@R Ever heard of how inconsistent the judges are on this show? There have been other times they've allowed different words to match that weren't necessarily the same thing.
See below. Someone already explained that there are bridal showers, but not bridal baths. I get that Ira makes some grave mistakes, but that wasn't one of them.
End-of-week H/H match recap: ... ~~~Today's action: Our champion desperately needed a bath (five of them actually) to win the game, and a shower just wasn't close enough. She goes home after maxing out on winnings for a single game. And now our new champion is standing beside Gene waiting for his turn at some big money. Today's audience match question: "Good _________ " (My thoughts: Luck, Night, Morning, Day) The celebs: Richard (Times), Brett (Morning), and Fannie (Bye). As a bonus, Jimmie blurts out an unsolicited suggestion: Evening The choice: Times The answers: Bye, Luck, Times That surprised me. Alright, now that our new champ is going to be playing for 5 grand, who will he pick? So far, it looks like Richard is a top contender... It is Richard. He's matched 3 of his 5 most recent attempts. Today's H/H question: "__________ Eagle" (Did the producers decide this was going to be "Free-Money Friday"? What else would anyone say during the Bicentennial -- or even now -- other than bald eagle?) The contestant looks serene. Richard quickly and confidently files his card. The champion gives the predicted answer. Richard scores his 172nd H/H match today. ~~~End-of-week H/H match recap: A good week in the head-to-head match department despite Wednesday's long game depriving us of one H/H question. So only four H/H questions this time, but all four matched: Richard 3/3, Fannie 1/1 This was the first time Richard scored three H/H matches in a single week since 656-660, when he went 3 for 5. Brett managed the same trick the following week (661-655) when she was 3 for 3. Charles did it in 706-710 when he was 3 for 4. It was nice to see Fannie play (and match) this week. People frequently say Richard is really good at the head-to-head match. I believe that's true. And since we've agreed that an accuracy score of about 40% is really good, then Fannie (and Betty and Charles) must be super-awesome with scores above 50%! Looking at the remainder of the panel: Charles takes a break from the H/H, having played in each of the past three weeks (nine times total in those three weeks). Brett retains her (slim) lead over Richard for yet another week. Elaine Joyce has completed 14 of 26 weeks and remains 1 for 1 in the H/H. Jimmie Walker ends his sixth of seven weeks, still 0 for 1 in the H/H. His last shot will be the week of 831-835. ~~~Looking ahead to next week, our three regulars will once again be joined by three old friends, namely: -----Semi-regular Joyce Bulifant, whose last appearance was eleven weeks ago. This will be her 18th week (of 38 total). She remains in a tie with Jo Anne Worley at a 75% accuracy rate, and now it's up to Joyce to break that tie, as Jo Anne recently completed her final week on the program. -----Avery Schreiber, back in the #1 seat for his seventh week (of 14). His last visit was back in episodes 661-665, and he remains a H/H virgin. -----And Ethel Merman, back for her second (of 5) weeks. She made her debut in episodes 496-500, but wasn't selected to play the head-to-head. ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.4% (11 wins in 21 attempts). Betty - 51.4% (18 wins in 35 attempts). Charles - 51.0% (27 wins in 53 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 41.4% (24 wins in 58 attempts). Richard - 40.9% (172 wins in 421 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 725, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Most older people take baths. If a person is really dirty, they want a bath not a shower. I think shower should of matched. Most bathtubs have showers. Part of me think, they just wanted to get rid of her, so they didn't match. True a shower is not a bath. But don't one bathe in the shower.? ✌🖖🕯🌻🙂👋. N.j.
Well kind of a good week but Richard kept his title for another week giving away 15,500 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 13 matches for the regulars. Fannie won for the semi regulars giving away 6,000 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 11 matches. Brett gave away 500 dollars in audience match match.

Here’s the results from this week: Richard won this week by giving away a total of $16,500. Fannie came in second giving away $6,000. Finally, Brett came in third giving away $500 in the audience match. Richard also won with the most matches, at a total of 12. Brett came in second with 9, then Fannie with 8, Jimmie with 7, and Charles and Elaine tied for 6 matches.
Being of the female persuasion I'm shocked that Rita would answer bath instead of SHOWER. At times I can't figure this show out, just when you'd EXPECT to hear at LEAST three tinkles you get NOTHING
The question said she was really dirty.in a bath you are more able to get cleaner. Most people don't spend a lot of time in the shower. Most bath tubs have a shower. I felt bath and shower should of matched. Maybe they just wanted to get rid of her. After all you bathe in the bath and shower. You never know what one is going to say. 👍. They should let shower match. ✌🖖🙏🕯🌻🙂👋. N.j.

I actually see their point on this one. Any other question they probably would have let it slide. But because it was talking about giving her something for her wedding, the shower could have been taken as a wedding shower (celebration) not as a cleansing shower. That's what I'm thinking.
She would have won anyway, I don't believe Fanny said either but the camera moved away too fast for me to see.. Charles and Richard also had shower while Elaine had bath. Fannie had ? I think she still missed it by one but I guess we will see if Rita comes back or not.. ;0)
I just love Fannie Flagg. She's so funny and cute.
and great tits

Rita was so sweet.i wish she had stayed around longer
She reminded me of David Bowie.
Thanks for posting!!💖💖💖
just thinking some guy in a loud plaid jacket saying "Have we got brains for you!"
Gene Rayburberry! Also, Sandy looks a bit like Ruth Buzzi (out of character).
Surprised that the judges weren't lenient enough to allow "bath" and "shower" to mean the same thing.

I wonder why Fannie thought she was on her way out the door. Did she say or do something to make Ira angry?
The sign also goes off too early.
I thought "shower" was the obvious answer, because of the double entendre.

Terrible answers alert: bridal bath!
Panel of dingbats! Sandy gave the perfect answer “tinkles”. Fannie Flags response prior to her answer was clever & funny.
Tinkles or showers are the best answers 😂😂😂😂😂
Richard notices everything abt Gene. Don’t you find this a little ??? And in other shows he’s kissed & tried to kiss 💋 Gene. Uummm.
What difference does it make?

Why are "bath" and "shower" not the same??????
Because bridal showers makes more sense than bridal baths for that question
Rita Stukey at the beginning, her look is very much early '90s to me. Very strange!
I was thinking "Nixon" as well. I'm sure many others were then.
Rita reminded me of David Bowie.
