It was a peaceful day. It is a consecutive holiday season throughout Japan, but the number of visitors to the Kyoto Zoo is low. Usually during consecutive holidays at this time of the year, there would be a long line in front of the entrance, but this year there was none at all. The depreciation of the yen has also affected the number of Japanese visitors to the zoo.
In Japan, wages have not changed at all for 30 years, and only prices are rising.
The depreciation of the yen has made life even more difficult for the Japanese.

The gorillas ate breakfast and took it easy for a long time. When Gentaro was napping, Kintaro came by and tried to play with him. However, Gentaro was not so eager. When he shook Kintaro off, Kintaro let out a screeching sound. That startled father Momotaro, who misunderstood and chased after Gentaro, trying to protect Kintaro.
Soon Momotaro realized it was a misunderstanding, so there was no problem.

Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Even though Gentaro wasn't in the mood, I couldn't help laughing as I watched Kintaro jump on his big brother's back, trying to coax him to play.
Gorilla kids are just like human kids lol. Kids don’t seem to feel the heat as much as grown ups. Gentaro was affected by it but not Kinny. He can play all day.
6:09 Gentaro is making the same face that Momotaro does when they bother him while napping 😂 Gentaro looked annoyed with Kintaro and pushed him away kinda hard. That’s probably why Momotaro ran after him.

Have you noticed, Gentaro’s ears are the same shape as mum Genki while Kenny’s ears are the same shape as dad Momotaro. They have very different shape and size ears, again, just like humans.

They share although I think Momotaro decides if anyone but him can have them. I saw a video where Kintaro had both the blankets, because he loves to play with them, put them over his head etc. Momotaro snatched both blankets away from Kinny because he wanted to sit on them. Momotaro carefully spreads the blanket out on the ground making sure it’s flat and smooth. 😂

I’ve been telling people about the channel in the hopes to bring people here. Every ‘like’ view and sub helps this family and hopefully brings more visitors to the zoo. If I ever visit Japan (my dream to go one day!) I will definitely go to Kyoto to stay for a week or so and visit and this zoo each day I’m there. ❤

It seems there are more male gorillas than females born in captivity? I could be wrong. There are a lot of zoos that have gorillas enclosures they call ‘bachelors enclosures’ where the young males around Gentaro’s age are. In the wild they form these Batchelor groups too.

What do you mean ‘disturbing cries of children’? They’re having a good time. This is what kids do. I don’t particularly like noise but when it comes to children, their ‘noise’ *never* bothers me at all. Like Marilynn said, just turn your volume down. Put captions on so you still know what the content creator is telling us (that is, provided you’re not also intolerant of that) ❤❤

Hello GL. A few months ago i read a news article saying that the train ticket prices between Tokyo and Kyoto were being increased significantly to reduce the number of tourists going to Kyoto as the city was overehelmed with tourists. Perhaps this has contributed. Are there other tourist attractions affected. Or is it also less local people visiting the zoo. I hope things pick up soon.
In honest, accommodation costs are skyroketting.
We Japanese can’t afford to pay for the price.
The weak yen is closely linked to that.
The price change of the ticket you mentioned is only for foreign tourists. Even now, the ticket is unbelievably reasonable.
We Japanese are not served with the ticket. It’s really unfair.
It’s a must to purchase the JR pass if you have a chance to come to Japan.

It seems like Genki is losing weight.... around her neck and shoulders etc.. looks thinner than ever.
I wonder if the family would use a kiddy pool on hot days? I came across a video where they put a decent size kids pool in the enclosure. The female gorilla absolutely loved it! She was spinning around, throwing water, it literally looked like she was dancing lol (if you search gorilla dancing in a pool you’ll find it). It was such a joy to watch her so happy. I know gorillas don’t swim but this was just knee deep water and she had an absolute ball.
That was the silverback Zola in that pool. He loves water. There are other videos of him dancing in water. There are even some of him dancing in water when he was a little guy in Calgary. He’s a comedian ❤
Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, estou triste e preocupada já a algum tempo com o futuro de Kintaro e Gentaro, comentei várias vezes que faltou planejamento até para os momentos difíceis, não é uma crítica, é uma constatação, até porque estamos do mesmo lado, queremo o melhor para os gorilas, é necessário reuniões, usar a criatividade para cjamar atenção de visitantes, sem nenhum incômodo para os gorilas, comemorar aniversários e deixar os visitantes assistindo, eu estou preocupada, ainda não sei como encontrar a lista de desejos na Amazon. Amo muito meu lindo príncipe Kintaro e a linda e doce Genki ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I doubt very much it’s due to lack of planning as you say. It’s not simple to find solutions. I can almost guarantee you that planning began back from Gentaros birth if not much earlier. There’s so much more to it than what you see. I have 100% faith that Kyoto Zoo know what they’re doing and have the gorillas best interests at heart.
Once they come out for a meal how long does it take them to consume all the food that the keepers lay out?

有名な神社仏閣からはどんどん税金を取るべきですね。
一方で、有名でない小さな神社仏閣をどうするか？なぜなら、収入が少ない神社仏閣でもたいてい広いですよね。固定資産税がとんでもない額になります。

As you know, Genki has almost no back teeth due to decay in the past.
Therefore she can’t chew food enough and as a result she is apt to swallow them.
You can guess that it causes indigestion and before the symptoms, foods are left in her stomach or gut for longer time. At the same time. Like other viewers answered, in the gut gases are emitted .
