen with effective treatment. In that case a person would still technically be considered hiv positive but the risk of transmission would be extremely low because the amount of virus in their system was too low for most tests. Luckily there are some very good treatments for hiv if someone has access to a healthcare system connecting them with the right people/resources. Here in the US, that would be a physician specializing in infectious disease or even specifically in hiv treatment. A rash can be a lot of things and HIV can technically by one of them, but there is no way to know what someone has just by saying "rash". Any concerning symptoms would be best evaluated in person by that person's physician

There are many things that can cause symptoms so please discuss that with your physician and get checked out. I can state again as a general principle guidelines suggest anyone with a suspected/known exposure should get hiv testing from a medical professional if one is available and do their best to reduce risk of future exposure with barrier sexual protection and avoiding the sharing of needles if using injectable drugs. Your physician is the best one to talk to about why you may be having any symptoms. Generally if someone is trying to reduce risk of HIV transmission the most effective methods agreed on by most physicians include reducing number of sexual partners or needle sharing, using barrier protection for all sexual encounters and considering HIV Prep if you have more than average risk of exposure. 70 days is still considered in the “window” period when a person might not have developed enough signs of infection for the test to accurately show positive. The oraquicknis considered most effective at 90 days. I have often had patients concerned do a test immediately and then come back after 90 days to get a confirming negative test. While this video is a home test, most physicians recommend going to a physician because there are a number of other tests for other diseases that can pass through body fluids. I took a 4th generation test at a lab at 2 and a half weeks after exposer. Came back non reactive is that enough for me to stop worrying ?

I consider the blood test to be more accurate from a lab perspective and preferable as it generally comes with a physician visit to talk about future prevention methods and other indicated testing after a good discussion/physical exam. For someone who doesn’t feel they have the option to get to a physician this has been approved here in the US as another method of providing a pretty good screening test.

Have a throat pain ( slightly), joint pain ( slightly) and back pain also last Couple month's long. But in last 6/7 months i test almost five times. The result - negative.

I'm a transgender women and I take PREP recommended to me by my doctor who also handles my hormone replacement therapy.
According to her, me being transgender puts me at super high risk of getting hiv which is why i decided to take it
PREP is showing to be extremely effective at avoiding HIV so I'm optimistic as more people find out about it we can really reduce HIV rates. Glad you have a physician looking out for you!

Fatigue,mouth ulcers, thrush, diarrhea, dizziness, confusion, sore throat, weight loss etc...But all my 4generation test have been negative. I have also done RNA PCR, NAAT the came back not detected. Can I be HIV positive but don't have any antibodies? Could the late PEP have affected the development of antibodies?
@@bladebrown4341 I’m sorry you’re dealing with such a confusing set of symptoms. Obviously you’ll need to talk to your own physicians about all of this but I’ll mention some of the thoughts I have had when helping patients and not finding the answer. There is a tempting problem in the medical universe called “anchoring”. The basic concept is that sometimes our first idea for a problem isn’t actually right but we can end up focusing too much on our original idea (anchoring) to the point that we forget to step back and rethink possibilities. I’m a family medicine doctor and this can be a problem for us because we’re usually the first in line to look at a problem. Any family physician should be able to workup and do hiv testing, but if we keep finding symptoms that don’t match that we would likely need to start thinking about other things that can cause similar symptoms (crohns/ibs or even some more rare things like pemhipgous conditions or even oral cancers). I have often referred to specialists at that point because they might be more familiar witb rare conditions. For instance an infectious disease specialist if I wanted more thoughts on transmitted diseases or gastroenterologist/otolaryngologist if I thought it might be more likely something else. I hope you find the answers you want
